Not for another year and a half at least, We couldn't possibly start negotiations until we know what division we will be in in 2027 when his current contract expires 😉 Quote
MarkBRFC Posted yesterday at 15:02 Posted yesterday at 15:02 I imagine a couple from Forshaw, Weimann & Batth will be announced at some point, all seem fairly easy to do. I imagine Weimann would jump at the chance of another year after this injury too. Will still be amazed if any of Brittain, Travis or Tronstad agree any new deals. 2 Quote

I said similar yesterday, In all honesty, I think new contracts for Batth & Weimann (as well as Ribeiro) are a good idea (no more than 1 year deals for Batth and Weimann though), I would give Forshaw a swerve, but can see that happening also with at least one of Travis and Tronstad (as well as Brittain) departing this summer unfortunately 1 Quote
Tomphil2 Posted yesterday at 15:47 Posted yesterday at 15:47 Forshaw should be offered 2 grand a week if he wants to stay i'd rather they put that wage into retaining Travis and Trons. Cantwell needs to do one as well there's a good few quid wasted there but nobody will pay for him he'll probably end up paid off. With signing and wages of Fleck, Siggy, Cantwell and Dennis how much is that down the tubes never to be seen again with sod all return. Significant investment the idiots would call it but i'd call it money that should have been used towards buying a decent forward. 1 Quote

JHRover Posted yesterday at 15:59 Posted yesterday at 15:59 This lot will force Trav, Tonstad and Brittain out the door by failing to even discuss new terms until it is too late and then try to beat them in a game of brinkmanship and then turn around and expect praise for 'only' paying £20k a week towards Dennis' Forest salary. Then when those players inevitably leave to secure proper Championship wages and deals our lot will scratch around until deadline day and eventually capitulate and agree to pay someone else even more. They just make it up on a whim and it will destroy us. 1 Quote

Yep say the need to 'assess' then drop terms in front of them knowing their agents have been busy for months and the interest and terms are elsewhere. Then it's 'we had a contract on the table for months but he chose to move on' It's always down to the player at Ewood. 1 Quote
... Posted yesterday at 16:21 Posted yesterday at 16:21 Wipe of the brow now that Ribiero has signed, one of our more comfortable players that have played their position well from the start. Those are the type of players we need not those that take weeks to slot in. Know your position and play it well from the get go Quote
simongarnerisgod Posted yesterday at 16:22 Posted yesterday at 16:22 clucking bell, give the 3 wise c****s a gold clock for doing something right on the ribeiro deal but like politicians, they give you something then take away a lot more, beware Quote

Glad he has signed, I think he is a decent player. We need much more than this just to 'stay still'. And staying still will actually mean continuing to drop down the league, of course. And what a good signing he wii prove when we drop to League One next season!! 1 Quote
Tomphil2 Posted yesterday at 17:04 Posted yesterday at 17:04 Seeing as they don't know er....which league we'll be in i wonder what sort of terms they've flung at him. Quote
alex l Posted yesterday at 18:39 Posted yesterday at 18:39 I'm pretty sure these days it's standard to have promotion/relegation clauses so salaries would probably change accordingly in either scenario 1 Quote
JHRover Posted yesterday at 18:56 Posted yesterday at 18:56 It's just nonsense in our position anyway. If we were stuck at the bottom fair enough I'd understand some caution on renewals if there was a serious threat of League One (although if we were serious about bouncing back like we were last time you'd still want a squad under contract for that battle)> But if looking upwards at the PL you take the hit on a new contract from a position of strength. I'm not sure what the downside is - we get promoted, hit the jackpot in which case the money laid out on a handful of Championship players is nothing in the scheme of things. They're just making excuses and they know that a large chunk of the fanbase will just accept it. The Venkygraph have been busy today, knowingly or not, doing the clubs propaganda work for them. Hailing the Ribeiro deal as 'first new contract in 16 months' but that 5 month initial contract was always ridiculous to begin with and still banging the Dolan drum as though the club has made a decent offer or tried hard to keep him. There's no evidence of that other than the claims of an untrustworthy group of people who are keen to protect themselves. 2 Quote

Had he been naff, low risk. It's not like a loan where the player was returning to their club. Had we given Forshaw a 2.5 year or even 1.5 year contract, it'd be (rightly) said to be poor business. With Yuri, we've essentially had a trial period before committing. Quote
chaddyrovers Posted yesterday at 19:31 Posted yesterday at 19:31 lets hope Ribeiro can pick up his form and get back to the player we seen before the previous poor performances Quote

RevidgeBlue Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago On Ribeiro, he's OK, arguably better than Pickering but the real story behind the headline is that we will be weaker next season at LB as unsurprisingly we are making no effort whatsoever to sign Beck which is what a genuinely ambitious Club with aspirations should be doing. 2 Quote

I personally do not think he will still be here at the start of next season, never mind in 12 months. I think it will be similar to last year when Gallagher's option was triggered before he was sold to Stoke 1 Quote

Liverpool will want 10m for him at least. Are you really paying that? You could get 5 or 6 quality players for that Quote
