Aqualung Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Could our next 6 games be season defining or not? Off the top of my head, in no particular order.. Hull City away, Sheffield Wednesday away, Luton Town at home and Millwall away. Follwed by Sunderland at home and then them smelly bastards from near Yaarkshire. What would be a satisfactory points haul from those fixtures? Considering we tend to play well against the better teams as expressed in our last 3 results should we be expected to do well or are we going to produce another Stoke City at home or an awful Coventry away performance? Personally, I think we will know for sure we're we stand after January 4th. Heres hoping and not tempting fate. Quote

Upside Down Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 I can't see us getting anything from these games, we don't fare well against these sorts of teams. Definitely lose against Hull, Luton, Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall. 1 Quote

arbitro Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 The Championship is arguably the most unpredictable league and nothing can be taken for granted. Of course the newly relegated teams should have an advantage but recently the likes of Norwich, Watford and this season Luton have dispelled that myth. I never try to look to far ahead As there are so many variables like injuries, suspensions and loss of form which have a bearing on results. After two really good performances and more importantly results in our last two games against good teams would anybody really be surprised if we lost at struggling Hull? For me the most important game is the next one and that is hopefully where Eustace's focus will be. 2 Quote
MarkBRFC Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 (edited) It will be an unusual set of results that will be impossible to predict. But i'll go.. Hull - L Sheff Wed - D Luton - D Milwall - W Sunderland- W Hull- D Leeds - L Burnley - L Edited December 1, 2024 by MarkBRFC Quote

rigger Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Our last game of the season could be the title decider, between the two automatically promoted teams. Quote

Popular Post Mattyblue Posted December 1, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 1, 2024 Difference with Eustace is I can’t see Mogga/JDT death spirals, he’ll pick up wins purely on having a well drilled side. I imagine we’ll bob around 7th/8th but not do it in the end due to the standard tale of a small, pretty average squad not being helped in January and running out of steam. 13 Quote

Now that's f**king optimism! Rigger, if this happens & family medical issues (old folks, very old folks) don't keep me from crossing over for the celebration, your drinks are on me buddy. Hell we should all be buying you a round if that happens. Quote

Oh, I don't know; wouldn't Burnley losing in the play-off final after being 1 up entering added time & then giving up a last-man, red-carded penalty for a leveler followed by a last kick corner to knock them out be more fun? In the build up to the final they would be endlessly going on about them playing at the new Wembley, and us never having done that. So no I will stick to my dream. 2 Quote

TBF we only never played there because when we won the League Cup it was in Cardiff as old Wembley was bulldozed and the semi finals we played in were at Cardiff and Old Trafford. Personally I believe the semis should be at neutral grounds, a lot of these teams that have played the new Wembley have done so in semis that shouldn't be there. 4 Quote

roverblue Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 I would be happy to just keep winning our home games and anything on the road is a bonus. Keeping our good home form up is key to staying up this season IMO. 1 Quote
norwichblue Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 B*rnley tickets are on sale now. Unfortunately I'm at my wife's this year so will miss the Boxing Day fixture, but I'm driving back up north for this one. Just got my tickets. 4 Quote
philipl Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Being simplistic, I want sufficient to be in 6th so that it gives Venkys no hiding place when the Window opens. 3 Quote
Forever Blue Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 At current rate of PPG we’re on course for 75pts, which most years would just about get you in the play offs IIRC. 10 points from the next 6 games would be a continuation of that play off form. Quote

We have been in the top 6 twice in 3 years and we spent about half a million in fees across those 2 seasons. Why would it give them no hiding place. Quote
Aqualung Posted December 8, 2024 Author Posted December 8, 2024 One down and a victory. 5 to go. 3 Quote
joey_big_nose Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 If we come out in a good position after these six games I will start to believe...... But also it's worth saying at the same point in JDTs first season (i.e. 24 games in) we were 3rd so it's hard to really feel that certain about anything. In the Championship you are always only one death spiral away... Quote
Aqualung Posted December 10, 2024 Author Posted December 10, 2024 2 down. Another away victory. 4 to go. Quote
