Looking at the Stanley site, their away allocation sold out in mid December. Can’t see how many they were allocated but the away section at Anfield ‘typically’ holds 3k. Can’t see that they asked for any more and I think it would have been unlikely for them to shift the whole of the lower tier. So, presumably 3k.

Stanley got half the tier ..4500 plus tickets and wanted more. Liverpool said they could have  more but would have to take the whole tier..9000 ? tickets due to no other way of segregating the tier. If Stanley had done this they had to sell out ALL the tickets.

Any tickets not sold Stanley were told they  would have to pay back Liverpool 20-25 quid a ticket that wasnt sold. The reason being Liverpool could sell the half tier no problem to their own fans. Stanley wanted more and would easily have  sold more but couldnt take the risk.

Which is the same reason why Rovers only took the upper tier of the away end at Leeds last week - could have had an extra thousand or so in the bottom tier but would have had to pay for those at £30 a time if they weren't sold, whereas Leeds sell them no problem.

Tickets (in the EFL) are supplied to the away club on a sale or return basis.

I think that applies to the guaranteed minimum away tickets which must be made available which is the lower figure of 10% capacity or 2000 tickets.

If, on top of that allocation,  Leeds want to say "we will give you an extra 1000 but you must take them all" that will be outside of the EFL rules.

I’ve had another look at the relevant regulation and can’t see anything which limits the sale and return basis to the minimum allocation.

Your link certainly does suggest that’s the case though so maybe I’m missing something (or maybe Leeds are ignoring the rules!).

Terrible draw all things considered

Some interesting ties though, would be really fun to see Ashley Young face up against his son so I hope that happens

Darren Ferguson ruined it, twat (the last bit there isn’t in reference to this just in general)

Good. Media-induced mawkish horseshit. Posh were in that to the last breath and rightfully Ferguson treated it as a professional competitive fixture.

Been to watch Rovers at Anfield a couple of times and I'm not a Stanley fan, so absolutely no interest in making it a hat trick, tomorrow!

Going to Middlesbrough tomorrow though for my sins.....

Wycombe already 2 up against Portsmouth... I bet we create absolutely nothing against them next week though.

Portsmouth rested 9 players from their last league game.

Good stuff. A mate of mine used to work at Stanley and, during their rise through the lower (non) leagues, we watched them away a few times. Their away support, then, was quite good with absolutely loads of flags and banners. Much better on a pro rate basis than their home support. Hope they make some decent money out of the tie.
