Again, how is me posting on here that Gueye isn't good enough bringing the team down?

Expand

Should you read back a few months you will see that Eustace also isn't good enough. Then more recrently Pears isn't good enough. Brittain, Carter, Hyam and Pickering aren't good enough. Travis, Buckley, JRC, Hedges and Dolan arent good enough. Gueye, Ohashi and Leonard aren't good enough. Good job we've got Beck on loan!

We've no choice but to give Gueye time to develope and some credit for now for his part in our recent results. Let's hope we can a goalscorer on loan in January.

im`e not a fan of travis but we missed his running power and forward bursts today, great result though,in filthy conditions,no one stood out though all 11 gave everything they had for the cause, thought big mak was going to break his duck when he he had that shot, unfortunely it was so high and wide it would have missed on a rugby field, loved hia celebration at the end,it was like he`d just bagged a hatrick😁

And Wahlstedt, Telalovic, Mola etc, etc weren’t good enough, who people were right about.

It’s about opinions. You’re not going to get everyone coming on here saying everyone plays well. But if someone genuinely thinks that someone had a bad game, or is a bad player, there’s no harm in them stating that on here.

If you were giving them shit on the ground it’s a different story.

However some people think that giving the opinion Big Mac looked fairly poor again when he came on is some kind of cardinal sin which will undermine all of our progress.

Shows what a horrendous run we went on as we’re  ‘only’ 3 points better off this season than last (after 18 games).

Yup a sobering reminder that things can fall apart very quickly in the Championship.

If we can get to mid Jan in this form i will start to believe.

I'm not arguing. Gueye is completely out of his depth using normal footballing paramaters. But as a fluffer he's doing a great job.

Meanwhile Sherwood, Atkins and Wicox weren't good enough. Or Newell. Neither was Branagan or Miller or Mail or big Chris Thompson. Its always been that way.

But youve missed the point, saying a player isnt good enough on here isnt bringing the team down.

We have no choice in anything that happens, but we can cast an opinion. Most seem to think he isnt good enough. The counter argument isnt that he is or could be, its to stop being negative

First game of the season I missed completely, but sounds like it might not have been a bad thing.

4 consecutive wins (3 of those being away) and 3 consecutive clean sheets, is an incredible achievement.

I had big questions of Eustace last season, when he couldn't find a win in several home games against teams in and around us.
But this season has been a massive success so far, with his ability to organise a defence and set up a team for each given match being the main reason for this.

Really pleasing to say that I was wrong about him.

Not even taking a side on the Gueye good or bad thing, but will say that when he heads a ball, there's no-one on this planet knows which direction it might end up going.

And he's close to the bottom of the list for accurate guesses.

Mmmm i didn't miss anything. If you need validating you are of course correct. Your words typed on here affect nobody.

Should however you try and understand the nuance and subtlety of the comment made it was to highlight its a bit churlish to heavily criticise an individual after a brilliant team performance. Pretty straight forward really.

Today was about crediting all involved. We all know Gueye is a tad limited, but the fact is in his own small way he is contributing to recent results. Whether you like it or not.

Keeping his opponents guessing Silas. It's tactically brilliant.

I once watched a tennis match where Serena Williams lost to a much lower-ranked opponent who was surprised as anyone else and asked her coach during the match, "do you think she's surprised by how bad I am?". I'm often reminded of that moment when Gueye comes on for his substitute cameos.

I'm not completely writing the guy off at all, but there's a wildness and unpredictability to him that does have a value in its own, bizarre way.

Would I trust him one on one with a keeper? No. Do I see the value of bringing him on against a tiring defence and a team with their fans on their back? Yes.

Its not as black and white as praising everyone after a win or indeed criticisng everyone after a defeat. I dont think today was a brilliant team performance but it was most importantly a good result. But I dont think Gueye is contributing positively to us because sadly he isnt up to it.

I can't be the only one to think he just looks lost on the pitch that being said as stated earlier he contributed in his own way and the team put in a decent performance

Unfortunately Barry Bannan was also suspended for Wednesday today and will be back for the next game.

He is their best player and the one who makes them tick, could have done with him being unavailable

I bet they are more worried about us.

Has anyone seen a breakdown of Gueye's goal types from past seasons? I'd be amazed if they didn't include a fair number resulting from crosses. I'm not saying he'd be leading goal scorer if we put it in the mixer at every opportunity but we clearly don't play a style that suits his characteristics. At least if we bring him on when leading he can help out with the inevitable barrage into our box in the final 10/15 mins.

The chances that have fallen to his head or feet via crosses thus far would suggest otherwise. There is as much chance of him putting it in our net during that barrage than clearing it looking at the final resting point of his attempts at the other end!

He scored 11 for a relegated side last season, none of which were penalties. It might be they created loads of chances and he should have scored many more, but it seems unlikely he'd have carried on being picked if that was the case.

It wasn't until we came out of the ground after the game that I realised how tough the conditions were. The wind was fierce, swirling and coupled with heavy rain it gave even more context to be delighted at the win. We have played worse and lost or drawn this season but in the final analysis success can sometimes be defined by days like this. Hull didn't really hurt us and their shots from distance were never going to trouble Pears. Aside from the free kick and a couple of blocked shots I wasn't really worried. Perhaps a big part of that belief is how we are defending right now. We look solid and exceptionally well organised right now and that pleases me so much. I didn't think we had any outstanding performers today but the majority of players would get a 7/10 from me. How pleasing too to see Lewis Travis celebrity the players after the match. No Christmas shopping for him, he wanted to support his teammates. I see Eustace talking about team spirit so often but the fact Travis was at Hull today gives me the distinct impression Eustace has built this in his time here. Whilst team spirit won't necessarily win games for it can go a long way to contributing to a win.

As ever, some excellent well made points.

The team is very well coached defensively and Eustace and and his staff have done since coming in as head coach in February.  When we take the lead under Eustace, you don't feel that we will conceded afterwards

Yes I noticed that Travis was there and its great to see that he wasn't away Christmas shopping for example but at the game backing the team showing why he is club captain and the bond between himself and Eustace is there to be seen.

The conditions were bloody horrendous but despite that the team remain strong and solid defensively throughout the game. It was solid team performance. I don't feel we will ever lose a game after we score first under Eustace and these players, you not agree with that?

Class goal that from back to front again, this time at pace (unlike Cardiff) & involving some great vision, bravery in possession, one touch positive passing and direct running from some very oft-maligned players (Pears, Dolan, Hedges & Brittain), plus Tronstad & Cantwell.

Agree, great move but I don't think it was going in anyway as Brittain claims. Not that I care!

Im sure we will lose a game we have led in at some point, but I commented that Eustace really has us well drilled off the ball and its causing us to consistently get positive results in spite of having a poor attack which is credit to him. Hedges, Dolan and Ohashi again didnt offer a goal threat but after our fortunate goal, our organisation meant that a poor Hull side never looked likely to break us down.
