The defensive work is testament to the manager. The attacking players (the likes of Hedges, Dolan, Ohashi and Gueye) wouldnt get close to the other top level Championship squads and arent scoring hence why the fact that we are repeatedly grinding out narrow wins and sit 6th in spite of that is even more impressive.

The defensive work is also testament to the players and having Travis and Tronstad as centre midfielder partnership is a great. Hyam's performances have improved cos we are less open.

Every Championship team grinds wins out. We have Eustace, staff and players who are very good at it.

Plus we don't created many chances but when we did it's good football to get us that like Leeds at home when we were the better team and created the better chances.

It suits us our gameplan to have less of the ball. Would that change if we sign 2 attacking players of quality, I'm not convinced we would change that much our playing style.

Have they? We are scoring 1.22 per game this season compared to 1.3 per game last season when we nearly went down.

I suppose I am thinking more of the second half of last season when we were pretty much solely reliant on one player to score the goals. We are scoring less but are far more solid defensively.

The players weren’t very good at it last season. It’s all on Eustsce as players need drilling, drilling, drilling.

Yeah - the defensive shape under JDT was very very open. Eustace has gone completely to the other end of the spectrum so not surprising it took a while to bed in. Hard to think of two systems more different really while playing broadly the same formation. Must have needed a lot of work.

It's remarkable how comfortable the defence looks compared to same time last year.

I am pretty sure Dolan and Ohashi would get good gigs at playoff contending sides if they left us. Both are better players than given credit for by most on here. They have both played really significant roles in our recent good results.

I do agree Hedges and Gueye are really struggling.

Do you think both/either would benefit from the way club’s recruitment is becoming more and more data driven?

Really depends on what they're measuring/analysing:

If it's speed, dribbles attempted and chasing to win the ball back after losing it, then Dolan would likely benefit and so would Ohashi.

If it's brainless passes to no one after winning the ball back from an attempted dribble, then Dolan would definitely benefit.

It really depends

Yep, the social media age has spawned this weird phenomenon where folk just can’t cope with ‘negativity’. That merely ‘being positive’, ‘being kind’ on the internet will materialise said positivity somehow, even for a football club with distant, rogue owners that we as fans have zero influence over.

Now I’m buzzing with what Eustace is doing with this limited squad, what a potential club transforming moment we could be in as the window opens… alas, after seeing three January debacles in a row I sadly won’t be putting my head above the parapet expecting something different, especially when the owners are currently in court for financial irregularities every other month, that doesn’t scream January war chest for their neglected football club half way round the world to me… but if people are happy to ignore all that and to utilise some wishful thinking until 1st February before the inevitable let down, go for it, I suppose, but don’t try and paint those that have seen this story a fair few times as ‘negative’.

Negative?  Realistic is the word.

Drilling too much leaves more holes.

I would disagree there. Which teams do you think they would get in and would they be starting or squad players?

Dolan has not improved his productivity despite being more of a main man. He will get you 4 or 5 goals and flatter to deceive most of the time. Ohashi hasnt looked like scoring since an initial flurry over the first 5 games, he went through at the weekend and I never felt like he would score, he dithered and his shot was blocked.
