Baker I don't think is a central midfield player, and whenever Eustace has used him or bought him on as a sub it's in one of the 3 attacking positions behind the striker.

Fully expecting JRC for Trav as he played with Tronstad a lot last season, not sure Buckley and Tronstad works.

He's played CM most of his career: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lewis-baker/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/198589

Why are we playing hull twice and Leeds twice in quick succession? Is that normal to play 2 teams within 5 weeks of each other?

Most seasons we tend to play one team home and away over Dec/Jan but I can't remember it happening twice recently.

This weekend's fixtures are all reversed on 29/12 and last weekend's on 1/1.

Perhaps Eustace brought Baker on for a striker, to shore-up the midfield.

Taking my 6 year old son to his first away game on Saturday. I hope it’s better than mine (3-0 defeat to Sheff Wed in 1998!)

Travis will be a big miss I fear. His partnership with Tronstad has been key these last few games. Personally I don’t think Buckley is good enough, and JRCs last performance against Cardiff nearly cost us 3 points. Will he go Baker??…

Obviously this will be won or lost on the training ground with Tronstadt paired with someone from JRC, Baker and Buckley.

If that doesn't work we are likely to struggle.

Would still like ADC get some minutes if that isn't a dangerous luxury.

Has to be said, as things stand, we have survived selling our best players and losing an iconic manager better than Hull have. But on Saturday, both clubs are in the same bad ownership off-field management mess except Hull get the crowds and Swag has killed our's.

Here's to the loyal away fans cheering us onto victory.

Great post - my feeling is that he will keep it simple and play Buckley, who has been first change in that position. If he doesn’t trust him to play on Saturday then JB is done with us.

Baker has to be next in line and I wouldn’t be against him starting. He probably deserves a chance.

JRC is a weird one. He’s a top player but can’t seem to nail down a position, and worryingly for him, he has now become capable of having absolute howlers.

I think Baker will be the one selected in place of Travis.

I think people are over thinking JRC. It is quite simple. He is not good enough to play in a midfield two as his positional sense is not good enough nor he is good enough to play as an out and out full back for the same reason.

What he is good at is playing at right back who can drift inside and play through midfield as an midfield overload but the risk there is he gets caught of position.

JDT exploited this but at the risk when the attack phase broke down he was out of position but Eustace prefers his defenders to keep to a tight system.

The only place I see JRC playing is in forward three as that can drift into spaces.

I thought at the time that Hull's decision to sack Rosenior was ridiculous, and on a par with Birmingham sacking Eustace.

So far, they have got their just deserts.

If we can beat them twice in these back to back fixtures it'd be a great 6 points, capitilise on their position - i'm sure they've got the players to bounce back later in the season.

Hoping we pick up points here at luton and bristol as some tough fixtures coming up

JRC in the middle for me, give him another chance, is cantwell capable there?

Reading's Ruben Selles set to be appointed at Hull, maybe before Saturday.

They could have pep there. No coach will make a difference to them there in disarray. No disrespect to hull but they’re sinking like there town atm come on rovers jump all over this 4th win on spin and playoff entry on this.

Not sure I fancy JRC in instead of Trav, lad's been suicidal at times.  Would like to see Baker, maybe he can nab one if his long shot specials.  Probably be Buckley but if he does not stand up and be counted then I think it is time to move him on.  For some one who was rated so highly he has not come on much.

I do think Baker has shown enough in cameos to deserve a go.

Conversely JRC has been shite when he's played this season, not sure what's happened to him.
Maybe another confidence player.

And Buckley hasn't shown enough when he's played.

Buckley doesn’t want it enough, he’ll blink and he’ll be in the lower leagues thinking ‘how did that happen’.

I know, and he was the next big thing, he just has not progressed at all not one bit.

Sorry, this is the Championship and it just doesn't work that way.

Yes, we are favourites, but we know from history that does not guarantee victory.

I'm relatively confident, but I'd have been more confident had the previous manager still been in charge.

The script is obvious, with Rovers tails up and Hull's heads down, Rovers on an upswing and Hull on a downward slide, Rovers showing team spirit and gelling well as a unit and Hull in disarray...

Yup.

Head: M62 Mob 0 Rovers 1 (ball spins over the line off Yuki's bum, propelled by a howling gale from the North Sea)

Heart: East Riding Robbers 2 East Lancashire Lunatics 0  (familiar frailties and individual errors bite us in the backside)

Hopeful Punt: Bridge Boys 0 Mill town Marauders 3 (Cantwell, Ohashi, Dolan)

I remember going to Hull for the rearranged game following the Boxing Day debacle. We were riding high and Hull were floundering but on the night they introduced their new owner to the crowd and that clearly gave them a lift. Predictably we lost (albeit there were a couple of highly questionable refereeing decisions) and only won another four games from then (19th Jan). Hopefully the introduction of a new manager tomorrow doesn't have the same effect.

I would put Baker in for Travis as I believe he is the closest we have to Travis in terms of how we play.  If Baker does start his lack of game time might hamper him later on so to have two good options on the bench is ideal. As with every away game I would keep us compact and tight out of possession and play on the counter when possible. It is certainly within us to go there and win tomorrow but the Championship doesn't work like that. I have faith in Eustace to come up with a game plan to get us a result.

We’re not favourites. Latest odds have Hull slightly more favoured.
