The fact that team, managed by Scott Parker, is 2nd with only 9 goals conceded says a lot about this league though, and leaves me hopeful that starting from Portsmouth at Ewood we can get back on track. I think Gueye is limited but have also been growing increasingly frustrated with Cantwell lately. Think he passes it backwards a lot of the time when he should take control of the ball and move forward. Also a lot of fancy high-risk passes that don't come off. And hardly any goals or assists but we are so slow it's really difficult when we never dictate matches.

Unpopular opinion, would've brought buckley for baker sooner. So many oppotunities to break forward/ play final pass and they completely miscue it.

Brittain our best player, CBs did well. Sign a top striker and they won't even touch the ball, needs to come with a good winger or two..

Really disappointed by Cantwell. We got into some good positions but he  was very wasteful. That's pretty much just how they play normally. They're basically a £150m version of us - as their paucity of goals shows. They've only scored 3 more than us, lol. They just have a much more expensive and overall better defence and midfield to keep goals out and come out more often on the right side of tight games.

Glad you pointed this out, we were second to everything today and at least a yard behind their lot all over the pitch.

When they had the ball they found space and moved forward, when we got it we found no space, were laboured and went backwards.

It was a poor poor performance and, for me, we lost to the team that wanted it more and that's unacceptable.

And that 'cameo' from John Buckley at the end? Jesus wept.

Cantwell was utterly woeful. No idea how stayed on for 90 mins - probably illustrative of total lack of depth. Can see why he fallen apart at every club he’s ever been.

It's all good inviting pressure- and largely with standing it, but you need to be able to counterattack..   Cantwell looks like he's running in a swap, painfully slow. Baker, poor today, albeit against a good opposition. Trondstadt good as ever.

I think you needed a JRC in there to add some nastiness and bite..   Travis and Carter would have made such a difference.

Can't say I'm surprised, the squad's crying out for investment, as it has been for a while- spend or fuck off Venkys!

Yes, given his pedigree I thought we were signing someone at Brads level but Cantwell doesn't seem to be able to impact games really. Shows some nice touches etc (but recently just as many dreadful ones) but in half a season now there are very few truly impactful moments from Todd.

Unpopular and stupid opinion, sorry to be blunt. Buckley was dogshit, and it was predictable he would be dogshit, because he has been dogshit consistently for a very long time now.

I do agree about Brittain though. He was impressive.

Well, bearing in mind that it's been a relentless festive season of fixtures, I thought we matched them very well even with our injury woes. 

It's that cutting edge though, isn't it? And I just don't see where the money is coming from to find the goals that would push this team up a gear.

I actually thought Buckley improved us a bit- passed it forwards- better than Cantwell, which doesn't take much.
