In peace as ever ...

Left it my usual 24 hours or so to let things die down. Certainly not a game for the ages, we converted our one good chance and that's " all she wrote " ! The referee started well, but was inconsistent for both sides. I think Rovers have the basis of a decent team, but need additional reinforcements, as so many of you have said. We need to increase our goal threat sharpish ... if Ashley Barnes is the answer, then we're asking the wrong question !

I watched the game on TV, despite receiving the offer of a " spare " from a Rovers mate at 5.30pm on Friday. " Where is it, pal ? ", I asked, " Centre of the lower tier, Blackburn End ! " ... " Mmm, call me Mr Ungrateful, but I'll pass if you don't mind ! " ..

Now that's over, best wishes to all for 2025, and enjoy the rest of the season !

Do us a favour. Leave it 48 hours next time.

Only if he was out of contract and had been offered one by City.

You’re correct of course.

Did a quick Google and it seems he was and they did so a fee of around £400k + the same in add ons + a sell on percentage was agreed.

Renamed to ‘Burnley’? Is there no end to our hospitality? 😭

FYI - The naming/formatting of match threads is a future proofing exercise so that when we have the functionality in place we can link things from disparate places together more effectively & efficiently in what will be an enhanced Match Centre.

It’ll be much easier to do it if the threads follow a broadly consistent format. The APIs we use from various providers refer to them as Burnley…😉

With regards to the attendance, the Preston home game is coming up at the end of the month.

Can we attract half of the walk ons we had yesterday to that one?

Will our ‘ground security team’ and the police be happy to give Preston the full end at 8pm on a Friday night ?

£30 a ticket so i'm guessing no

I can’t agree with that.

My heart was pounding for the entire match yesterday, as I always want to do them.

I have Venky’s, but will always love Rovers.

They will be gone one day.

I was the same but when they scored and when the final whistle went I didn't bave that absolutely gutting feeling like I would have done pre venkys.

There's just absolutely nothing to get excited about with this club. Even if we do start performing and are in with a chance of achieving something they just deliberately sabotage it. What's the point?

If we’ve made a couple of good signings - maybe.

Egan Riley was a free from City.  He is out of contract in the summer.

Burnley signed him for a bargain 350k, his contract is up this summer but after his breakthrough season with the first team this year after being sent out on loan previously he'll sign a new 4 or 5 year contract and a huge pay rise in the next few days

Closed the website to new registrations for 72, but have now made it so that I have to manually approve all new ones. Rejected a few Dingles whose username shows they’re clearly here to troll and wind up, but have now accepted a couple who seem like they might be reasonable. If not, please be quick on that report button and I’ll action bans.

Great work fella

Haven't these clowns got something better to do with their lives.

No. In an nutshell

The 10,000 or so extra fans would probably have been appalled by yesterday's match, which was low quality with little excitement

They would also have been shocked probably at how limited Rovers are, compared to the teams and players they remember.

And we lost. The atmosphere was good but from a football point of view was little if anything to make the average wabering fan to visit Ewood again

We can definitely rewrite the code so that it reads “Burnley” as “The Dingles”!

No, they're obsessed with Rovers.

It's both hilarious and sad at the same time but they really do have a bizarre fixation on us. Fair do's I suppose, we always have been and always will be far superior to them.

There won't be.

As I said earlier in the thread, I was surrounded by fans I've never seen before - all filled with utter hatred for Burnley.

This was their cup final, they won't be back, sadly.

I was too on W11w but hoping a few return as people were getting really into it.

Preston won’t fill it, they are bigger fair weather fans than Burnley, they are doing poorly this season nearly as bad as 21/22 which they only brought 4.5k due to poor performance, there was empty seats in lower that day and had a few in top tier, I would be surprised if they bring anything more than that especially if results continue to be negative

You saw this with JDT's first season - you can't wait around to rebuild. The Playoffs are there for the taking with even a modicum of investment.

The year after drawing plaudits from everyone for our style of play and losing out on the Playoffs by goal difference we were in a relegation dogfight.

Exactly i never understand this, hit the ground running next year business, this year is the year, look at hull last season, well up there, now look at them.

Of course, safety is the main priority here, but there is no such thing as rebuilding when we have a habit of selling anybody who makes rebuilding a possibility, just go for the playoffs now while the going is good!

They hate burnley, but can't make it regularly to games, they blame the cost of living but I guarantee they get a fat takeaway for 4 every weekend and pints to wash it down with.

Maybe that's there preference, and nobody has the right to question them on it.

Folk can spend there money how they please, going to Ewood isn't value for money the majority of time.

The Preston game has again been moved to a stupid time to allow a presumably small number of neutrals to watch it. Earlier in the season we had one where only 1 running train allowed fans to get there before kick off.

You always see these stupids comments about people not atending games. As if every fan should be equally willing to prioritise Rovers over every other potential source of enjoyment in their life regardless of cost.

Maybe a takeaway with their family is a bigger priority and more enjoyable than regular trips to Ewood?

In a perfect world you wouldn't need to give up the odd takeaway and become entirely teetotal to support your football team.
