The Preston game has again been moved to a stupid time to allow a presumably small number of neutrals to watch it. Earlier in the season we had one where only 1 running train allowed fans to get there before kick off.

You always see these stupids comments about people not atending games. As if every fan should be equally willing to prioritise Rovers over every other potential source of enjoyment in their life regardless of cost.

You know this game would be moved at the start of the season and we were told about this game moved 2 months ago. Plenty of notice and how does this game being moved to Friday night affect yourself?

Its not about how it affects me or any one individual. And notice doesnt change public transport etc.

How many times.

Its you complaining about kick off times again, so I asked a simple question how it affect you the change of kick off from Saturday 3pm to Friday night and you would have almost 3 months notice.

So how does this kick off time affect yourself?

I'm meant to be working in Germany that week. I found out our January scheduling just before Christmas. I'd normally be on 16.40 flight from Munich to Manchester which arrives around 6pm. So I either miss the game, or I piss around telling our parent company they need to move a production slot.

As it is, they are quite understanding so I will be coming back a day earlier.

Due to work, I always anticipate missing some midweek games. But I'm already now having to miss Portsmouth in a couple of weeks (which was meant to be a weekend game) and Sky potentially meant I missed the Preston game.

Still, at least the money Rovers pocket from this TV deal is being used to help subsidise my season ticket to make the fact I miss quite a few more games than I used to more palatable. Oh wait....

Hi Chaddy. Am I allowed to moan? I cannot attend this match as easily now as I'd be unable to travel back home after the match.

I've seen similar posts from yourself, eg you couldn't understand people having sympathy for Cardiff fans after Rovers v Cardiff was scheduled for noon on New Year's Day.

Some people have opinions on things because they're concerned it may impact others negatively even if it doesn't affect them. It's called 'empathy'. I felt sorry for Coventry fans when they moved their games to Northampton? Did it affect me? Not a jot. It's what makes us human.

I was asking RF99 who has been a completely against moving games for TV coverage and people have had 3 months notice., how it affect himself.

Yes of course have a moan about the change of kick off time. its no problem to me.

I have empathy with people being effect but that's why we got plenty of notice of the change of game. It was clear at the start of the season this game would most likely be moved for TV coverage and last season we played the game on the Friday Night.

Yes I am affected by this change of kick off time or any midweek game cos I get around 2 to 3 hours less sleep given I work nights and I have to travelled to work after the game, but I accept the role of TV within the games and I have work nights for many years cos it suits my family needs.

I agree on the Coventry thing but Cardiff fans had a choice to make whether or not to attend and they have plenty of notice to make a decision whether to attend or not which is a difference.

Of course people have a choice, but I also feel that the frequency of moved games will mean more and more people make the choice not to attend, which I don't think is good for Rovers or for the sport we all love.

Due to being a more local game (albeit not for me), Preston being moved doesn't quite irritate me as much as some others despite making it very difficult/expensive for me to attend. But on a more general front, I worry about it reducing matchday attendances. Our attendances throughout the pyramid and the away followings we have in this country are the cornerstone of our game.

Match day attendances this season have gone up over the EFL and the amount of walk on's we seen at Rovers has increased this season whilst ST have stayed the same.

The EFL and Sky agreed to give Fans plenty of notice over movement of games which they have done.

I fully understand some games being moved are unhelpful if you planned to attend a certain game then its moved for TV coverage or similar like Police with the Leeds game

I do think they've been much better at communicating the rescheduling compared to previous seasons, so credit where it's due there. I hope the attendances stay strong but there'll be a decent amount who will reconsider their options in summer after a year of potentially less convenient kick off times.

Yeah,  there would have been plenty over the summer that wouldn't have had a clue about the new TV deal before buying a ST.

If Suhail and Steve were surprised how low the numbers were after "£30 off" then they will be in for a real shock next summer when they decide to rise them considerably.

the better at communicating changing of games was part of the agreement between clubs, EFL and Sky Sports.

The Burnley game were knew before the season started.

PNE game was move about 2 months ago noticed.

I think People are picking and choosing their games to attend if non STH.

End of the day if clubs across the EFL don’t see a fall in ST sales in the summer after a year of fans being constantly pissed about then they’ve got to have their cake and eat it.

However, if there is a fall then they haven’t got away with their greed and Sky will be broadcasting emptier grounds next season. So we’ll see.

Notice given as you touch on is much better than it has been but that doesnt offset the fact that so many games are moved in the first place. Public transport wont change and also issues are caused with work etc if the game is moved to Friday night. So I agree that people will potentially reconsider going.

I think the most ridiculous element is having so many games at the same time at Saturday dinner time. Theres no need to have 6 or 7 games across 3 leagues at the same time. Who genuinely is going to watch say Plymouth v Stoke, Exeter v Lincoln or Accy Stanley v Bradford as a neutral to the point where it justifies the inconvenience to the fans of those sides.

However, the notice period isn’t so great at this point of the season . They haven’t chosen March games yet.

So say a Norwich fan coming to Ewood on the 1st (only 7 and a half week away now), it could well be moved, so their fans either take a chance with their train or they wait and see prices creep up and up.

No. In an nutshell

The 10,000 or so extra fans would probably have been appalled by yesterday's match, which was low quality with little excitement

They would also have been shocked probably at how limited Rovers are, compared to the teams and players they remember.

And we lost. The atmosphere was good but from a football point of view was little if anything to make the average wabering fan to visit Ewood again

Anecdotal I know but I enjoyed it and my Utd supporting friends both said they’d be happy to come again and that we should make plans soon. Our only quibble was with the ridiculous queues for beer and pies. Unbelievable!

I got a shock when I read a match report stating that the match was boring and not eventful. Maybe just because the match meant so much, but I was on the edge of my seat throughout. True, there wasn’t much quality on display from either side, but we’re Rovers supporters, not Barcelona.

If you can’t get excited by a closely-fought derby like that then you may as well give up on football.

It wasn't boring (who said that?) and no one said the occasion wasn't exciting, but you don't have to be "invested" as a fan for more than 60 years, as our group are, to recognise that as a match it wasn't a good watch.  It'll take more than a disappointing derby for us to give up on football and I think you're United supporting friends were being kind.

Same all round the ground except Riverside has a no waiting reputation! I've gone for a pint few minutes before halftime and missed start of second half. Its like the staff servicing have no experience which is probably true so we can't blame them.

Massive derby game but I've dodged talking to any Burnley fan since. Guess l'll get round to it but not there yet. A new signing will help but unlikely this early in window.

Eh?

In fairness, the match report I was referring to was in our old friend, The Guardian, and I wasn’t aiming my post at you. But you kind of did say the match was unexciting.

Weirdly, I took my partner to her first game of football ever on Saturday (she's always said she hates football but promised me one game, so of course I picked this one) and she loved it despite the poor quality and the result. Bought the third shirt as well whilst we were there.

We live too far away to go week in week out, but it did help take the sting out of the result a bit to see her engage in an unexpected way as she said she's up for more matches in the future.

That's awesome man glad she liked it! Preston match soon coming up in Feb Friday night
