Tony Diamond Inc Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 Anybody labelling them as a 'comedy act' or whatever is being unfair Believe me, when I saw them at Glastonbury, I couldn't stop laughing! Still whatever cooks your carrot, I mean some people laugh when they listen to the Tindersticks, whereas I cry :'>

stegraham Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 When I first saw/heard the Darkness I immediately thought of Judas Priest. I'm sure that song - "Breaking the Law" would fit perfectly in a Darkness set. :-)
rosie Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 I immediately thought of "the women are coming, run to the hills, run for your life..." by Iron Maiden, which is why I likened the Darkness to IM.

Still whatever cooks your carrot, I mean some people laugh when they listen to the Tindersticks, whereas I cry :'> Okay, because I'm a bit out of date on this, I asked my 16 year old brother if he liked them and if not, what he thought of them. He said they're all right, but they're trying to become a showmans band like Queen. If that's true, no wonder you couldn't stop laughing. If it's not, what were you on?!
LDRover Posted September 20, 2003 Posted September 20, 2003 The Darkness are only doing what the criminally underrated Terrorvision did a few years back. It just goes to show what an image and a large helping hand from the NME can do for you. That's not to say I don't like them, their songs do rock amd anyone who can sing like Zed off Police Academy has my vote. A word on The Thrills that I read in a review and I agree with totally 'One Horse Town...one trick pony.' Best Regards.

bellamy11 Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 Got "War All The Time" by Thursday last week. Not as good as "Full Collapse", but worth checking out if you're a fan of that kind of thing.
Ozz Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 Paul Wellers `Fly On The Wall` triple CD. Absolute magic, particulary as it only cost me 47pence. (WHSmith clubcard unused for five years paid the the rest).
Tarka Posted September 25, 2003 Posted September 25, 2003 Bought the new Starsailor and Spiritualized albums along with Beth Gibbons and Rustin Man's album, Out Of Season. Haven't had a chance to really give the Spiritualized album a good listen yet but I have played the other two albums regularly. Love them.

CornwallRover Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Dave Matthews, i'm guessing at least 95% of you are going Who?. He's a South African singer who fronts the Dave Matthews Band, he just released a solo album called Some Devil, it's fantastic. I'd reccomend it to Colin, seen as he likes Nick Cave.

bellamy11 Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Picked up Jeff Buckley's "Grace" for £6 in HMV today. Absolute bargain.
CornwallRover Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Was he the chap on the Jonathan Ross radio show the other week? He might of been, I didn't listen, but i'll go check on the website.
bob fleming Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 For fans of Metal / Punk - may I take this opportunity to recommend Motorhead's box set "Stone Deaf Forever" that's just been released. 5 CD's, 99 tracks - 19 unreleased old songs - digitally remastered and all that caper. Cost £ 42.00 - cheap as chips if you ask me. Play loud and nothing will ever sound the same again.
tucker Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 New Strokes single is very good, the album will also be good if you believe the first reviews. I also saw Elbow at the academy but left just before the encore due to boredom, good on record but not exactly what I would call a good live act.
