CornwallRover Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 Caliban really aint very good, saw them supporting Machine Head last year, and they were pish. Machine Head on the other hand were bloody fantastic.
Radagast Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 Out of interest Cornwall, do you listen to Blaze?
Tim Southampton Rover Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 I saw Caliban against Machine Head and I was really impressed with them, hopefully they will be good once again! Unlucky cornish man, you must have had a bad show or...i had a good one!
Radagast Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 Don't call him Cornish it makes him turn green. And for any of you illegally-minded metalheads out there, apparently the new Judas Priest album Angel of Retribution has been leaked.
JonnyH Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 I like Kasabian. Really enjoying Embrace as well. Loved the Good Will Out as great memories from Uni Day, but musically this is far better. (Nice on Chris Martin )
CornwallRover Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 Out of interest Cornwall, do you listen to Blaze? Can't say i've heard of them, will hunt them down tonight and have a listen.
Eddie Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 I've always be tempted to become involved in this discussion, but gave up months ago as it is dominated by you metal lovers. Not my cup of tea I have to say, well it was for a phase, but got past that when I was about 14.

I'm just trying to round up fans for the new band, Rise To Addiction, that is made of three ex-Blaze members (guitarists and bass player). Blaze themselves (what's left of them) are fronted by ex-Iron Maiden singer Blaze Bayley. All their stuff is produced by Andy Sneap which makes it sonically a bit like Machine Head (except, y'know, not crap. ) Edited February 1, 2005 by Radagast

For me you can't beat a good bit of Mogwai or Godspeed You Black Emperor
Radagast Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 I know I should probably have grown out of them when I was about 14 ( ) but I went to see Megadeth on Thursday night. Fan-chuffing-tastic they were too, even if it is just down to Dave Mustaine and 3 tour musicians these days. Peace Sells/Mechanix medley - 'nuff said.
Tony Diamond Inc Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 (edited) [same here Eddie. What are you into. For me you can't beat a good bit of Mogwai or Godspeed You Black Emperor Ding dong!!! What excellent taste you have! As for everyone comparing Kasabian to the Roses - why? Just enjoy what is a fantastic album that brings back the chilled dance beats of 15 years ago Edited February 7, 2005 by Tony Diamond Inc
Scotty Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 As for everyone comparing Kasabian to the Roses - why? Just enjoy what is a fantastic album that brings back the chilled dance beats of 15 years ago Couldn't agree more TDI (see - I can do it!). Incidentally, I bought Hard-Fi's album a while ago and it's really starting to grow on me. The single Cash Machine is a cracking tune.
Dan Furness Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 'Plug In Baby' just on radio 1 I dedicate it to you Radaghast
Radagast Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 It's funny, because when the 'deth were kicking into the opening riff of Holy Wars...The Punishment Due I remember thinking: "I bet that dan_mark lad would love this".
Dan Furness Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 well name the choon, and I will have a listen
Radagast Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 Just yanking your chain mate, but by all means have a listen. If complicated riff structures are your thing then its pure gold.
stegraham Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 New Single by the re-formed "House of Love" is great. Also the new single by Duke Spirit is a Bobby Dazzler - rock'n'roll!
Dan Furness Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Just yanking your chain mate, but by all means have a listen. If complicated riff structures are your thing then its pure gold. sounds decent
rog of the rovers Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Just listening to the Killers new album they are awesome.
Scotty Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Just been listening to Athlete's new album - good stuff. The single Wires has to be one of the most beautiful songs of this or any other year. Also, finally, got the Zutons album - got to listen to it lots before I go and see them next month.
Friarsnig Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 'FRAGILE ' by Yes. What an amazing album. I first heard it 25 years ago, and the other day I bought a CD copy, appropriately enough from Accrington. I'd almost forgotten how good it is. Fantastic musicians!
RoyRover Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 I've been listening to some of The Killers stuff, which is such a change from the bland nonsense being pumped out at the moment. The Stereophonics new song is surprisingly brilliant.
Radagast Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 Nightwish on Wednesday, Carpathian Forest on Friday and then local legends Syth on the 27th. Quite a good February, all things considered.
Drummer Boy Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 Just listened to "Smile" by Brian Wilson - a towering achievement as good as the hype suggests. As someone for whom the Beach Boys never did anything, I find myself puzzled by how good this album is and how it it defied all my prejudices based on Wilson's former band. If you buy nothing else but this you will have done well.
