At the previous meeting we had complaints about the change from Strongbow to Inch's under AOB - this was just a one line reply recognising that the club had listened and changed back. Do you think that other issues should be raised because they aren't as important as the main items? Quote

It’s a shame they can’t be inclusive enough to provide wheelchair users with an area under a covered stand during a game. Im looking forward to Waggott coming and joining the drenched wheelchair users the next time it’s pissing it down. The horrible twat. 7 Quote

There’s lots of evidence, have a look at a club a few miles to the south of Ewood for a start. First of all they've never offered a cheap season ticket. Second, our own history proves this argument to be complete bollocks because when we did slash season ticket prices there was a massive uptake and the club actually made more money. I suppose when you're a lazy thieving lying piece of shit then everything is too hard. 3 Quote

Other clubs have designated covered areas in the stands where wheelchair users can watch the match like any other fan and enjoy the same atmosphere. Edited December 5, 2024 by Forever Blue Quote

It would cost relatively peanuts to put up a bus stop like structure on the riverside concourse for the wheelchair users down the front. I cant believe I have been sat there for 30 years watching them get soaked every match when it rains and nobody at the club does anything about it. 2 Quote

JHRover Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Not long ago they spent many thousands of pounds on the totally unnecessary vanity project of building three new TV gantrys on the Riverside stand. All to make the ground look better/more full on TV. Then there's thousands more employing people to plan a housing estate for Brockhall Yet no money to repair the 35 year old drainage or shelter disabled supporters. There's your priorities. 2 Quote

Of course it's not perfect and ideally there would be a properly designed space for wheelchair users. But it is open to anyone in a wheelchair, JW and Riverside as well as Blackburn End. And, as I say, most wheelchair users choose not to go up. Quote

The question is : Why do wheelchair users prefer to stay in the rain, rather than go to the provided box. There has to be a reason that could be addressed. Edited December 5, 2024 by rigger Quote
... Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Many people in wheelchairs are independent and opt to sit in open areas mainly because the view is better, some don't mind the rain and accept that, that is part of going to a game for them, they can either stay home or get out and watch the footy so I think alot is through choice, however those unable to voice their opinion or through health reasons are unable to be out in the wind and rain there should be a viewing platform. The Riverside I feel would best be suited to make some form of ammendment for a raised viewing platform, it's close to car parks so straight round the back where it's not as busy, it's would be easier to construct a separate area there than say jack walker stand or blackburn end, and would offer a great view from the corner section (home side) Quote

Mattyblue Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 To be entering 2025 and to still have no bespoke disabled facilities is a disgrace, no other way to dress it up. 6 Quote

Fully agree. I remember watching Rovers v Watford in the 90s as a kid and remember seeing all these people being lined up in a concrete raised area toward the Darwen end Nuttall Street stand even then there was atleast something. Just need that sheltered zone though. Gotta be easy enough Edit: Just been looking at old photos I can't find it for the life of me I must of imagined it Edited December 5, 2024 by BlueNWhiteArmy . For ages I've been looking for a blue and white scarf of the University type which is striped rather than the bar type. I even asked but was told they wouldn't be stocking any as they didn't think there would be a big demand. With Christmas just around the corner most clubs have many items with a club and Christmas theme but aside from jumpers and cards I don't think we do anything. My daughter always got me a voucher for the shop at Christmas but I asked her not to get me anymore because, like you I ended up with bags of sweets and tat. We looked at doing our version of this but the minimum order numbers are quite high…is there a massive pent up demand? Sadly we are a bit late now for Christmas… Quote
