It's basically just the minimum wage: 23+ £10.42 21-22 £10.18 18-20 £7.49 16-17 £5.28 I agree though, not exactly much of an incentive to give up your Saturday afternoons. One thing that did stand out for me though was, that it look like things are going to improve 🤣 : Edited October 27, 2023 by windymiller7 1 Quote
DeeCee Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 I've employed lots of 18-20 year olds in the past 20+ years, a great deal of them aren't worth that. Can't put their phones down and graft, the cream usually rises to the top. 4 Quote

I suppose you get what you pay for. £6 an hour is pathetic and certainly not enough to warrant giving a fuck about the job you're doing. For that much you're lucky anyone turned up. Quote
Hasta Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 When they pay you for an hours work practically what they charge you for a pint, something is wrong. 4 Quote
tomphil Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 (edited) A job is a job and when you are being paid to work you do the best you can when you are young. Some of the comments fuckin ell have you never grafted ? Lets give kids 15 quid an hour to hand over pies and coffee and try and be polite about it, because those receiving it won't be happy at the double prices to pay your wages. Sorry, I just think that paying people less than what is required to sustain yourself is wrong. To put it into football terms, don't expect Premier League talent for League Two wages. Quote

It's handing food over a counter and taking payment for a few hours they aren't doing 12 hour shifts over vats of boiling oil. Some grip and perspective needed it's just pocket money to most of them. Upside Down Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 So you guys would be happy being paid £6 an hour. Cool. Quote
Mattyblue Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 (edited) At 16 when living at home like most of these lads and lasses will be? Of course. Like tomphil says just a Saturday job for a bit of pocket money that I bet we all did back in the day. The £10 adult rate is the far bigger issue. Edited October 28, 2023 by Mattyblue 3 Quote

Wheelton Blue Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 My daughter went down to a recruitment event a few months ago at Ewood. Thanks but no thanks, was her view. She got double the money Soxexho offer by waitressing locally. Quote

tomphil Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 (edited) It's the concept that is all wrong not the wages, these lot are paying the same as Mcdonalds pro rata i'd assume. The whole franchising things out taking the easy option for a fixed fee and letting them do what they want is where it falls down. Sadly these companies are specialist catering companies fashioned for football stadia etc and it's the modern way. They have a profit margin and set wages across the board and nothing will alter that it's the usual one size fits all approach. Edited October 28, 2023 by tomphil Quote
