Useless Eustace?

I think we'll lose him. Its impossible to ignore what a great job he's doing here on scraps

Some club will offer him more and Venkys won't match it, let alone top it.

It’s not just about the money, If I was Eustace I’d want to go somewhere were it isn’t a circus. Somewhere that is relatively stable with owners you can actually communicate with and rely on. With the chicken chokers you can rely on them letting you down.

Real owners who take a serious interest in the club wouldn’t need to be told.

Yes, but the popular view on here is that they only take a passing interest in us and probably don't even know when we're playing.

If that's the case then it's Waggott's responsibility to sort stuff out on a day to day basis within the budget allocated to him and make a successful case for extra funding as and when required.

‘Popular view on here’, so I take it you have a different view? Which is what, that they actually are interested?

They have a funny way of showing it.

No, I wouldn't go so far as to say they don't know when we're playing etc but generally I think it's likely that they agree an annual budget with Waggot and Co. and then by and large they are expected to get on with it. They won't be micromanaging the Club from India.

If our better players' contracts aren't being extended or improved or additonal funding is needed for transfers then imo that is as likely to be down to Waghail not bothering to ask the question rather than them refusing.

As was the case during Covid by Mowbray's own admission.

It’s still their fault more than Waggott’s, they employ him.

I’m happy with Eustace, he brings what we need. I do get a feeling that he’ll be a bit of a middle of the road championship manager in the future though. I’ve obviously no way of proving that other than a gut feel, but get the feeling from him he’ll always be a manager that gets a mid-table team to flirt with the playoffs and not much else. Would be interesting to see how he’d get on at a big spending team.

Incredibly there are still some that really underestimate the job he's done here.

Our attacking options are woeful, absolutely woeful. Nobody in our front 4 on Weds would even get on Leeds' bench and we've taken 4 points from them this season.

He's down to his last two fit senior CBs yet Pears has 10 clean sheets this season.

The man is working miracles. Now maybe he's got a terrible eye for talent and if you gave him £5m he'd spend it on absolute dross, but that's about the only hypothetical criticism I can make.

Agree on the forwards, however the back 4 and two in front of them are as good as anything in the division, Leeds included. I don’t underestimate it, but there are certain managers who thrive off those sorts of challenges and scenarios. Big Sam was one of them, but he doesn’t get considered for the Man City job does he? Still early in his career, let’s see where we end the season before coming up with the miracle shouts.

We'll probably fall away by the end of the season because he'll be given nothing to spend when in a position of power. Then at the end of the season he'll probably say he's had enough and move onto better things. Then we'll be back to square one where some other poor schmuck will be sold a dud. Round and round in circles

We might find that out next season.

Why do you think they are doing anything other than refusing?

I know you are forever keen to deflect criticism away from the owners where possible but surely even now you must realise its not just a case of them not being asked. They have been actively slashing the budget for years. As if its just a case of them not being asked.

They couldn’t care less. Anybody who can’t see that hasn’t  been paying attention.

i can definately see eustace leaving for west brom if they approach him,he`s wasting his time here on a club who`s owners don`t want it to progress

He’ll have weighed that up by now. He’s got himself back into work and into the shop window. If he’s here this time next year I’ll be amazed.

Imagine when sitting down with Waggott or whoever it was who offered him the job last February. You can imagine the bullsh1t being fed in a bid to persuade him to take the job mid-season.

- No restrictions on the owners

- They're wonderful people desperate to see the club succeed

- They'll spend where they can within FFP limits

All the same guff they come out with to the fans all the time but there's no evidence to back it up.

As an outsider coming in it probably sounds fantastic. Get us safe, get to the summer, naturally will lose a few including Szmodics but at least they'll reinvest and that will be an opportunity.

Then summer comes and goes with another 8 figure net transfer fee profit and we end up spending a bit here and there mainly on free agents and a couple of overseas players.

Knuckle down, logic being that if we get to January in contention they'll surely sense an opportunity to go up and release some cash from the vast amounts they've recouped recently.

Probably told by 'the board' (whoever they are) during November and December there's money to spend on some players, don't worry, we will sort it.

Come February 1st we and Eustace will know what the game is. Unfortunately for us we've seen it all before and are praying that they will change their ways but know it is highly unlikely. For Eustace he's still relatively new to these shenanigans but come February will have had two windows of it and will know that if they don't back him now they never will. I reckon it is at that point he realises there's no point being here.

Window closes 3rd February so his realisation might take a little longer.
