Up until the recent fans forum meeting when he turned up there had been a sustained refusal, despite various requests, for him to in any shape or form engage with supporters. No interviews, no photos, no comments, nothing. Then suddenly, after all these years, he appears at a forum. I wonder what has changed? Way back when Gary Bowyer got the boot and Paul Lambert was employed it was clear that he was a central figure behind the scenes and responsible for much of what was going on. After this they then had the charade of advertising for an 'owners conduit' - one of the job requirements being multi-lingual - and posted this advert on the website even though it was clear only a very small number of people could satisfy those requirements, and it seemed the man they wanted was already effectively doing the job. I suspected at the time this was work permit related. I think it was 2019 before they confirmed his existence publicly by announcing the new 'Senior Management Team' where he was named as Suhail Shaikh and in January 2019 was announced as 'owners representative / operations and management consultant'. Since then he has remained but we've had a myriad of titles and job descriptions up to today where he is described as 'Chief Operating Officer' on the website. Now my interpretation of this is that he has transitioned from being an employee of the owners in India / consultant to eventually becoming an employee of the club. Like everything else at Rovers it is just very odd, unusual and strange. He only agreed to a meeting with WATR as they were about to go public with a vote of no confidence in the ownership. It seems to have calmed things down for now. Quote

ruggles1995 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I know this thread is old, and I'm more than likely very behind on this subject. But out of curiosity is this man still at the club? Does he attend matches and does everything still go through him and Venkys? Quote

According to the official website he is now an employee of the club oddly titled 'chief operating officer' which is a slightly higher and more prestigious position than 'owners rep' or whatever he was before (he's had about 6 different job titles since Cheston made a fool of himself not knowing what to call him). I'm not entirely sure what the difference is between a Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer but the clear suggestion is that he sits below Waggott in the order of command, which we all know is not the case in practice. Some have said that he spends half his time flying back and forth between here and India, which if true would lead me to question how he can perform the role of 'Chief operating officer' of Blackburn Rovers. There are also two other directors, named on the club website, both apparently executive directors and thus employed by the club, in Mr Rao and Mr Babu. I've never seen or heard of either of them. I wonder if either attend Ewood or matches or have any meaningful contribution to the Club in return for their wage. 1 Quote

lraC Posted January 6 Posted January 6 It has been stated in the transfer thread, that he is the one making the final decision on everything and is therefore responsible for things like the transfers breaking down and by the sounds of it the ground falling into disrepair due to his decision not to allow expenditure required for such matters. Whether he admits to that or not, or has a title fitting of essentially deciding the very future of the club though is debatable. He needs to become a but more visible in my opinion and also admit to what he is actually responsible for, hence the JDT quote form last year "Ask Suhail and Steve". 5 Quote
