Scott?

On Hedges and Dolan, they aren't those type of players.

Wingers to me are players like when we had Ripley and Wilcox putting crosses into Shearer. ACD is the only natural winger we got, Dolan, Weimann and Hedges play from the wide area of the pitch but also drift inside pitch at times,

exactly where I thought they would

So wingers play on their natural sides like Ripley and Wilcox, but ACD is our only natural winger?

Make it make sense!

I played full back in my playing career and if I could get the winger I was playing against cutting inside it was job done. On no account would you allow the winger to get past you on the outside.

If that happened your defence would be turned and would be running back towards their own goal. In that case watching both the player in possession of the ball and the player you’re supposed to be marking becomes really difficult.

What you have today is players coming inside, running into traffic, being shepherded along the 18 yard line, and bunching the play. The play is always in front of the defenders and therefore being able to watch the player in possession and the player you’re supposed to be marking is much easier.

If you want a classic example watch the Tugay-Pedersen-McCarthy goal against Liverpool back in the day.

That's just dinosaur tactics Tyrone, the data says otherwise.

No. Dolan and Hedges aren't wingers tho. Dolan played more inside than he did wide. ACD is a winger who can go either wide

So is not pissing about with the ball at the back until you give it away and concede a totally unnecessary goal seemingly.

The data says this is the right way to play.

Once your central defenders are having to turn and run back towards their own goal you’re in deep shit. As Sunderland proved today.

The data says this is the wrong way to play.

But your initial point was that modern wingers play as inverted wingers i.e. on their wrong side so they come inside.

Now you’re saying Dolan isn’t a winger cos he ‘plays inside’

Lay off the eggnog!😉

Couldn’t make the game today but from watching the highlights where was whoever was playing left wing ( Hedges ? ) Beck was left completely isolated for both goals.

Not really. He had a one on one with a winger and was not close enough and too slow. (I say this as a fan of his.)

We are 5th in the league, fair do's to this group, outstanding effort. Ainsley Pears, I hammered you last season (fairly), but you have been one of our top performers this season. We really need Harry Leonard to find fitness and form to stay in and around this position as I think he is the only natural finisher at the club.

A good point against a very good team. What this team lacks in quality, it makes up for in resilience.

If we can add a left winger, striker, and cover LB in Jan then we have a good shot at the top 6.

Eustace is doing an unbelievable job.

with the resources given to him, absolutely fantastic job he`s doing, though i am worried about west brom coming in for him,if expected the ***** who run the club sabotage his efforts

I've never said Hedges and Dolan are wingers cos they aren't. Alot of players who play in wide areas whether in PL, championship or league 2 play inverted. Simple as

Suggested you keep off the beer and stick with the buzz fizz

24900 on today. That must be about 9k walk-ons.

About 8.5 walking. Great effort by everyone single one

You’ve tied yourself in knots. Only Houdini can escape from that!

Not sure what buzz fizz is but I think I probably need some now.

It was somewhere around that number. maybe a few hundred more.

My walk-on number was a rough estimate

Was only asking because I didn't know the actual ST number. I wasn't trying to catch you out.

Personally I don't think 18k home fans is that much to crow about - but then again under this regime and given we have so few ST holders - may be it is.
