Mattyblue
He’s right on that score though. When was the last time we all got giddy about a big crowd… and actually won

I was spending Xmas with my in-laws in the East Midlands but by Boxing Day was really in need of a break. I managed to get through to someone in the ticket office that morning who told me the game was sold out, but with some begging and pleading they managed to find me a single ticket in the Riverside, so I drove up to Ewood. In that game, Niall Quinn and Kevin Phillips gave us a real lesson in what a strike partnership was all about (we had Grabbi up front on his own) and completely ripped our defence apart. Craig Short got himself sent off and we were probably lucky to only lose 3-0. Attendance was just a few under 29,000. Still enjoyed getting away from the in-laws for the day though ! This time I'm not making the trip, but will be watching on TV. Not confident about it and would accept a draw but hoping for a 2-1 win. COYB That was when Henning Berg came to the touchline just before half time to demonstrate with Souness he'd got his tactics totally wrong wasn't it?
Old Codger
Sunderland are grinding out results when it matters, and Rovers have wobbled after a decent spell doing the same. We really need Yuki and Big Mak to step up, forget the nerves and bang in some lovely goals over the festive period, with the same resolve across the rest of the team that has brought us the clean sheets of recent weeks. A good result would be a 'good result'! Boxing Clever - Rovers 2 Mackems 0 Boxed in and Bamboozled - Rovers 1 Wearsiders 2 Box me Backwards and Bend me Black & Blue - Rovers 3 Faux Geordies 1 COYB!! Merry Christmas to one and all!

I'm not aware of many other examples of clubs loaning out their captains to rivals mid-season but then again not many other clubs operate like this one. Of course as time has gone by and Travis' importance both on and off the pitch has become more and more apparent it only looks even more of a shocking decision and just imagine had we actually got relegated off the back of it. Some want to console themselves by believing the party line that it was all the fault of that nasty unreasonable JDT. Nothing to see here folks, nothing at all to do with Venkys, shadow man or Waggott, the wage savings of course just a convenient by-product. A bit like it being ever so convenient that Ian Silvester suffered amnesia and forgot how to submit a transfer form on deadline day and that conveniently saved the owners the expense of spending on new quality signings..... JDT saying that Travis was "one of the more expensive boys in our group" said it all. Anything to save a few quid a week.

Not good enough That thought went through my mind. He’s too easily out muscled for me, Dolan not so much so, he’s older and a bit stronger. I’ve never liked wingers playing on their wrong wing. It really handicaps them in my opinion. The full back already knows what they’re trying to do.

They don’t spend their nights annoying the neighbours under the street lights playing “ Wally “ anymore. Were you could only use your “ weaker foot “. Until you didn’t have a “weaker foot “ .
yeti-dog
This seasons Travis is a big loss. Pickering less so as we have Beck but if he gets injured we'd be fooked at left back.

It's more the money side, Gallagher was the biggest earner and Rovers were offered a fee for him as well. If it was a matter of money, Gallagher would have been first out of the door. islander200
Travis has already publicly said his and JDT'S relationship was the reason for him leaving. And JDT hadn't started him in Central midfield in the 3 months leading up to January
Mattyblue
Then just days after the window shut JDT went too (after it was clear he was soon to be on his way all through January). So a bit of a daft decision to let the captain go, wasn’t it.

That's only true for a normal club.
