Have to say, that's a brilliant first half.
Quick and aggressive in attack; if we had a forward who could finish, we'd be 3-0 or 4-0 up at HT.

Haven't missed Trav, which is a big compliment to Baker and the back line are very well drilled.

JE has this spot on so far.
Big test of our intentions this season and, after 45 minutes, so far so good.

Agree with most of this but Baker not really mobile enough for me. Quality on the ball, but struggling to close his man down. The way we are setup to counter attack its not so much of a problem today but not convinced for when we are more open.

Dolan was offside from when Ohashi headed it although Ohashi wasn't trying to pass to him and it hit a Sunderland player and went 90 deg into Dolan's path. Not sure what the offside rule is on that, must be offside!

Dolan was stood in an offside position but the ball ricocheted off a Sunderland player last. Does it not have to be an intentional action from the defender these days?

I disagree with that interpretation. The Sunderland defender is there trying to interfere with things as any player would......that he didn't intend to have the ball knock off him to an opposition player in a scoring position when he was there to make a play of some kind........ & the ball goes in a much different direction....that's being played onside in my book.  But then, don't get me started on certain parts of the newer "unnatural position" part of handball.

But when Ohashi knocked it forward Dolan was offside, I don’t think it then coming off a Sunderland player makes it a new phase but who knows!

I've been trying but he's done his more usual disappearing act today.

Sky commentators certainly noticing him and how he and Baker haven’t given the Sunderland midfield a moment to breathe

I don't disagree with you but I "think" the law was changed so that if the ball deflected inadvertently of a defender it didn't count. Maybe one of our resident laws experts can confirm.
