v Hull City (h) - 29/12/2024

With Leeds away and then 'that lot' to come, this is a pretty important game for Rovers. Need a win to go into those two matches with confidence.

Could be a good game for ACD to start, and would be good to see Leonard get more minutes as well.

I'll go 2-0 Rovers. If PNE can beat Hull as they did yesterday then Rovers should be doing the same.

Would be saving the heavy rotations for the leeds game. Jrc for brittian to keep things fresh, I prefer Buckley to baker, ACD a must back on the wing. Dolan over Hedges.

              Pears

Jrc.   Hyam.  Batth  Beck

        Tronstad  Buckley

ACD.        Cantwell.      Dolan

                Ohashi

Subs: Toth, Fadz, Brittain, Baker, Hedges, Weimann, Leonard, Gueye & an under 21 player.

I personally think our form has turned.

A late salvaged point yesterday should turn the momentum in our favour for tomorrow, and with everyone expecting a win, we know what happens next.

Rovers 0 Hull 1 13,873

Don't turn up tomorrow.

Hull will want to avenge the reverse fixture down the M62 so will be looking to exploit our frailties (mind you, any team worth their salt will do their homework and be a threat, so no change there).

I'm expected JE to get his troops psyched up appropriately, with the long game in mind. Clearly we aren't going to win against every team in the division, and we have sufficient question marks and passengers on our books to ensure we can't be 100% confident of anything until the final whistle goes in a game.

I hope we begin another mini-run after the comeback yesterday, with Yuki getting into positions to nick some more poachers goals, Cantwell finding better form and beginning to dominate where his quality allows, and our defence showing the steel and resolve that I am beginning to feel with see us through safely this campaign.

Wild West - Rovers 4 Hull 0

A Humber - Horror - Rovers 1 Bridgemen 2

Holy Cow and Hallucinations - Rovers 5 Nowhere Men 3

COYB!

Off topic slightly , but can anyone understand why we would rearrange the Portsmouth game for the middle of January, making 8 games that month, when we have only 4 games in February?

Just doesn't make sense to me 🤷‍♂️

Usually they have to put a rearranged game into the first reasonable available midweek slot available, which i thought would be inbetween Luton and Milwall the other week. Not sure why it didn't go in there.

The reason it hasn't gone into Feb despite the lack of games is because of the FA Cup 4th round.

It can't go in the midweek before the 4th round (after preston home) incase they want either club to play on the Thursday night if through, and it can't be in the midweek of w/c 17th Feb because that's where any games needing rearranging from 4th round day would go.

Same with midweek w/c 24th Feb as that's before the FA Cup 5th round, and again they might want Thursday night FA Cup games that week too.

You fancy being Club Secretary, Mark? Reckon you’d make a better fist of it than some of the other folk we’ve had…

Ha I am for my lads team funnily enough, not sure i would fancy it with Waggott and Co though!

Didn't both clubs reject that date?

No idea I might have missed that.

How many changes would you be making for the Leeds game?

4 or 5.

Tronstad needs a rest at some point, wether they can take him off on the hour in a couple of games and rest him in the cup perhaps.

The 2nd string attacking options like gueye, Leonard, Hedges, weimann come into contention.

Leeds could even be one to consider a back 5 and bring fadz in.

Must win. Cant see a world where you can play ACD and Dolan on the wings, neither offer any credible defensive support. Team picks itself for me:

Pears

Brittain Hyam Batth Beck

Tronstad Baker

Dolan Cantwell Hedges

Ohashi

I’m not a Hedges fan but I agree with that. ACD should be on the bench and replace Dolan at some point in the game. I might even rest Cantwell and give Buckley a go there. We’ve got to rest players. The game are coming at a ridiculous rate.

I’d rather take Cantwell (and Tronstad, Batth and Beck, if at all possible) if we’re winning by 60 minutes, personally.

I'd swap Hedges for ACD and attempt to get at least two goals clear by the hour mark at which point changes could be made if any of them are suffering from fatigue due to the schedule.

I would rest Tronstad for the Hull game.

I would put a very strong team out for that Leeds game not a weaker one.

We can beat Leeds again

We can but I have to say that I think it is highly unlikely. I think this one will be a home banker and therefore, we need to really target 3 points against Hull.

No game at this level not winnable.

We beaten them one, so lets make it double.

We shouldn't be writing off any game at this level
