It is.

Heres another worrying pattern - since promotion, we’ve accrued fewer points in the second half of every single season (anywhere from -2 to - 15)

I haven't looked but I imagine since promotion Venkys have spent fuck all in January.

Today was the antithesis of Boxing Day. There was an acute lack of energy, low tempo and very little intensity, three things that were the cornerstones of our six match winning run. It looked a game too far for too many of our players but a big factor was the missed chances, many of which looked easy from where I sit. Had we scored first I think we would have won but it wasn't to be. Although I rate Cantwell he really irritated me today with him taking too many touches and looking lazy. He needs to step up and start to create things for us which is why we signed him. Beck has flatlined too after such a great start for us but I don't really have concerns about him. Dolan was back to his 5/10 form today and Gueye just doesn't look like a Championship footballer. We need more from players that somebody whose perceived strength seems to be that he causes havoc. His movement in the penalty area is awful.

It's hugely important how we react to this defeat  and Eustace really needs to earn his money and come up with something for New Years Day. Personally I wouldn't be averse to going to a back five and just focus on tight defending and playing on the break.

I stated facts, how am I ‘wide of the mark’? I didn’t extrapolate any deep meaning from those results. Good runs, bad runs.

We’ll see what January brings in the transfer market. It will make the difference between maintaining a play off push and mid table. I’m surprised anyone is able to say anything else with any certainty.

Purely by suggesting people are overreacting. This is what Rovers have done for years, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that we lose the next three.

Much as I hate the chicken chokers results like this have been going on as long as I’ve been watching Rovers. In my first season 60 years ago we were drawn away at Fulham in the FACup. We got a good 2-2 draw. On the Monday we drew the dingles in the next round if we win the replay. Come the replay at Ewood a 0-1 shocker in front of a good crowd. Just never turned up.
Since then if I’d a £1 for every result like todays I’d be rich.

Yup. It happens time and ime again.  Wouldn't it be nice to buck the trend once and a while though.

That was a poor loss.

I don't know what the xG says, but it feels like they only had one shot on target (before we started chasing the game) and scored it.

Gueye, Weimann and ACD had shots blocked and Cantwell and Beck missed absolute sitters. On another day that's a 3-0 win.

We need several players in the window - a backup LB, another CM, at LEAST another wide player with pace.

You saw the difference when Baker went off - Buckley simply isn't up to it at this level. He's a liability. Sell him and Sigurdsson.

Until we actually spend some money I won't get excited about being in and around the Playoffs. Eustace is working miracles to have us anywhere near.

The most frustrating thing about Gueye is that all of his teammates are stood miles away from him. Cantwell wanders all over the shop and Dolan / ACD are stuck on their wings. He wins the ball and it just gets turned over. One of the three has to gamble that he's going to win it.

Speaking of ACD, he'd be a worldie if he had any pace. Too many times today he cut back inside rather than driving at his man 'cos he knew he didn't have the pace to run past him.

Much as I would love to be proved wrong, I whole heartedly agree on Gueye. To me he looks totally lost on a football pitch and his pathetic shot in the first half today, summed him up completely. It’s not the first time either, he is a dud so far in my opinion.

We have a small squad and have suffered imo to big losses in Travis and Pickering. We are sat in the top 6 going into the new year.

Minor miracles being performed by the manager and players. If we can get a few new players in and some of our injured ones back, we stand half a chance of being top 6 this season.

Presumably the 2 shots on target…

Isn't it about the chance rather than the outcome? i.e. Cantwell side footing wide from 8 yards out is a baaaaaad miss - doesn't matter if it's on target or not as 9 times out of 10 a professional player slots that home so it's a high xG chance.

First part is factual.

2nd part is an opinion, may turn out to be correct, may not.

If he'd said it at the same stage in any of the last 3 seasons he'd have been proved to be correct.

In the circumstances therefore you are quite right to question whether it is actually an over-reaction unlike your bold assertion originally.

I would say so yes.

1-0 either way is gonna be the most popular scoreline this season, sadly when we're not clinical it will go against us too.

Our lack of firepower means we can't afford to miss sitters, sadly it's gonna happen!

When we lose the next two, because we will from what I have seen over the past week or so, are we allowed to say 1 point from 15 is the start of a death spiral or do we just brush it off as playing good sides?
