v Hull City (h) - 29/12/2024

I thought we were alright. Pears’s distribution is very poor today and we pass it back too much but we’ve had a couple of good chances. ACD has been very good and grown into the game over the first half. Hull aren’t great though.

I’d be disappointed if we lost this match but I think we’re capable of putting one of these chances away in the second half. With a bit of luck Gueye could have scored already, he’s getting in the right places and causing Hull problems.

ACD the only real outlet, definitely having more joy down our right side but he is leading the charge. Dolan industrious if a little inefficient. Beck arguably being asked to do a bit too much currently.

Cantwell needs to make more happen for himself, he’s getting himself clogged up too deep. Gueye needs to find an extra 15-20% work rate to keep his place. Only looks for a pass when his feet get muddled and rarely chasing the ball back.

A few having off days (Tronstad looking a bit ropey) but quietly having a good game are Batth and Brittain.

If they score, it’ll be from their press against Pears’ distribution or a set piece. We need to be a bit more direct, like ACD has been.

With all the talk about cantwell being our talisman he's been really poor since coming here.

Not seen today but he’s been superb in some games, others he’s poor

Not sure we’ve done enough to be ahead that half really. Some poor distribution at the back and not that many clear cut chances at the other end.

Think it was Cantwell and Gueye getting in each other’s way for what would have been a good chance, beyond that, kind of half chances all around. A shout wouldn’t have hurt either of you lads!

If we manage to pick of as many points in the latter half of the season as we’ve done so far we’ll be dead certain for playoffs. Need to win games like these. Still hope we make it another 1-0 at home and 3 points. Style be damned if you will. COYB!

Terrible watch so far. Gueye offering little, he panics every time he has a shooting opportunity. Cantwell unable to influence the game. Duberry has been the main man with some great drives into the box. The defence has been good except when Hull decided to pressurize our “passing out from the back” tactics. Defenders have put Pears under pressure and he was struggling to get the ball away! He had to make a great save to redeem himself after one poor pass out!

It’s  hard to see where a goal is coming from!

ACD doesn’t seem very interested in passing to anyone

Because there’s barely been anyone near him! Aside from Gueye who for a striker, has one of the worst shots I’ve ever seen. Like he has clogs on when it comes to taking a shot. His passing is decent though for the most part, I find it rather odd.

The goal will come when Leonard comes on and Beck overlaps and drives one across the face of the goal

Hard to see where the goals will come from with him on at the 9.  Really think Leonard needs to get a run.

I'm not watching the game but I'd guess the reason for that is that he hasn't got Travis doing all the work for him so he can't just get away with doing a few bits and bats here and there.

With Leeds and the Dingles to come I feel we must get 3 points today or any realistic chance of top 6 will start disappearing into the ether.

If it's still 0-0 on 60- 65 mins I hope Leonard is given a good half hour or so to try and make a difference rather than just 10 mins. Leonard for Cantwell?

2 front men pulled for not delivering - let’s hope the 2 replacements do more

Gueye and Dolan off for Ohashi and Weimann.

On recent evidence I’d likely have Ohashi starting with Gueye as a battering ram sub on the hour.
