On one appearance. Really? Started off nervous. Gifted them 2 opportunities with shocking passes. One good save at a decent height for a keeper.

A few on here still hoping Pears drops a mighty clanger to justify their previous posts. He has been excellent this season.

Two good saves - one from a snapshot that would have taken him by surprise - and he claimed every cross in his 6 yard box.

It is what it is - the defence has been so good this season that they've taken all the pressure off Pears, but he's still a poor GK and Toth is clearly better.

Kevin Gallagher reckoned he should have thrown his cap on the one he palmed away and caught it.

Not that Pears is any better in that respect mind.

I’d have to see it back, I don’t think they showed a replay(the replays on my channel were pretty awful all match).

He's literally obsessed

Most of those twats are, they are forever writing comments on our YouTube videos. Can’t say I’ve ever felt the inclination to watch one of theirs, much less comment on it.

Toth was good. Immeasurably better than Wahlstedt, even on 90 mins viewing. Good to see.

Gregg really signed some crap didn’t he.

Great result, no injuries.

I would like a London prem team away next selfishly!

I have flights booked for the 8th February to London. The QPR game was down for that date and never copped it was an fa cup weekend so I'm with you on that 👍

A lot dismiss its importance but always good to get through to the next round of the cup and also to halt a poor run of form.

Boro rolled over with a massively changed side whereas we put close to our most likely available 11 out so you would expect us to win but a professional job nonetheless.

Defence again solid as a rock, never felt like we would concede. Toth made a decent save and a few standard catches although a couple of mistakes on the ball. Tronstad as ever very good.

Going forward we simply dont have the quality. Leonard is nowhere near it, missed some sitters and doesnt seem to understand the offside rule. Cantwell again anonymous, JRC never a winger and Weimann is over the hill but at least he has the ability to put away chances. We badly need some quality and pace through the door ASAP.

In light of Baker going back, Travis being out and signing Forshaw, Buckley unfortunately might have a bit of a run at game time. He again was terrible.

Our starting XI minus Dolan, Gueye / Ohashi, ACD, Travis and Carter. Clearly Eustace got it right today - personally I'd have rested the entire side, but that's why he's the manager and I'm sat in the stands.

Cantwell drifts too deep trying to get involved with the play. Leonard's movement, vision and touch is very good - his finishing isn't. JRC is sadly a utility man these days - valuable, but never going to nail down a spot in a settled side.

When we were casting a massive shadow over them I don't remember this from our fans. As we were watching Rovers hold the PL cup aloft at Ewood, not once did I think of them getting relegated to div 3. I was only later reminded of it in the Telegraph. Iirc, it was in a small column beneath a large photo of Alan Shearer winning the golden boot.

Back heel to Beck or Brittain - he’s a creator not a scorer… 😉

I think he struggles at times with not having better players around him. Just like when Benni was offside 20 times a match because the the midfielders weren’t quick enough 😉

Sorry didn't see your post.

No worries Rev, just think it’s a rabbit hole we leave there and if people want to go down it take it to the We Did Warn You section

I can't remember when I felt as confident of winning after going in front. Defensively we were so solid I honestly couldn't see Boro scoring despite them having a spell of pressure towards the end. However missed chances (and easy ones at that) could have been our undoing but a win is a win and we comfortably put ourselves in tomorrow afternoons draw when hopefully we get a chance to progress. Once again Tronstad was excellent and I commented during the game that he is one of the best midfielders in the Championship. The way he reads the game and sniffs out danger is massive for us. It was good to see some of the squad players getting some game time and I thought they were all decent without being outstanding. A special mention to the 700 Rovers fans who braved the awful driving conditions to get there. The appreciation from the players after the game was genuine and Cantwell made a young Rovers supporters day by giving him his shirt (he might get carpeted for that from Waggott though).

On that theme of 'one of the best in the Championship', Boro's young RW is getting pelters for his performance.

I think Beck is one of, if not the best, LBs in the division. He absolutely bullies people each and every week.

He's absolutely top class. If we did somehow scrape up via the play offs he's the only player in the current squad who's Premier League quality imo.

Shame he isn't our player.

Beck is undoubtedly a real talent who seems to me to be the complete full back. He can attack, defend, tackle and is comfortable in possession. His attitude seems to be really good too which isn't always the case when coming on loan from a huge club.

He’s got all the ingredients. It’d be a sleepless night if you knew you were up against him the next day. Oh, and don’t forget to bring your shin pads.

Boro fans very unhappy with Carrick, team selections and the manner of their performance.

I genuinely cannot understand the logic of gifting games to your opposition. If we had won 3-0 few could have complained. We barely raised a sweat in defence.

We now have the feel good factor going into our next fixture and can look forward to the next round of the draw. What can Boro take from today or look forward to?

Eustace starting to build a reputation amongst other teams fans. I sincerely hope we get him a couple of attacking players he believes in.

Absolutely deflating nothing draw when it came out of the hat but we can only play each game for a win.

The quality of our defending was outstanding and Toth looks a proper keeper even though he got away with two horror pass outs at the end of the first half. The second was miscontrolled by the Boro player and nicked by Beck to set up the excellent move from which Leonard made it 4 woodwork hits in a week (3 for the under 21s against Preston I believe). Harry matched that foursome with 4 offsides in the first half too.

Tronstad was as excellent as Buckle was, shall we say, frustrating. That said, Cantwell for me looked easily the best outfield player (even ahead of Beck who had some dodgy moments early on) and I would really like to see him alongside some seriously capable forwards as I think he would thrive and shine.

Gueye was very good when he came on and the ball started being touched if not won when he came on whereas Leonard had no stickability whatsoever. Some of Gueye's ground work was exceptional.

So it's off to the dingles in Round 4 I foresee ..
