roverandout Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Let me clarify. If it was a quarter final then the fa cup. But the early rounds bore me because we rarely get past the fourth round. England don't play to often so watching England play gives me some excitement especially when rovers are in a poor state of form Quote

ruggles1995 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Id like to see the following get minutes: (this is not a lineup, just a group of players I feel need it) Toth Duru Mcfadzean Costello Buckley Baker Tyjon Leonard Dubbery Gueye Think they all need minutes for one reason or another. 2 Quote
Ossydave Posted January 7 Posted January 7 When did Toth even play a game of some description? Can't recall seeing his name mentioned for the U21's at all lately ), believe he did have some kind of injury though. If he is called upon for the first time I suspect he's gonna be a little rusty.... Quote

Before him (QF in 12/13, 14/15 and fifth round 15/16, 16/17) and after (QF 22/23 and fifth round last season) we've actually got a decent recent record even since that lot darkened our doors. 4 Quote
Popular Post Mattyblue Posted January 7 Popular Post Posted January 7 Same with a pathetic amount of early round League Cup exits under him. What a breath of fresh air JDT was on that score. 11 Quote

Duru played 60mins for the U21s last night, so may get a start against Boro. 2 Quote
ruggles1995 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 now bakers gone I hope he doesnt get tempted into playing tronstad. He needs wrapping in cotton wool till Pompey. 1 Quote
MarkBRFC Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I imagine he would play Buckley and JRC as a midfield 2 on Saturday with Duru at right back and Garrett on the bench. 1 Quote

I always favour going for it in the cup and can never get my head around people who say they dont care about cup games. Our play off push is unlikely to be maintained but a win could also help to boost confidence after a very poor run of form. That being said, a small squad and a game so soon after mean that 2 or 3 definitely need resting. Tronstad is the obvious one, the centre backs need a rest and we need to protect Beck. The problem is, we lack depth in a number of areas. Buckley is crap, McFadzean is our only centre back cover and he will struggle in a back 4 so we will have to play at least 1 of the main centre backs and in other areas we dont have any good cover. We also know that signings wont be here in time. Toth JRC Hyam McFadzean Brittain Buckley Baker Hedges Weimann Dolan Leonard Beck, Pears, Batth, Tronstad, ACD and Cantwell can all come back to start v Pompey. Buckley also has an attitude problem, he popped up in my Twitter messages when he was loaned out cause I criticised his attitude sending sarcky messages and wouldn’t understand what I was trying to say that I rate his ability but his attitude ain’t right that’s why his performances have declined but he’s like a moody teenager. Friend made a post about him and I commented that his attitude is the problem and he messages my friend telling him to tell me I’m clueless and he always gives 100%…. It’s a disgrace how he thinks he can talk to fans like that, when your a pro footballer and a well paid one at that it’s part of the job to take criticism from paying fans who have supported the club a lot longer than you’ve been there, if he can’t handle it then quit football. there are many comments all over the net literally calling him useless is he messaging every fan ? One of the comments before mine was calling him shit so I assume he’s had a go at that guy ? Shows he will never succeed cause he clearly lacks the mentality, look at brereton the stick he got he soon put his doubters wrong and made them love him, that’s how a footballer is supposed to conduct themself. I don’t think eustuce would be best pleased with his actions 1 Quote

But without a win in five, the feel good factor from a good performance here would give the squad a timely lift. A lot of regular starters need a confidence boost, especially those upfront. It's pro football and we have a proud history in this competition. Let's pick a strong team and go and win the game. Here here! Blackburn itself was home to the original working class heroes in the fa cup, it is absolutely our bread and butter. Imagine the 1800's teams crying about being fatigued and not up for the greatest cup in world football. Get stuck in, rest a couple of players here and there, but go for it! Because knowing us weil rest all our players, be out of the cup and still not make the playoffs We've done so well in these types of cups the last few years, I went to the chelsea away and it was a great experience even though we lost. Old Codger Posted January 9 Posted January 9 (edited) Sheff Utd v Cardiff very sparsely attended this evening... Not up for the Cup elsewhere either 😉 Good goal from the Cardiff youngster just now - Ashford - similar look about him to young Leonard, but apparently better shooting boots... If we were looking to use 343 in our upcoming league games it would make sense to try it out, but if we are changing it just to accommodatea Fadz who has played virtually no minutes this season nor looks like he will in future and then bin it again what's the point? I'd just make a few changes but keep the core of the team as per our normal squad and system. Let's have a look at Litherland and see how Leonard and Gueye work as a two. Pears Brittain Baath Litherand Beck Buckley Tronstad JRC Leonard Dolan Gueye Subs : Toth, McFadz, Batth, O'Riordan, Garrett, Hedges, Wieman, ACD, Tyjon, THere's enough subs for wholesale changes if needed. roversfan99 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Quite a few need a rest. Problem is, the squads nowhere near big enough and we have to wait until the end of the month to see who we can borrow because in spite of sales, we still dont have money. The mighty Plymouth, Oxford and Preston can all spend money to get deals done early. Quote
