v Middlesbrough (a) - 11/1/2025, FA Cup R3

We need to win this one badly to get some momentum going imo.

Plus in the past when we've rested players we haven't looked the better for it on their return, the team have usually looked like they've never seen each other before and we rarely play well or get the win the following game.

I’d make 11 changes

Toth

McFazdden Riordan Litherland

JRC Garret O’Grady Hedges

Buckley

Leonard Weimen

Why don't we just concede the game and save fans from travelling ?

                  Toth

Brittain - McFaz - Hyam - Beck

              JRC - Buckley

    ACD - Weimann - Hedges

                Leonard

Couple of changes for me given the vast amount of winnable league games in January and the clear lack of interest for Venkys to fund our squad.

Batth and Tronstad both to be rested, Leonard to get 90 minutes in him. No other options for full back really.

I don't like the idea of JRC in midfield after his embarrassing stint there in the EFL cup earlier this season when he effectively cost us the game.

Sod it, how about a 4 4 Effing 2 😅

                    Toth

 JRC      Fadz       Hyam      Beck

ACD   Buckley   Garrett    Hedges

           Gueye   Leonard

Obviously this is a bit tongue in cheek in case anyone decides to take offense 😂

Don't know if already mentioned but Blubberhouses shut for anyone planning on driving over tomorrow morning, so its either M62 past Leeds or diversion round Otley or Pateley Bridge (brave in these conditions).

Don't see any reason why the game would be in doubt though. No snow or rain forecast.

Don't think so really unless they are injured or genuinely fatigued. Neither have looked like that to me, but obviously Eustace would have the best view.

Tronstad looked tired last game. Rest him.

Batth and Hyam ideally I would rested both. If we had another centre back available or a signing at centre back in

Buckley also has an attitude problem, he popped up in my Twitter messages when he was loaned out cause I criticised his attitude sending sarcky messages and wouldn’t understand what I was trying to say that I rate his ability but his attitude ain’t right that’s why his performances have declined but he’s like a moody teenager.

Friend made a post about him and I commented that his attitude is the problem and he messages my friend telling him to tell me I’m clueless and he always gives 100%…. It’s a disgrace how he thinks he can talk to fans like that, when your a pro footballer and a well paid one at that it’s part of the job to take criticism from paying fans who have supported the club a lot longer than you’ve been there, if he can’t handle it then quit football.

there are many comments all over the net literally calling him useless is he messaging every fan ? One of the comments before mine was calling him shit so I assume he’s had a go at that guy ?  Shows he will never succeed cause he clearly lacks the mentality, look at brereton the stick he got he soon put his doubters wrong and made them love him, that’s how a footballer is supposed to conduct themself. I don’t think eustuce would be best pleased with his actions

These comments are not reflected in the support he gets from the Blackburn End when warming up on the edge of the pitch.

i don’t know why Buckley is being called out for a bad attitude but slagging off one of your own players is hardly going to make him play better or be appreciated by the fans.

Opinion on his ability and selection for matches is divided but from my experience he always gives his all when asked to play and deserves our support.

Spent some time in hospital a few years ago and Buckley was one of the Rovers players who was happy to record a video sending me his good wishes for my recovery which were much appreciated. Thankfully I’m still here to give him and all Rovers players my support.

The players do get support in the ground, thats not in question.

He comes across as petulant and half arsed when he gets a game. To be honest, I think he is nowhere near as good as he or many fans think purely in terms of ability. Hes passive, ponderous, doesnt seem to know what is around him and is prone to playing lazy passes and crosses forward.

Fact is fans are entitled to their opinion it’s nature of the game if he can’t handle that he can join the real world then he will sulk and moan. He’s on thousands a week he’s not performing. Players get called much worse and heavily criticised they don’t go messaging fans with attitude. Not only this but I’ve only criticised his attitude cause that’s what he comes across otherwise why is such a player with such ability not don’t it ? We all know he’s capable of more

Looking at those who’ve been on the bench in the last 10 games, JE probably owes this lot a game.

For me, he can’t risk Beck or Sonny. The signing of Sanderson eases the worry at cb.

                     Toth

      Hyam.  McFadz.  Batth

JRC     Garrett      Bucko     Hedges

       ACD   Gueye   Weimann

Subs - Pears, Litherland, Beck, Sonny, OG Macken, Dolan, Cantwell, Leonard.

First trip to The Riverside for me tomorrow. Hoping not to fall foul of this grim weather!

Don't expect much, it's dumped by the docks with not a great deal around bar a few pubs and it's always fucking freezing without fail!

We badly need to get back to winning ways, I wouldn't be resting as many players as some on here.

I'd honestly be inclined to try something different attacking wise though. Gueye up top with Leonard playing off him for the knock downs. Nothing to lose really, we can't afford to experiment too much in the league but I don't think anyone would have a meltdown if we went out today but showed a lot more attacking threat.

Fair enough. I see it as, it’s a game I’d like to win, but I’d much rather give a few of the squad some minutes with the hope we can play the likes of JRC, Weimann, ACD and in particular Gueye into some form! Most importantly, we need to protect Sonny and Beck who we cannot replace on Tuesday night vs Pompey.

Normally I'd be down for a cup run but the Portsmouth game is much more important for me, and we can't afford any more injuries.

Could be a good opportunity for some of those not playing to stake a claim as well.

End of the day players will get grief on social media if they aren’t performing nowt you can do about that.

But he gets a bloody good reception week in week out at Ewood considering he’s done bigger all, for what, two plus years now?
