roverblue Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Be a tough game, they were a big tough direct side in our game at Ewood earlier in the season. They did however look shaky at the back so would try to attack rather than do our usual soak up the pressure away from home approach and go for a more attacking team. Oxford 0-1 Rovers Quote

ruggles1995 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 my prediction: horrible watch, 1-1, difficult oppo, BIG Mak to score AGAIN! Quote
Old Codger Posted January 17 Posted January 17 I'm expecting a difficult game (yeah, I know - no easy games in this league!) and Oxford will be looking to avenge their defeat at Ewood. No doubt JE will have done the homework on how they set their stall up, and will select accordingly. I hope we go with a settled side, where the obvious team spirit and growing awareness of each others' style and abilities will help to patch over the threadbare realities of our squad. We shouldn't be arrogant, over-confident, OR over-cautious in setting out to play that works best for us. Let Oxford do their worst / best and just concentrate on the things we know we do well. No need to over analyse, over think or over plan - JFDI instead. Soccerratic inspriration - U's 0 - Oop Norf Nickers 1 Take a Punt - Oxford floaters 2- Boatburn Oarsmen 1 Flood plains of the Thames - United 1 - Niggly Norman Bell's Alma Mater 1 COYB !! Let's put a good run together! 5 Quote

MarkBRFC Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Don't really fancy us tomorrow, they are in great form and Rowett will play us at our own game, sit in, defend well and frustrate. Oxford 1 Rovers 0 Quote
neophox Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Tough game but our defence steady and Big Mac gets another header to seal it. 0-1 Quote
KentExile Posted January 17 Posted January 17 (edited) Oxford have signed Helik from Huddersfield, apparently he could play tomorrow Do I remember him always playing well against us? Edited January 17 by KentExile Quote

They are going through a new manager bounce so this will be a really tough game. They gave us a really tough game at Ewood and I expect similar here. Pears Brittain Batth Hyam Beck Tronstad Buckley ACD Cantwell Dolan Gueye Unfortunately I feel like it'll be a 1-0 defeat. One of those fine margin type matches. I expect Buckley will start again and he'll probably be too casual and get caught on the ball, which is where our downfall will be. ACD and Gueye arguably deserve starts after last night, and then its a toss up between either Dolan or Hedges in the other wide position. Where's Weimann.. one goal and one assist against Pompey Quote

It’s a real positive for me as a Head Coach to know we are bringing in a player who can affect the starting XI straight away. We are excited to work alongside Michał going forward.” I’d forgotten this was allowed 😁😁 6 Quote

cesus Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Really going to need to use the squad playing 3 games in 6 days. Eustace must surely have thought he would have had some more game ready signings in for this run of winnable fixtures. The players have seldom let us down this season, fatigue is going to catch up soon. I'd be very happy with a draw today. 2 Quote
moerpho Posted January 18 Posted January 18 (edited) I’m thinking the upcoming fixtures including this one is close to impossible to predict. Fatigue will be a problem sooner rater than later so I’m expecting a cautious approach from Eustace. Important to try and avoid suspensions and injuries and at the same time being competitive. So I’ll gladly take 0-0 and a boring game if we come out the other end unscathed. A point away from home is always good. Hoping for another 3 points and 3 goals, but head doesn’t quite agree. Still: COYB!!!! Edited January 18 by moerpho Forgot a word Quote
ben_the_beast Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Big, big game today. The win against Pompey stopped the slump, but this can help to rebuild some momentum, especially given the winnable fixtures we have in January. I do feel every win we get this month adds internal pressure to bring in some proper reinforcements. The odds are it won't matter one bit, but we've seen over the years how fickle our owners are. A bit of momentum could help to sway opinions that the playoffs are a genuine possibility this year. Whether that be at board level or ownership. (Put the sentence in bold to pre-empt the multiple responses saying there's not a snowball in halls chance that this'll happen.) Quote
RTM08 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 A win today would be huge, but an away game at a side in good form is going to be a tough ask and we could really do with more bodies to help deal with the fixture list. 1-1 for me, but if we could pull a couple of points back on the teams above us after the draw yesterday it would be welcome. norwichblue Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I’ve done my usual checking of the book odds and opposition forum sleuthing. Bookies have us as favourites to win. Sentiment is generally high amongst the Oxford forums - expecting a tight game but most expecting the home win. One of them described Blackburn as a “bus stop in Burnley” so I hope we thrash them for that. I can’t predict this one at all tbh. Any point on the road is valuable, but would be delighted with 3. COYB! 🔵⚪️🌹 Quote
jim mk2 Posted January 18 Author Posted January 18 We're setting off soon, thermos flasks filled, hip flasks at the ready and rugs, gloves, scarves and rattles on board. Will this be our group's first win of the season? I desperately hope so. 1 Quote
