When he scored 60 top flight league goals in a season, 21 of them were headers. Don't think anyone is ever beating that. i don`t think my old dad was old enough to see dixie dean play!!!!! i can only go with what he believed, personally the best header of a ball i`ve ever seen was the man city defender michel vonk,it used to go prodigious distances and in the right direction

Very Oldie
I remember going over to Maine Rd, to see Denis play for Torino in a game against City, in Oct 1961, Then to Old Trafford, a month later to see an Inter-League game (very popular, back then) - Football League v Italian League, also including Denis, as was a similar game against The Scottish League. SEVERAL FRIENDS AND I SEEM TO SHARE A 'MEMORY' OF ANOTHER OF THESE, A FEW DAYS LATER, PLAYED AT BLACKBURN. CAN ANY EWOOD OLDIE PLEASE CONFIRM WHETHER WE ARE ALL MIS-REMEMBERING THIS??!! I CAN'T FIND ANY TRACE OF THE MATCH, DATE OR PROGRAMME ANYWHERE........... Thanks

Three Welsh strikers- Ron Davies at Southampton, Wyn Davies at Newcastle and John Toshack at Liverpool for instance.
Ianrally
My dad reckoned Tommy Lawton was the greatest header he ever saw. Stan Matthews said this, "Quite simply, Tommy was the greatest header of the ball I ever saw." I never saw Lawton so I’ll have to go with Denis as I certainly saw him . Thanks There is a documentary on Sky about Denis called “Lawman”, and there is certainly a small clip showing him score at the Darwen End. No idea of the year, sorry.
