Gamst Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Valiant effort given all that’s going on. Deserved a point and got unlucky. We might have had a better chance with a few more players. Another game wasted without reinforcements. Criminal and hardly surprising JE wants out. Quote

First goal possibly could have done better but good free kick. Second, big deflection. One really good save to prevent a goal. Any other 'errors' didn't cost us. Quote
rovers11 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Forget top 6, we need to make sure we get enough points to avoid a relegation scrap. We're sinking like a stone as we always do this time of year. Venkys really are scum. 3 Quote

Just shows how poor a league it is when it's taken this long for us to drop out. Such a shame they're not supporting Eustace, we probably won't get a better chance. 1 Quote

He got beaten at his near post for the second goal. Criminal. 3 Quote

We just can't put teams to the sword when we're on top due to the continual neglect of the owners and their two toadies. And it doesn't help that Pears allowed a soft free kick in which was completely against the run of play. 1 Quote

OnionBalaji Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I hope we never ever see the midfield pairing of Big Bollocks Buckley and Frail Forshaw ever again Can’t wait to see the excuses come Feb 4 or optimistic spin for once: FFP can’t be an issue, considerable money has come in on transfer fees, we sacked the man who couldn’t hit send or work a fax machine, or drive the paperwork to EFL hq in Preston (so no scapegoat) wonder if shaggot the maggot and Pasha are sharpening their blades for Gestede to be the scapegoat this time as the work experience lad messing up, but don’t worry he’s a Rover legend let’s forgive 3 Quote

The only thing that would help is to find two good goalscorers, a quick winger that's excellent at crossing, a good midfielder and a goalkeeper. All of them ready to play. Venkys spontaneously combusting would be a massive boon too. Quote

Ricky Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Again, with a striker we could have had that game wrapped up. Missed some decent chances before going down 2-1. We were well on top when they scored the winner. Initially I thought it was an awful error by Pears. The replay showed the deflection took it away from him. 1 Quote

He did seem to dive behind the line instead in front but it was an excellent free kick. Incidentally, when did we last have a set piece taker who could curl it in like that? I think even Robbie Savage could strike a dead ball better than most of our present squad. Quote
cesus Posted January 25 Posted January 25 If we could have signed two players just so they never scored against us it would be Emile Heskey and Nakki Wells. It's crazy how often they seem to have scored against us. Quote

There was no pace on it and it was at the right level to save it. A good keeper saves it, but his positioning was terrible. Quote

One really good save to prevent a goal. Any other 'errors' didn't cost us. First goal was entirely preventable - his positioning was poor for starters. He was slow to get across to the relatively soft shot, even getting a weak hand to it and pushed it into the goal. Second goal took a deflection, but once again, his positioning was poor and his reactions equally so. A professional GK should not be beaten from that angle, by that weak shot. On top of that, his poor decision making should have cost us another goal, but Brittain's goaline clearance bailed him out. He's benefitted massively from a much more organised defence this season, but the same old Pears has still been there throughout - and we've seen the warning signs quite regularly. He's just not good enough and costs us points. 4 Quote
Inferi Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Pears had a very poor game but this loss is on the owners. The club's lack of activity and ambition in the transfer window is a disgrace after pocketing huge transfer profits. Even more so considering the current state of the squad. Having to start Buckley and Forshaw in midfield is unacceptable. Neither would start games for any other Championship club. Zero support to the manager from the owners and zero points from three very winnable games. Disgusting. 5 Quote
rovers11 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 (edited) If you bring in players like Sanderson and Forshaw to "help the group", then these are the kind of results you get. Constant downgrading of the squad, which we've seen again this window, eventually takes you to league one. Edited January 25 by rovers11 4 Quote
