It’s a real head scratcher with the injuries. Fwiw, even had we signed a winger and a striker, we’d still be short.

I’d go…

                      Pears

        Sanderson Hyam. Beck

Dolan.   Forshaw.   Bucko.   Hedges

            Weimann.  Cantwell

                       Gueye

Subs - Toth, Litherland, Travis, OG Macken, ACD, Leonard

Bristol City 0 - 1 Rovers - a fighting win

That’s the line up that Jackson is predicting this morning.

These players to a man will give everything for the manager, fans and the shirt. We are lucky right now that we have a group who are united and pulling in the right direction.

It may not be enough to get a win today, it’s certainly not enough to gain promotion due to the paper thin squad, but giving everything on the pitch is all we can ask for.

Venkys out, nothing else matters.

I dont think Buckley was very good either to be honest. You really notice the difference between someone like Tronstad who gets it and plays it on efficiently and Buckley who lacks the intelligence and takes too many touches each time he gets the ball. I dont think hes capable of playing that deeper midfield role effectively as he also doesnt protect the defence.

I was surprised how many on here failed to see just what a clanger Toth had dropped. A terrible punch followed up by  terrible positioning that made it easy for their lad to score. If Pears had done it he’d have been crucified on here.

Especially the punch was very poor. For the followup he could have done better but I really think the defending from JRC was unacceptable.

Pears has generally been good this season, but I think his recent mistake for Oxford's (barely) offside goal was worse than Toth's mistake against Coventry.

So how did we dominate them then cos JRC was shite?

JRC was poor, and has been all season wherever he’s played. He was great in CM under JDT but injuries have done for him again.

JRC was great under JDT but at right back. A mixture of injuries and using him as a utility man really has caused him to regress since Tomasson left.

I dont think Buckley ran the game by any means on Tuesday either. I also think him and Travis wont balance well as the latter has benefitted from the balance he has nt to Tronstad and Buckley I dont think can provide that.

JRCs best performances have definitely been as an attacking right back. Gets completely lost in centre mid. Spoke to a Leeds fan last night who was talking about Forshaw and how good he was when Philips got injured for them. Interesting that Philips has also regressed so much, wonder if it was down to Bielsa and the way they played.

in forshaws case,it`s because he`s got nothing left in his legs and can`t keep up with play,a mindblowingly terrible signing, even if it was free

Give him some Bolivian Marching Powder half an hour before the game, add some Red Bull or similar, and a couple of double-espressos and watch him GOOOOOOOOOOO! Alternatively, just play him as a last gasp stop gap for a few minutes when other players with legs need a rest.

He’s always been poor at RB, it was CM he was developing into a good No8 under JDT.

I would have to disagree. He had that half season when we finished 7th after he got back into the team when he wss our best player, drifting into midfield granted but starting at right back. When he moved to midfield I thought he often gets lost in there.

I remember similarly. He played really well as an attacking right back, with freedom and confidence to charge forward and join attacks. He was brilliant. I was one of many who was pleading for him to be tried in central midfield as a better option to what we had there. Unfortunately, once he was, I don't remember him having a single good game. I now see him as bereft of confidence, stamina, or any impact on the games passing him by. Its sad because, briefly, he was outstanding. But quite a bit of time has passed since and he has hugely regressed.

JRC says himself that midfield is his best position. For a brief period in the autumn of 2023 he had some excellent matches in central midfield, made excellent runs into the box and scored a couple of winners iirc. It’s a shame how much injuries have affected him cos there’s a good Championship player in there. His problem at RB is that’s he’s a very poor defender.

Think I’ve posted before about this but I got chatting to someone who knew him and they described him as the ultimate confidence player. When he plays badly, he reads the negative reviews etc.

Hopefully if Brittain is out today he can show us what he can do at RB.
