ruggles1995
not sure why I'm doing it, but I've got a nice 8 hour round trip for this game Friday. Usually Il stay over, but cant for this one. I'm predicting a working hard performance but falling short to a 1 or 2-0 loss with any view of signings coming on the last day to sum it up of kids on loan from prem teams. Please can gueye recent performances just turn into goals from the lad. Do we ever win any derby games anymore against any of them?
roverandout
I could watch it on sky/virgin media but I don't think I'll even bother doing that

joey_big_nose
Watched the Bristol game back and while we created a decent amount of chances I'm not that convinced by the three at the back, seemed very vulnerable down the flanks - don't think Hyam and Sanderson have the mobility required in the wide CB role. I would probably go back to the 4231. Pears Brittain Batth Hyam Beck Travis Buckley Dolan Cantwell Weiman Gueye I am hoping a week out and a bit of self reflection and we will see a better version of Cantwell. We really need to win this one.
Dreams of 1995
We have to get a grip of them in midfield. The last two games we have lost that battle For Bristols 2nd goal their player ran completely unchallenged through the centre of the park. It’s been a while since Rovers conceded a goal like that I would be tempted to lose Cantwell and drop a third player in with Trav and Buckley to make sure we win it. Problem being, that 3rd player is Forshaw.. It isn’t a must win in the literal sense but failure to win here and morale hits a new low. PNE have a habit of beating us and they couldn’t have picked a better time for this fixture if they tried. Not confident at all

After about twenty minutes I thought our midfield was stronger than theirs and certainly in the second half we controlled that area. Buckley got caught in possession a couple of times in the early part but after that I thought he was fine. I really think a lot of minds were made up about Forshaw before he kicked a ball and at Oxford he was poor (as were the majority) but yesterday I thought he was good. He made some good challenges and kept the ball moving very rarely giving it away. As the discussion was about him and Cantwell I personally would prefer Forshaw in games where we will have to scrap, be aggressive and match their physicality. Cantwell fails in all three areas for me. I agree that we won the first part of the battle but going into the end of the half we started to lose that momentum Forshaw isn’t as bad as being made out but paired with Buckley isn’t the best partnership. Neither have that tenacious attitude - and comparisons to Trav and Tronstad are night and day But I do agree with you on Cantwell. For me, I’d put Buckley in that 10 and play Forshaw and Cantwell, with the idea that Buckley drops much deeper and helps Trav win that battle in the middle. Like it or not, we don’t have another Tronstad, and in true “moneyball” style if you have to bring in 2 players to replace what you lose in Tronstad then so be it Edited January 28 by Dreams of 1995
...
Need to fill the air with Jack Walker chants. Remind us all of the the good times sing your hearts out. His Name It Was Jack Walker, They Called Him The King Of The Land. On A Bright Sunny Day On The 14th Of May, He Stood There With The Cup In His Hands! Belt this out let the owners know who we are. Old Codger
Not going into this fixture with a defeatist attitude, despite the ongoing farce of the fuckwits doing their best to undermine our proud and professional club. Admittedly I know the square root of effall (technical term) about the Nob Enders and their season to date, other than that they sit below the Rovers in the table as things stand. Small margins separate success from despair in this league, and even with a ragbag of misfits Capn JE has been able to get a tune out of the players at his disposal, if you take the long view so far this season. Whether we can gird sufficient steel from the battling Blue and Whites on Friday remains to be seen. What I do know is that I am sick to the back teeth of near neighbours going away from Ewood with anything other than a sinking feeling and our collective feet marks on their arse. This coming Friday could be a good time to restore pride in this corner of East Lancashire, and send our poor relations back down the A59 singing sad songs of what might have been but never was. We are overdue a 'performance' from our battlers. Let it be on Friday night, to the chagrin of the lillywhite surrendermob. Head: Small Margins: Rovers 1 Nob Enders 0 Heart: Pride flows hot through the veins: Rovers 3 Circumcised Bretheren 0 Hell in a Hand Clart: Rovers 2 No Benders 3 Damn thee to hell, ye spawn of Skytan. RevidgeBlue
Don't know about anyone else but I'm struggling to raise any enthusiasm for this game seeing as the season has gone over the last 5 weeks or so and we did nothing to address it at the start of January.

Yeah feel exactly the same. Been a massive let down to have got so close to looking like playoff contenders and club would seize that opportunity. They didn't and with number of games gone and lost its as if season has ended.

Admittedly and begrudgingly me. Another local one, and one to normally get mildly excited about but with this January window kicking everyone in the knackers it's pretty hard to get up for it. Only bit of fun we can claw back from January perhaps is a win or a point a home.... A point at home against preston. How depressing....wonder if they've got any good pies on sale.... *hands in pockets looking to the sky walking away... Not confident at all We were always likely to be vulnerable to goals like that, once Tronstad got injured. We won’t keep any clean sheets, without him and given our trouble scoring, that spells big trouble.

I think its now becoming glaringly obvious just how key he was, effectively a 5th defender, calm as you like breaking up attacks. A unique calibre of player and there's nobody else even remotely like him at the club.

The manager and players worked miracles to get us to the position we were in at the start of January. RoversTilliDie
If we can get the series b striker deal over the line before Friday, I'd be a bit more confident for the lancashire Derby game. My heart says 4-0 to Blackburn Rovers, my head says it could be a tough 90 minutes.

Mattyblue
Luckily we aren’t moping about Brockhall, so us feeling a bit down on an obscure message board won’t particularly impact the players, I’d wager.
Popular Post arbitro
I don't get the 'kind get any enthusiasm' line for this match. We are playing our second biggest rivals at home and we have an opportunity to shut them up for a while. They have had the Indian sign over us for some time now and beating them would only be bettered by beating that lot for me. For a few hours on Friday I'll forget all about the off field nonsense and concentrate on the football.
RTM08
Under Venky's we rarely if ever turn up for derby games, and have won zero again this season even when in form including at home to Blackpool. With the injuries, no signings and a complete inability to put the ball in the back of the net I can't see anything but another defeat as we slide towards another battle to stay up. We had bugger all money, but because we were run by well meaning people who cared about the club, it was easy to stick with the club through thick and thin. This is very different, and a lot of supporters reach a tipping point where they think, “what’s the point?”. I’ve been going since the 70s, but this latest January window meltdown may well prove my tipping point when it comes to deciding whether to renew next Summer. I can see your point of view with the January transfer window, we get off to a flyer start of the season. Then along come the expected injuries, and no money in the transfer kitty due to the Venkys fiasco.
