Yep, the four best players on the pitch for an hour. Buckley’s passing was outrageously good at times.

Buckley has always had an eye for a pass - His vision on the turn is superb. Leave Trav to do the dirty work and those 2 will work...Huge concern if Buckley gets injured...JRC and Foreshaw are a horror show.

Pears beaten at his near post (again) stood there ready to make a save instead of going to the ball 🤦‍♂️

He actually moved to his right giving the lad more room at the post and again arms flailing nowhere near the ball.  I think Pears was doing well with competition up his arse but now he has seen how crap that is he can rekax again.  He really is shocking.  Thing is we have said that about several of our keepers over recent years.  Those same keepers are or have been making a living in the Prem now WTF?  It's the coaching I tell ya.

Delighted to beat that lot with their tinpot support particularly in the manner we did. We more than matched them for shithousery and that was an important factor in the win. We scrapped and fought for everything and the number of times they went crying to the referee delighted me. They are going to moan about the penalty they should have had but so what - in many respects that makes the win even sweeter for me.

In a match where there were many good performances I felt that Callum Brittain was once again the stand out player. His form recently has been exceptional. Makhtar Gueye was really good tonight too and I for one am prepared to eat a large slice of humble pie if he continues in this vein. Defensively we were generally solid apart from the latter end of the match when we sat a little too deep for my liking and invited them on.

The downside on the night was the substitutions both teams made. Ours actually weakened us and theirs made the stronger. The goal we conceded was sloppy as Beck should have done better and certainly Pears should have too. The final whistle was a huge relief to us all and in the big picture only one thing matters and that was getting the win. It's only three points but somehow it feels like a lot more right now.

Makes Gueye is getting better every game, and he's starting to score goals.

Christ Jim. Even Heckinbotham said that North End weren’t in the game for the first 75 minutes.

They weren.t but McCann, Greenwood and Riis all missed decent 2nd half chances and the penalty could easily have been given

We rode our luck but hard work saw us through

Everything a local derby should be imo. That last ten minutes was as tense as Boxing Day 77. Gueye had a better game than I ever saw Gallagher have, who also wouldn’t have scored that goal in a month of Sundays. Hilarious that Riis got disallowed the goal-bound header.

But, if we are going to contend, I think Eustace needs to make some big calls, starting with Pears. Toth got pelters, including from Eustace, for the one he let in but PNE’s tonight was 10x worse goalkeeping. Added to that ludicrous free-kick last week I think Pears’ nerve/confidence will be as shot as it was after the Wigan cup tie - he’s going to throw a lot more in if he stays in the team.

Secondly I think he should throw in the towel on Cantwell - the guy doesn’t win games and is a wet lettuce. Third, bet on the new guy over Dolan - two great assists in the last week but he must’ve given the ball away 40 times across the two games. I’ve never known a player make so many ludicrous decisions in possession.

I thought Dolan was wank...  Impact player..  If he wants out, he's welcome.

Travis, Buckley outstanding in the middle and the same goes for Brittain and Beck.

So happy for Gueye and it seems like he's becoming the striker we hoped for.

Dolan becoming the master of over doing everything. He worked hard and showed flashes but still continues to be so frustrating...Tonight just proved why we need a quick winger. He had 2/3 opportunities to drive into space in the second half...Everytime failed to do anything!

JRC was truly awful when he came on, lost every duel and nearly got an assist for them...We looked awful in those last 10. That thordarsen for them looks a player.

Say what you want about dolans decision making in general. Buts he's starting to create chances and got an assist tonight with some old school wing play.

Got a yard and whipped it into a good area and we've a striker who isn't afraid to put his head in.

He's done something kind of similar at least once in the last few games and it always leaves me thinking why doesn't he just do that more often? Hopefully the penny is starting to drop.

I can’t see it, it hasn’t dropped in 4 seasons of playing EFL Championship football.

he was busy, but as ever he makes the wrong decisions all the time,a better player would have laid on a few goals and put north end away by half time with the amount of ball dolan had

Mmmm, didn't see it that way.

We were on the backfoot most of the time and Preston created several good chances 2 of which they should have scored.

Our midfield virtually disappeared once Travis went off

Good win though. We deserve a break

I disagree, we could have made it 3 or 4-0 in the 2nd half, Dolan did some fantastic work on the edge of the box, if he'd have passed it, certain goal, but instead he screwed the ball wide from a difficult angle.

Gueye challenge at the end was never a penalty, the appeals stink of pathetic desperation, we fully deserved all three points tonight. Pears messed up but other than that was a 3-0 performance

I'd have to watch the highlights, but didn't he win the header?

It's as if someone's given Gueye a book on how to play football and said read that. He was already a handful, but more nuisance value.

He's now looking like a proper centre forward. It must be a nightmare for defenders knowing the ball is coming in and he's behind you,and what a peach of a ball it was from Dolan.

Given his time again, Eustace would have left Hedges on, that one substitution changed the game in Preston's favour.

Overall though, a good performance and a great win against a team in form which definitely fancied itself.

He's garbage. Works hard but his end product is diabolical.

Dunno... Travis has gone from a solid Championship performer to one of the very best midfielders in the division. Hyam and Pears also completely transformed.

Pears remains awful.

As for Hyam, he's always looked much better when he's the Junior partner. Even though me must be 27 now he still needs someone telling him what to do.

It's a perfect example of someone making their mind up before we've even kicked off.

Dolan did play well, he was all over the pitch and what a ball for the first goal.

I agree, he did some fantastic dribbling, and went round a few players on the edge of there box, and then screwed a shot wide from a difficult angle. There were players in and around the box, that would have had a simple tap in, if he'd have passed the ball.

Great win, I thought the performance was actually very similar to the Coventry game, the big difference is luck deserted us that night and was in our favour tonight.

Their defender goes off then his replacement is beat by Gueye for the goal then concedes a penalty, they needlessly stop themselves scoring by tapping it in on the line and the 2 penalty calls could have gone either way.

I thought ours was slightly fortunate but I didn’t think there was much in theirs either even if the Sky Sports team wanted there to be.

We were comfortably the better team till we became our own worst enemy towards the end I thought.

Pears - not much to do but one awful punch and had a shocker for the goal

Brittain - class act when he’s on form like tonight

Batth / Hyam - both solid and no nonsense

Beck - caught out for the goal and should have scored but still decent

Travis - makes us tick, grown into a great captain

Buckley - some nice passing but silly booking then lunged in after that, needs to stamp that out

Hedges - industrious but a weak link for me going forward

Weimann - quiet but put one on a plate for Beck

Dolan - mainly ridiculous, silly step overs and too much but sublime for the goal

Gueye - some cracking hold up play, his touch is deceivingly good, I think a pacer support would do him the world of good, delighted to see him score and smile, some great headers in our box but on another day may become a villain late on

Cantwell - delighted he scored but still too many arrogant touches at times

Sanderson - worryingly mistimed a header at a crucial time

JRC / Forshaw - didn’t really notice
