Delighted with a fantastic win, I feared the worst if I'm honest. Those last few mins in injury time were grim!

So good to get one over pne, especially when karma has got them after bite gate at dump dale.

JE has done it again, up to 5th. Come on back the manager ya wankers!!

I don't care how we won last night, I'm just glad we managed to beat a local rival for once - opposition fans will call that tinpot but it's been getting tiring of late. The fact they're crying about various decisions is just music to my ears. I thought Heckingbottom's post match interview was pretty fair and some of the fans should listen to their manager and rather than bemoan the ref, wonder why their team didn't turn up for 75mins.

I agree on the comments about Gueye and Hedges. If Gueye played for another side at Ewood we'd all be saying "I wish we had someone like that" - his touch in the middle of the park is very impressive, I just don't know why it goes to pot in front of goal. I think he's a vital part of the team, but someone needs to look at his shooting technique, is it just me or does he drag through the ball, almost catching the turf every time before he makes contact with it. Most notable against Cov, and that chance against Derby on the opening day.

Hedges is frustrating that he doesn't "convert" and create chances, but blimey he gets back goal side every time - very much a manager's player.

For the final few games these players just need to define their roles - Dolan as a tricky winger who only needs to make 2-3 perfect crosses a game, Hedges as a "spoiler" who we can use to nullify the more aggressive sides.

It is funny - just prior to our penalty we were discussing how 50-50 decisions were going against Rovers. Though seeing our penalty closer up after the game - it was a definite penalty - Hyam had headed the ball and the Preston player recklessly followed through with his challenge.

Their penalty shout - you definitely see them given, but not 100%.

Overall we were the better team on the night -  I do think Preston look a decent team - just on the night we were better.

Maybe but they had 3 clear cut chances and could have had a pen. Don’t get me wrong we deserved it overall but those last 15 minutes were agonising to watch and we might easily have lost

Anyway on to the next game and QPR away. Our group is going and we haven’t seen a win this season yet

FFS Jim, do us all a big favour and stay at home ! How do you expect Eustace to keep performing miracles if not backed by the Board and your Jonah group keep turning up 😂

It's probably the comment of somebody who's never played football. He's hard to leave out the team, at the moment.

I think that’s unfair, I don’t think anyone is questioning his impact at the moment. However you can think he’s effective but not technically very good at the same time.

I like Hedges for his effort but it is telling that his main contribution is nullifying the opposition, yet he is meant to be a wide attacker !

Some folk on here may have given Gueye ‘stick’… I.e. ‘I don’t think he’s very good’.

I imagine between the Dingle sending off and Christmas many at games thought the same, but you’d never know as they got right behind him - just like they did with Ben Brereton (for years).

Proper supporters here and don’t let anyone tell you different.

Also pleasant reading on nobbers message board about Gueye:

"People bang on about some targetmen not having great scoring rates, but what a difference someone like Gueye would make to our team. He was class. Wins everything aerially, good touch, can't take the ball off him, drops deep to search for the ball, and even has decent feet.
Only 3 goals but 6 assists, and obviously brings more indirectly.
Someone like him should be top of our summer shopping list."

We keep going on the basis our luck has to change some time. Won’t it?

This is hilarious - just shows context is everything - he didn't actually take a shot last night so people will have seen all the good sides to his game. He has been brilliant recently. I watched the Sky coverage last night afterwards and interesting hearing Sutton talking about his positioning.

Yes I agree but his legs are obviously gone after the injuries and he just can't get into the box, and has no shot - one last night and the one he toepoked into the keeper against Sunderland come to mind. He just needs to morph into a utility player.

You win and lose as a team and I choose to avoid criticising our players. Especially when they play for the shirt and give their all.

Players need time to bed in following a move and feel part of the new set up. I've high hopes for the lad for the rest of the season. He's getting better and better and at last being given some service.

We certainly need Gueye, Ohashi, Dolan, Hedges and Cantwell to go up a gear. The defence has been brilliant for the most and it's time the attackers gave them a breather.

I like this manager and these players a lot. Irrespective of their individual abilities.

His official name is Guere (who?) - that well known typing error

The lad has scored 3 goals in 27 games which is poor but his all round game is visibly improving - but then it needed to. He's aged 27, so he's hardly in the "promising" category. What we see now could be as good as he gets

Hard to call another a tin pot club when you last won something before World War One, or thereabouts.

A more bitter set of local Supporters you will not find.Should know their place in the order of things.

Great to shut them up.

I was one giving Gueye some stick on here but the lad is improving, had some lovely moves last night.

He's back for every corner and every free kick.

Two are marking him for every set piece.

He has had zero service.

Hes knackered after 60 minutes as he has very little support.

Hes been settling into a new league, new team, new location, new country.

All the attackers on our books have a similar record.

He plays in a system were defence has been the overriding priority.

If strikers are judged purely on goals you are of course correct. If you care to think it through its no suprise hes now improving.

Our penalty was clear as day.

I haven't seen their back. I will watched the full game back later this morning after I finish work.

If we got some luck then it's equal when they got theirs.

P.S. I've just watched that incident back, yes it could be given or not. Gueye gone for ball. Don't think it's clear cut has some might think. It's might just the slice of luck we need and those extra 3 point may be crucial in getting a playoff place. Just like Wharton o.g at Deepdale cost us

In the last 2 victories, we had been very fortunate with refereeing decisions in our favour.

Ill take it any day, but Preston can feel aggrieved.

The calls for Cozier-Duberry to start have all but disappeared. He just isn't capable of delivering a performance with the intensity Dolan gave last night.

It's no wonder clubs send their young players away to "grow up". He's looked a bit lost of late, hopefully the first half of the season stands him in good stead and he can help the team during the run in.

To be fair he did against Luton.

Dolan might have had "intensity" but it was a typical performance from him. He did put in one good cross which led to a goal to be fair but otherwise he halted a number of attacks either through a lack of end product, a poor decision made or by over elaborating.

Gueyreyr, or whatever we’re calling him these days, obviously had a huge slump in confidence after the Dingle gave at t’Turf. He’s now starting to find his feet, or rather chest and head.

He looks the type who needs runners off him. Weimann, Hedges and Dolan were all quite wasteful in possession last night so all Gueyerrsys good work came to nothing really. He’s certainly not a fox in the box and Sutton made come good observations  on how poor his runs were to get into scoring positions.

If we get good players around him in the 3 other attacking positions he’ll prove to be a real nightmare for the opppsition defenders.

He’s also really good at taking the pressure off when we’re under pressure. We noticeably spend less time passing it around at the back now when we’re being pressed high. Pears just boots it to Big Mak. And in fairness to Pears his kicking is pretty good when he has time.

I still don’t think Geuyeryeyry will  ever score another goal with his feet though🤔

No. The Law (12, Fouls and Misconduct) would only apply if the player had been judged by the referee to have deliberately endangered the safety of another player. In this case, their player (Watmough) did endanger Hyam, but he had his back tto him when he jumped, and also jumped into his own player first. It was dangerous play, but IMO not deliberate - most referees would not have the cojones to give an indirect free kick inside the penalty area.

At the other end, I agree we were somewhat fortunate not to be penalised for Gueye's challenge for the ball with Potts (or whoever) and the suspicion of handball - but again the mitigating factor was that Potts (or whoever) was behind him and to me appeared to shove Gueye too, so a 50-50 ball.  In some games the ref might have taken a different view, but I personally think he called that one right.

So for me, the Nobbers might feel let down by the ref for our penalty, but they had no claim of their own. And in any case, what an injustice that would have been after having brought so little to the game and deserving nothing. Besides, I completely despise their skank manager, who is more weasly than Ron, and more rattty than Roland - a despicable charactter whose sides play sunday league football at best.

We won. They lost. Let's move on.

It doesn't have to be deliberate. The word 'intent' was taken out of the laws several years ago.

It's a clear penalty as was theirs.

Edit: The Nobbers manager described it as a clash of heads. It was anything but that it was so late.

You said the same about Szmodics who was the same age, called him a waste of money and we know how that turned out.

I'm not saying Guere (Who?) is in Szmodics league, but the lad is improving.

One thing we can agree on, is we both want him to do well and score loads of goals for Blackburn Rovers.
