I like to see some variation on our set plays. I'm not sure what exactly is supposed to constitute being 'woke'. From what I can gather, it's basically a term used to describe anything that doesn't conform to some archaic, brain-dead view of the world that's quite rightly been extinguished. 5 Quote

I like to see some variation on our set plays. Anything that takes the defenders out of their comfort zone and affects their concentration is helpful. No defender wants to be stood there for a corner. Older fans will remember the Brotherstone corners to the near post, Faz flicking it on and Garner nodding in at the back post. Very hard to defend against, normally resulting in another corner, the ball headed back to the corner taker, or a flick on into the danger area. 4 Quote
Mattyblue Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Calling it ‘woke’ was a bit of a piss take meme from what I read of it, you see it a lot online for stuff that comes out of left field stuff tactically, which obviously would be the case in this instance, it’s a Championship game corner kick, not, you know, the LGBT views of some pie in the sky potential signing, or something. 5 Quote

There was a group in the JW Upper who started the same chant and also a song about Siggurdson. I have no idea guys but I know they improved the atmosphere and I hope they keep coming to some games Quote
Mattyblue Posted February 2 Posted February 2 The deleted poster did have a point on moderation though. One view gets to stay as presumably it is deemed the unquestionable truth whereas his is deleted forthwith (his should have been deleted by the way, but why isn’t all political stuff removed from this part of the forum? It’s why I purposely don’t read/ask for permission to see the political board). Quote

It will take a while to hide all of the other posts, which I’ll be doing shortly, but it will take a lot longer, hence it not being done yet. Quote

I'm not saying Guere (Who?) is in Szmodics league, but the lad is improving. One thing we can agree on, is we both want him to do well and score loads of goals for Blackburn Rovers. Szmodics didn't look anything special in his first season with us, as many noted You of course spotted a 30-goal a season player from his arrival. Well done. All hail and praise. 1 Quote

A pretty run of the mill attacking midfield player but then he couldn’t stop scoring once he got moved nearer to the goals. Edited February 2 by Tyrone Shoelaces Quote

Popular Post Riverside under the drip Posted February 2 Popular Post Posted February 2 (edited) Not been on here since as I was out most of yesterday and it was a late one back getting kids home. Our Ewood Express kids had the time of their lives and were chanting "We Won!" the entire bus ride back. It was a timely reminder that our pre-occupation as adults with the misery of what was and what might be never gets into a 7 year-old's head. They joined in with the thunder claps even though they got words wrong for most of the chants; they jumped up and down; they panicked whenever PNE got in our half and they generally enjoyed their night out. What I noticed was that our trip was open to Y3-6 but mostly got taken up by the Y3s and 4s (half and half girls and boys). The older lads have already been lost to the 'big clubs'. Obviously some of them just enjoyed the experience and ate their snacks with their friends but some were really into it from start to finish. I know one lad said his family got tickets to the Wolves game. It really is beginning to work... Edited February 2 by Riverside under the drip 25 Quote
Mattyblue Posted February 2 Posted February 2 I suppose the question is will family/peer pressure still turn those younger ones into glory club fans? As within the Asian community it’s now been 2/3 generations of defaulting to those two clubs in red. It’s great work (including the likes of yourself who chaperone), but it is vitally important for the future of the fanbase that we get hold of (enough) of the youth of Blackburn before their heads are turned. Plastics Posted February 2 Posted February 2 The corner variation which had us running from deep and wide was far more effective than everyone just standing in the box. You're far less likely to get dragged into the grappling if you're moving towards goal rather than camped around the keeper. Means the only people likely to be grabbing and pulling are the defenders and also has the potential to open up more space to attack the ball in. Wouldn't surprise me if you were more likely to score from an open play cross than a corner (given the corner success rates) so why not try to replicate a free flowing counter attack? Something like with Beck (I think) nipping back to receive it short can't be replicated once people are on to it but it doesn't mean it has to be a one off, nor that other routines couldn't be utilised that start with that set up Quote

I think the trend seems to be that we're a novelty to be explored. The vast majority are not going to get their families to take them. Full stop. Many parents have even asked where they're going and who is playing when they drop them off! The goal is to get them to consider us as a form of weekend entertainment when they enter late teens. That does seem to be happening anecdotally (at least to me)... 2 Quote
