Eustace…GONE

Not especially important but interesting that JE’s release clause has seemingly been triggered on the first anniversary of his appointment. Perhaps it only became active after a year?

Perhaps, but he wouldn’t be the first manager that came on the premise there was either a buyout or a break clause in it. I remember Lambert having one that he could cancel at any moment. Think it’ll be a common theme with whoever we appoint.

New contracts will mean paying agent fees and more money pm once signed.

We do not have money for either. Not in the budget.

We are floating along aimlessly by ourselves due to the ED investigation preventing any money being sent. Once the air goes out the dinghy.... we sink.

It doesnt prevent any money being sent. They're not sending money over because they seemingly dont WANT to provide personal guarantees for any money sent.

Doesnt even involve them in any extra expenditure as long as they dont do anything else wrong.

But we'd have to sign replacements that come with signing on fees and agent fees.

We can get players on longer contracts and sell them.

Watching them walk out the door for nothing brings no benefits whatsoever.

Or get found to have done something wrong at the conclusion of this court case - which suggests they know they have.

Do you think record breaking defeats would make them care? It wouldn't bother them.

The only thing that would get to them is someone like Rohit Sharma going on tv during a Test match and calling out the Rao family for bringing the country into disrepute with their treatment of an English institution.

Obviously that's not going to happen.

Maybe it's more likely they're trying to eke out the last remaining drops of value from player sales before placing the Club up for sale or into administration.

We're likely to have to suffer for a while longer yet though.

A club being run in a professional manner would do the following:

- Realise Eustace has done a good job by offering him an improved contract meaning a better salary, larger buy-out clause and a role as manager instead of head coach.

- Give assurances regarding renewal of key players' contracts within the next 2-3 months (Hyam, Travis, Tronstad, Brittain etc.).

- Give assurances regarding transfer budget in the summer. Don't think 5 million pounds is too much to ask for given recent player sales.

A club being run in an unprofessional manner would do the following:

- Allow the manager to speak to a rival Championship club sitting second from bottom in the table when we are still fighting for a playoff-spot.

- Not apologizing for their slow/late activity in the latest transfer window, costing the team valuable points during January.

- Not replacing John Park with another head of recruitment ahead of said transfer window.

- Owners not adjusting their annual budget for the club irrespective of outcome on the pitch.

- Owners not taking any interest in the club whatsoever and continues to have limited knowledge about the team itself, who they are competing against and the kind of investment it takes to get out of the league.

When John Eustace leaves this week, I will be disappointed in him and lose respect for him, IF, he uses any excuse for his departure in connection with his family, previous connection and location in Derby, rather than the obvious real reasons surrounding his contract termination.

By all means under any contractual conditions impacting any press comments, state no comment, or avoid the question, or state you would rather not go into the details. Otherwise our unscrupulous senior management will spin the story that the reason for him wanting to take up the Derby position, is down to location and family. In my opinion he would be doing a disservice to the long suffering supporters of Rovers.

He should not be using the commute as a excuse for a job he accepted only twelve months previously.

They're currently providing the level of investment it takes to get out of the League all right.

Just not at the right end.

Youve never been able to grasp that thinking that the manager should have final decision doesnt mean that I have to then agree with every decision made should that happen.

Its irrelevant here anyway as he clearly didnt here. We didnt even sign an out and out striker, just loads of squad fillers on short term deals. Wasnt decent, it was crap enough to push the manager over the edge.

You still can't grasp that we don't have a manager but a head coach.

You say Eustace should make the final call but then disagree with his choice. Playing both sides again and again

Dont talk rubbish chaddy.

That's what the clause is there for. Rovers could have offered him a new contract but didn't. I said we should have done months ago. Did you agree?

Loving the naivety that he still might stay.

Ridiculous that he has taken training and it hasnt been sorted since full time yesterday.

He has taken training according to every media source.

You are very quick to assume that he will go but given he is still here and meeting Waggott and Suhail suggested nothing is lost yet

If I had to guess I'd suggest we have a mid-table L1 budget right now.

Which is why the mythical "lose £20m a year" comment doesn't sit right with me. We've done nothing but downsize and downgrade for about least 5 years yet that figure remains a constant.

Eustace will go today/tomorrow and I can guarantee that horrible specimen Waggot will play the “Being closer to home for his family” card. All the main issues will be ignored and we will appoint a below par manager who has some connection to a dodgy agent!

Whats John Williams up to these days?

The recently appointed club secretary (or Head of Football Administration), Brett Baker lives in Brighton and actually works from home I'm told. Very few of the Ewood based staff who he manages haven't actually seen him let alone met him.

That's staggering but not surprising as it's consistent with a club that is run by people who have no connection or affinity with the area whatsoever. Has he ever been to Ewood, or actually watched Rovers play? It's ridiculous. It goes without saying this is not how a football club that has strong ties to the local community should be run.  It's all such a mess

He's 85 and hasn't worked in football since 2018 so I suspect he's retired.

He also quickly walked away from Ewood when he got the measure of these owners.

JE intentionally kept saying the owners yesterday rather than Waggot / the board.

Waggot has absolutely no idea if Venues will release funds for contracts or signings.

His job is just to cover up the bullshit and save coin.

I noticed this. He's trying to cut out Pasha. JDT outed him just before leaving and now JE is playing his hand. The only way he'll stay is if he is given a direct audience with the owners. He knows the deal here. Unfortunately it won't happen. The only way it will, is if by some miracle that interview is seen by the Venkys and that initiate contact.

It's also further evidence that Waggott and Pasha are feathering their own nests. They control all information going in and out of India and it's a power they refuse to relinquish, since it has them both on a cushy number. They know the first thing JE will do is throw them under the bus.

That will be one of the conditions; that he doesn't mention the club or staff in a negative way. At the end of the day, Eustace has added positively to his CV after what he's done here, so he will be better for it and look forward. Wonder how man of our players he'll try and sign though...

I hope he stays, but whether he stays or goes the underlying problems are still here and until we see a massive change behind the scenes, everything else only matters in the short term because everything is... short term.

As I said yesterday, I think that comment was his last plea for the actual owners to speak to him - circumventing the two clowns at Ewood.

They won't so he'll be off to Derby.

Thats the problem supporters groups who have wanted to help in the past have faced.

If that was the case you wouldn't be letting Dolan go to Tribunal in the summer, you'd have sold him in January. Same with Brittain, Travis and Tronstad.

Not meaning to stir the pot more and possibly the wrong thread, has anyone else heard the same whispers that they’re contemplating not renewing the academy’s Category A status next year? Heard it about 3/4 weeks ago but don’t recall seeing much elsewhere

Yea I’ve heard this aswell. As of next season no Cat A
