Not quite as clear cut from the full comments in the LT but still inclined to think he is off. Assurances mean nothing at this club. 

 

John Eustace will sit down with Blackburn Rovers' board to discuss his future after an approach from Derby County.

 

The Rams want to make Eustace, a former player, their next manager after sacking Paul Warne. Despite Rovers sitting sixth and Derby 22nd, the early indications are that he could leave Ewood Park.

 

Eustace has family connections with the Midlands and has been left frustrated by Rovers' activity in the transfer market. He did not deny the interest from Derby and will sit down with Rovers to thrash out his future.

 

"I will have to see exactly what's happened and talk to the owners," Eustace told The Lancashire Telegraph.

Eustace admitted he will look for assurances about the direction of travel at Blackburn. He was asked about whether he'd want to speak to Derby and whether he felt supported in the January window.

 

"I came in with the team in a difficult moment, a lot of disconnect between the fans and the club," he said.

 

"I like to think I've helped with that and get it back. Most importantly, the players have with the fans. The efforts they put in since I've been here has been amazing, week in, week out.

 

"We asked for some quality additions to help the group in January and the club managed to sign two or three players. It's about a process, building properly and I'm sure we'll now sit down and speak about what's going to happen.

 

"It's about seeing this club get back to where they should be at the top of this league. The group have worked their socks off for the last year and you can see they're a very honest group of players. The fans are fantastic. Everyone wants it to be successful."
