Eustace…GONE

Recommended Posts

Woken up expecting that JE exit had been confirmed.

If he stays it will be very good news not only for keeping an excellent manager but his grievances will have been addressed.

Eustace's call whether he believes or trusts any assurances given.

I very much doubt if the powers that be could let it get to the state a League 1 destined club became more attractive are capable of reversing the rot.

I'm still confused Paul. Do you mean Szmodics?

Sorry mate. When JE sat down with Rovers it was days after the fiasco with Duncan Maguire. They talked through that transfer and the money which would now be allocated to the new manager in the summer.

It could be an interesting day.

Whichever way it goes, someone at the club needs to come out and explain how it has got to this, but I won’t hold my breath.

Interesting that Eustace has had the lowest win percentage of our managers in recent years (excluding Coyle). JDT's percentage is staggering considering how bad a run we were on towards the end of his reign.

I think the only reason we are still in with a playoff chance is because other teams keeping slipping up. With that win percentage, we shouldn’t be anywhere near top six. Other team’s poor performances have skewed the wider public perception of JEs ability.
if he stays, fine. If he goes, fine.

Who of any decent calibre is going to want to come here knowing what's gone on with the last two managers?

There'd be no shortage of applicants.

When Eustace leaves he's not going to rip into the owners is he? He'll say he wanted to be nearer to his family to keep up the nice guy persona

That includes last season as well. We’re in the playoffs on merit.

Tbf - i think there’s a lot of managers who would fancy us. You don’t get sacked, because there’s no internal expectation, other than not to get relegated. Mowbray and JDT’s  careers didn’t stall after us, both probably on more money now than they were at Rovers. Eustace has increased his stock and will be on more money too…

There’s lots of good managers who would fancy a crack at the job. Doesn’t make life any better for us as fans, mind.

If Rovers were ambitious & sensible at this point (and also assuming Eustace does leave).  It would make sense to offer a 6 month contract with a large promotion bonus to the likes of Dyche, Cooper, Allardyce or Warnock (man managers with a history of promotion out of this division based on the current strengths of the team.... being solid and hard to beat rather than free scoring)

The most stupid thing they could do is offer the job to Russell Martin, Rooney, Gerrard etc, which is what I expect to happen based on who we have in charge

There will be loads of applications. “ Shall I stay on the dole or shall I chance my arm at Blackburn Rovers ? “ It’s a no brainer.

I'm all for scepticism around those running the club atm, but the one area we have form in recent times is picking decent managers.

We can but hope, the other possibility is that they got lucky with the past 3 choices, Before that there was a carousel of clowns and chancers

We won't be going anywhere near Allardyce or Warnock i don't think. Dyche would be commanding too much in wages and will likely be holding out for another Prem job (not that I think he'll get one)

The way football has gone at top level I can’t see Dyche getting another Premier League job.

This crops up on here from time to time but if we are rational/factual for a moment we can discount it TBH.

1. Tax relief - it has been mentioned on here historically (by a former accountant) that there is no reciprocal tax arrangements between India & UK to allow UK losses to be written off against Indian profits. The tax write off angle therefore doesn’t work.

2. Offshoring debt - not sure what this means TBH. The UK companies are part of the consolidated group. When the group accounts are prepared, BRFC is included in those numbers. The vast majority of the debt incurred by UK companies is intra-group - it’s one company lending to another - how does the fact that the debt is owed by a subsidiary in the UK benefit them?

3. Venky’s bought a PL club - if they didn’t want a club in the PL - why not just buy someone like Wrexham or similar ?

4. Why would they not want the income that comes from being in the PL? It makes zero sense to suggest that they are so cunning they’ve worked out a mechanism that not having £150m coming in is better than actually having £150m coming in

5. Venky’s aren’t offshoring their money - they have bought assets in the UK. They slipped up by not accurately declaring the nature of some of those assets. The UK businesses don’t generate money, they absorb it. There aren’t great cash deposits in the accounts of the UK subsidiaries. The UK subsidiaries would be insolvent if cash wasn’t injected.

Sometimes we can go down rabbit holes looking for complicated explanations of something much more simple.

My take - they are so wealthy BRFC is a rounding error in the annual accounts & creates barely a ripple. They didn’t understand what they were getting into. They took lousy advice. Made some terrible executive (& managerial) appointments. Eventually they decided to introduce some rigour & they set a budget to be adhered to. They appointed trusted UK based staff to enact the budget. Enter SP & SW.

SP & SW are carrying out the wishes of the folks who pay their generous salaries - namely “stay within the budget…control costs…don’t come to us for money except if there is a danger of insolvency/administration…”

Venkys set the parameters…SP & SW carry out their instructions and act as a firewall.

Thst’s why changing CEO changes nothing. We need new owners with a new vision, a commitment, a passion for the club.

Really good post. Assuming all of that is spot on, though, what is their strategy here (ha!) and/or why not just sell/relinquish a loss-making arm that they seem to have no interest in, beyond staving off admin/liquidation?

On Twitter I’ve read a few calling for the like of Russel Martin or Steve cooper.
1. There isn’t a chance in hell we get a big profile manager, there’s a reason our managers keep leaving, it’s because there is no money!

2. We don’t want any type of manager like Russel Martin type, that style of football doesn’t suit the current crop we do have, we are not a passing out from our own goal and being one dimensional. We suit more of a manager that’s like a pulis\alladyce\dyche\warnock\ style, as in a manager that’s requires hard work all round the pitch off the ball, and in possession can mix it up.

i have seen people mention lee Carsley online and to me I think he will fall into the Russel Martin bracket, of one dimensional has to play pep football, won’t suit us. I don’t hold too much hope waggot will get it right and I don’t think we have the money to get anyone decent in. I also think it will be a lazy decision as in who’s in wagots phone book he gets on well with out of a job, that will do. That’s kind of where eustace fit the bill when he got the job.

in my opinion eustace is %10000 leaving this week at some stage, I also think he’s instigated this, derby don’t just pay half a million to a club in hope the manager will leave 6th spot to bottom 3 without knowing it’s a goer. I’d imagine waggot like the JDT situation has someone already lined up ready to go and come in swiftly.

i also think Venkys won’t even be involved, they probably say to waggot here’s your allowance for the season that’s all your getting crack on with it. So imagine there is no discussions to be had to negotiate between eustace and waggot.

That’s the question for which I have absolutely no answer…it makes no sense other than some kind of subjective wish to avoid reputational damage of being seen to walk away from a failure. 🤷‍♂️

Like you said in your previous post we're a rounding error that brings back memories of a snowball to the face when mentioned, so we will continue to be a rounding error in perpetuity

Simply cut to the chase and, IMO, it's clear our club is one huge pile of steaming horse manure.

Eustace is gone.

Made it clear what he wanted before the Jan. Window opened and just look what the feck he got.

Our next manager/coach will be a desperado - doubt anyone with quality and an ounce of nous will touch us now.

Think the degree to which we have been fecked as a club has been ratcheting up steadily and the abyss we have been staring into for years will soon be upon us.

You’ve been predicting our impending demise for approx 10 years now, probably even longer. At some stage you will probably be right. But, I don’t share your view on just duds wanting the Rovers job. We’re in the playoffs with less than a third of the season to go, and no-one from 5th down can string a decent run together. I bet there’s loads of managers who would fancy their chances at getting us in the playoffs… after that, and apologies for such a cliche, it is a complete lottery. Rob Edwards at Luton is quite comparable.

Rovers won’t be short of suitors, they never are. And I would imagine a 4-month contract and an easy get out in the summer could suit a few higher profile / usually pie in the sky applicants down to the ground.

Wouldn’t be shocked if we’re pleasantly surprised, like we were with Lambert, JDT and Eustace. The difficulties may come in May, when we’ve missed out on the playoffs, all the loans and stop gaps have cleared off, the short term manager has done a bunk and we’re lift with yet another enormous rebuild on a rudderless ship. Not to mention clubs will be alerted to the fact that our core players all have a year left on their contracts and start putting miserly bids in.

Does not matter how good he is, our last two were doing well, he will be hamstrung by the owners and shackled by upper management.
