Agreed, I'm afraid the majority in our ever decreasing attendances are of this mindset.

Makes sense in a way

Once people realise that those in charge don't give a monkeys, it becomes harder to drag yourself to see them every week.  So many of those who pay attention  lose interest and stop going, leaving smaller crowds made up of people who fall into one of 3 categories

Addicts who cant give it up

The willfully ignorant with their heads buried in the sand

Casuals

The ironic thing in this saga is that Kargbo and Dennis yesterday looked like they could make a real difference.

We've got players coming back to fitness, I wouldn't rule out a change of mind overnight. When all said and done, he'll be swapping a (possible) play off push for another definite relegation battle, for an extra hour in bed.

and much less shit employers

Really good post. Assuming all of that is spot on, though, what is their strategy here (ha!) and/or why not just sell/relinquish a loss-making arm that they seem to have no interest in, beyond staving off admin/liquidation?

I think it’s as simple as they want their money back.

The more puzzling (to put it mildly) part  is why they are doing nothing to achieve the one thing which might allow them to do so (promotion to PL).

I ain’t buying this family bullshit, if Barcelona came in for him he’d be off in a heartbeat. It’s venkys the reason he’s leaving.

True. It's all part of the 'divert responsibility for this calamity away from Rovers' that we see so many times. It makes some people feel better I suppose but this starts and ends with the Indians.

The problem is, when this is rolled out as the reason, plenty will believe it and once again, we will hear the old way cry from above. Get behind the lads, they need you more than ever now and out honourable owners will sign loads of cheques and everything is rosey.

As someone pointed out yesterday, his commuting time will be cut by about two hours a day (there and back)

No one gives up a chance of the PL for the risk of league one for that.

We are all under the false assumption Venkys have any clue whats going on, or indeed care. I met Mr Venky in Trinidad at a KKR CPL cricket game a couple of years ago and asked him directly his thoughts on Rovers - he didnt know what Rovers was.

We are a rounding number and a drop in the ocean in their business empire, nothing more.

As long as Waggott and Pasha keep the balance sheet looking good they wont get involved.

Waggott may haver some explaining to do when season ticket sales total 24 next year but the severance package for Eustace will offset that.

Exactly, if you can’t be away from your family the football game isn’t for you he may as well retire now, least he could do is ask for a new deal long term and relocate family if need be with assurances. But I don’t believe that is the reason anyway that’s just the easy way out without putting the owners in the spotlight.

It’ll be a good test of the theory that the Raos, Waggot, Suhail etc don’t want promotion on who they appoint as the next manager. If the theory is correct, they’ll appoint a Kean/Coyle type.

They'll go middle ground - they won't have the balls or the budget to go for a serious winning option that could get us over the line - I'm talking a Warnock, Allardyce, Dyche, Cooper - until the end of the season with a huge promotion bonus - they don't want it and won't pay what is needed even though if promotion was the focus that would be the market to aim for.

But they'll be conscious of fan anger and the spotlight coming back onto them and like they did with Eustace last year turn to someone with some pedigree to shut the moaners up for a few weeks whilst the new man gets settled in. This will need to be someone relatively cheap and keen to work in the Championship but with enough of a reputation to not cause trouble - so someone like Rob Edwards, Ryan Lowe, David Wagner.

That’s the question for which I have absolutely no answer…it makes no sense other than some kind of subjective wish to avoid reputational damage of being seen to walk away from a failure. 🤷‍♂️

But we are a recurring, never ending failure to them. Rather than continuous shame, why not cut the shame adrift.

Eustace has already mentioned family yesterday in his pre match which will be the main reason he leaving plus he will probably have more say than ever in transfers which he won't mentioned if he does leave

It's all depends who we go for if we replace him.

As for summer, it's all depends but it's clearly we need in the summer squad wise already

We see.

We seem to have plan in place according to Nicko's BlueSky posts. What they are, I dont know, but I'm interested in what they are.

If you genuinely believe that location/family is the main reason that he is leaving. Then why are you annoyed at the owners and board?

I’d be against a short term “ get us up “ style appointment. They rarely work out.

From memory (so I appreciate I may be wrong), most short term appointments that I recall tend happen with teams struggling to stay up, rather than a team on the edge of the play offs,

I think a short term appointment who is going to continue along the same lines of what Rovers already do well (keep it tight, nick a goal) would be a sensible option

From league positions alone, the PL equivalent would be Eddie Howe leaving Newcastle to take the Leicester job. I know there are huge factors that make that a poor comparison, but looking at the league tables, that’s what it is (6th v 3rd bottom) and to the outside world, questions will be asked, and honest answers will be demanded.

You can argue over who is the bigger club etc, but you cannot sensibly justify why you would leave a club you have got into the playoffs, to take over a club in the relegation zone, not without some sort of transparency.

Surely no one is going to ‘buy’ the closer to home reason, and as someone else mentioned, it’s a smokescreen, one you’ll have to be pretty gullible to swallow.

We’ll be the laughing stock for a few weeks, but what this will do is highlight to the football world how badly run this club is.

Difference with this & JDT was the latter went off to Sweden. JE is going to another English club in the same league. This one won’t get swept under the carpet so easily.

Hence Suhail needs to feel the heat , more so than Waggott.

Waggott is a lightning conductor.

I don’t think suhail will give a toss tbh, if we can tarnish venkys name again maybe they’ll be like wtf. Wip round and get it in the Indian papers.

My overall reaction to this chaos is just one of unbelievable anger. Feel like throwing my phone out of the window. If this happens it's absolutely humiliating for us.

Can anyone ever recall something like this happening in any division in English football? A manager leaving a team near the top of the league for a team at the bottom who have lost 8 out of 9 and look doomed?

How on earth do the 'leadership' at the club think they could possibly explain this to fans with a straight face and assume we'll think "oh fair enough then"? Penny for their insane thoughts right now.
