It's a very long game that comes with huge risk. It would also be something of a desperate move considering the fact that he is likely to be linked with most Championship jobs. He will have the opportunity to jump ship over the next 6-8 months for a better job.

I don't think - still after all that has gone on and the warning signs we have seen - some people fully appreciate what a shit show this football club is and how infinitely preferable other operations are to this.

Too many people look at it with Rovers tinted glasses, or look at it based on current league positions, or make assumptions that things 'aren't that bad' at Ewood or that our budget whilst small is still comparable to rival clubs like Derby.

It's time to 'get real'. 

Derby are skint, yet financially in a better place than we are, despite going bust only a couple of years ago and just getting out of league one. Despite the fact that we've raked in over £40 million in player sales in the last 4 transfer windows.

I would suggest that EVERY other Championship club beats us hands down when it comes to: ownership, board, communication, transparency, investment, planning, organisation, ambition, contracts, transfers, and many other departments.

Eustace has about 15 months remaining on his contract here. He won't be getting an extension even if he wants one. Just like all our players won't be getting new deals and will leave between now and summer 2026. This isn't because they are all greedy, unreasonable, it is because the owners and their stooges will not sanction new deals.

With that in mind Eustace has an impossible job on his hands. The ONLY reason to reject Derby interest and stay is on the very very slim chance he gets us into the top 6 and then through the play-offs to the PL because that would enhance his CV massively. Anything short of that - including a top 6 finish but losing in the play-offs - keeps him as a Championship manager having to work in terrible conditions and facing another summer of Venky nonsense. He doesn't want it, no manager wants it.

He will have enough confidence in his abilities to get Derby safe between now and May and then he's in a far better position - CV enhanced further, and then at a club with support and a plan to look to the future.

This club is finished under these owners, and it is time some people woke up to this.

There are only 24 Championship jobs, most of them include absolutely no hope of promotion. We have consistently flirted with the idea of making the playoffs.

Is our club a mess? Yes. Are our owners awful? Yes. Can you believe anything that you're told from senior leadership? No.

But, we still have a decent squad (I think generally better than it gets credit for on here most of the time), find ourselves in the top half of the Championship, and are doing well enough to be raising his profile and demand.

Any sensible person would see that it would be worth sticking out the last few months and reassessing your situation in the summer. JDT left because he knew we were done last season and because the Sweden job was one of the best he could have hoped to get post-Rovers. Eustace would be leaving with an outside chance of promotion and for a job that is, by any objective assessment, worse than where he currently finds himself.

It's only my view but Gestede seems to be poisonous and his objective is to become Chief Exec by hook or by crook. That is evidenced by the way he left as a player by effectively downing tools.

The club is a mess, that is indisputable.

Been reading the local Derby paper and it looks like a frying pan to the flaming furnace jump by Eustace.

Things must be in an absolutely horrendous state at Ewood today and far worse than is remotely on the public eye.

I mean, they will have to discuss compensation and Waggot / Suhail / Venkys have to agree to it. With our internal communication and politics we know this could drag on (like Rhodes leaving).

We also know the logic of "you can't keep an unhappy manager" doesn't apply as they kept JDT for 7 months after he wanted to quit.

I'd be a bit sceptical of Eustace going into Derby and trying to utilise last seasons negative, defend at all costs tactics. Ultimately it was only Szmodics hitting unlikely winners at Leeds and Leicester that kept us up.

I agree whole heartedly, about Gestede. I think he is another rat joining the sinking ship.

It would be an insane career decision.

Getting promoted to the Premier League would be rocket fuel for his career. A guarantee of being linked with every top 6 Championship job in the future and the possibility of establishing himself as a Premier League manager.

Relegation with Derby would be a major setback to his career and he would at best be hoping for a midtable Championship job to bounce back.

Now, things might change if Derby take a bit of time to make their decision and we lose 2/3 more on the bounce and he feels like the playoffs are gone. 

Warne left Rotherham to go to Derby when he'd just got them promoted.  And Derby were in league 1. So he must have been made promises so I expect Eustace will have to

In his BBC interview, JE had multiple opportunities to answer on behalf of the club and on every occasion he puts distance between him and the club.

No way should any CEO allow such. a situation to occur (AGAIN).
