• 'So when Derby arrived one insider said 'There is a lot of relief around here' - implying that there is an unhappy camp and his departure will be welcomed at Brockhall.
• 'Steve Waggott picked Eustace in a hurry last time and was one of his big allies in the end' - so a double dose of Waggott gets the credit for appointing Eustace to begin with and quick to ensure no suggestion he was in any way behind his departure

You can bet your sphincter that the 'one insider' who said 'There is a lot of relief around here' was Steve Waggott, who is probably Nixon's source for all of this, and the relief is that he, Rudy and Pasha won't have to deal with awkward questions like 'why are we letting all our players run down their contracts' and 'why have we spent fuck all out of 40 million in fees and most of the signings are loans?' anymore. The 'one of his big allies in the end' comment of course is likely bollocks, and there to exonerate and deflect from Swag's complicity in events and this article.

What's in it for him...he may have been directly paid for his help, doubt he charges much for that, or he may have just been promised lots of access for his gossip stories going forward, so long as he mostly tows the club line.

I think contract length may be key. If Derby give him 3 years plus this season on similar money then it is easier to understand considering the problems facing Rovers after the summer. Next season could kill JEs career and with no contract extension he would be vulnerable.

A real interesting situation as our next appointment (or lack thereof) will show if the club genuinely doesn’t want to make the playoffs…

I expect most managers just give general instructions to their agents and they do the work, giving the manager plausible deniability if it doesn't go through. With the speed this is moving there is no way he wasn't waiting for the call.

Most of us already knew it, but tonight shows what a snide bastard Nixon is.

For years now, including during the last 3 shambolic windows, he has been responding to fan criticism of the owners with patronising bollocks like "relax, they've got the money" or "they've got the money but...". Always eager to defend this lot. Always eager to big up the hierarchy.

After the January window closes, he puts out a smug piece talking about the "much maligned club" doing the business late on. It read like a go at the fans. In the same piece he made Waggott out to be a hero for getting Dennis in on a reduced wage.

This evening though, he has taken it to a whole new level. It's clear whose side he is on.

This is the same guy that once called Kean a "wee gem", let's not forget.

We're all stupid though. What have JDT or Eustace done to be described as "wee gems". The club is better off without the pair of them. Aye.

Cooper's Championship win percentage will be much higher, the PL campaign will skew it a bit. In addition, has a 45% win rate at Swansea before that. Very, very good manager at this level.
