Popular Post ageoftherover
I think being embarassed/disgusted by our ownership (small o) and management, while simultaneously being disappointed in Eustace for the timing in which this has happened is pretty natural. Whatever you want to say about the club and its brass, the players don't deserve this given the way they've performed against the odds this year. Yes, the club wouldn't have shown loyalty to JE, hes been let down, this is a business etc etc, but it wouldnt feel like that to the players, it would feel like they're being abandoned on the battlefield by their general. Travis' alleged reaction speaks volumes and while we can't know what's really happened (not yet anyway), I'd be disappointed if the playing group weren't fired up in a whole bunch of directions. The only hope I have in this mess is that it galvanises them instead of deflates them, and somehow they pull off what would be a miracle promotion that triggers a sell off by the scum in India. Statues for the lot of them if they pull it off.

Anybody defending these people has nothing where their heart should be. Their hearts have gone. These rotten owners and their yes men have ruined and wasted the last 15 years of our lives when it comes to Rovers. That's the truth of the matter. Before anybody tries it...I know nobody has a right or entitlement to see their club win all the time or to be in the top flight. That's not what I'm saying. What we are entitled to expect is for the owners to treat our club with the respect it deserves, to recognise what they own and to at least TRY to be successful. These scumbags couldn't care less and are driving away manager after manager and in the process, fan after fan. They are ruining this for all of us and it is particularly bad for the little 'uns like your son and many others who know nothing but this manufactured mess. At least us older fans saw the real Rovers before these bastards hijacked it. I feel for the younger fans who have never seen what real football and ambition looks like. I just hope that somebody is about to happen to crush this lot and we can get back to being normal fans again. That feeling is very much missed. This lot will pay for what we have been through, no doubt. That's not a threat, but they will feel it down the line. ❤️ Great post. I'm just thankful for my memories. I really want to fuck it off altogether, but I don't think I can. but I wish I could ;-'(

The rot is far deeper set than any appointment, there’s only one cure now and it needs to be treated at source. First Waggott and Pasha and then the overlords in India need ousting, there’s no other long term recovery here Please explain in more detail how you get rid of the owners? Fantastic post mate, I was born in 97 and unfortunately missed the 95 title, however still had some magical moments growing up watching the UEFA Cup at Ewood and two FA Cup semi-finals at the Millennium & Old Trafford. I hope those days return and the anger I feel towards Venky’s today, it really does hurt. Let’s hope this is the start of the end of Venky’s.

Exiled_Rover
48 minutes ago, JBiz said: Just to add my thoughts; I agree with the most part of those angry at the owners (they’re ultimately responsible for the club) but I’d just like to add that John Eustace shouldn’t be coming out of this smelling like roses. For all the togetherness and family quotes, he’s basically engineered this mid season. Can’t blame the man professionally but it’s hard to accept, as a member of that “family”, moving to a rival, and basically begging for it on live tv. Professionally I understand, it’s a short career to some extent and I’d prefer the new commute. Personally I feel like he’s used us and dropped us at a moments notice. Theres an obvious “groundhog day” feeling that we can’t ignore, but I’d rather any rovers manager had the personal values not to engineer this sort of decision mid season. He gave them every opportunity to provide him with assurances - they refused to. It's painfully obvious he didn't want to go to Derby. JBiz
22 minutes ago, Forever Blue said: I suppose it depends on what he was promised, and what promises by the club were reneged on. It’s easy to criticise Eustace, but we don’t know the full story. Each side has put forward their own narrative in the last 24 hours. I don’t believe the clubs narrative for one minute. Eustace isn’t a Rovers fan, he’s a paid professional trying to carve a career for himself. If he doesn’t feel supported at Rovers and another club comes in offering that support then it’s understandable he wants to move on. He owes Rovers nothing. Togetherness can only take you so far if the Owners and Board don’t play their part. The black and white of it is Eustace is moving to a club he probably prefers to work for, closer to his own pit, with a carte blanche expectation level and likely a long term contract to boot. Thats the engineering of someone who understands the game from the point of view as an employee. The unfortunate part that this ignores, he also was a custodian of a “public” establishment and if you’re preaching togetherness and family, you’ll look a cock if you can’t even see your own contract out. 27 minutes ago, 47er said: If you're looking at the timing----surely its the transfer window that's the last straw.? Spending zilch while raking in money from transfer fees. He won't be the last manager/coach to lose it with this crowd, unless we appoint Steve Keane again. It’s not a coincidence we’re looking for a manager exactly 12 months on (after the transfer window). Anyone with any inkling of knowledge of football, specifically rovers, knows what’s holding us back and it’s not Mowbray, JDT or Eustace. All those three have their flaws, but I still think the position were currently in (insane after our recent form!) will attract a better level of appointment than previously.

Ferrit
They just did a segment on SSN about Eustace, apparently he met with Maggott and the other clowns and sought reassurances about the clubs ambition. He got none unsurprisingly and thus wants out. We are a joke of a club. Edited February 10 by Ferrit

I'm sure he's had feelers out for a while - he was simply not backed in January and he can see the writing on the wall in the summer. I'm sure any manager would do the same after working under Steve and Suhail for any period of time. Even today, he told them what it'd take to retain his services - absolute basic necessities and they've released that bitter, pathetic hit piece of a club statement in response. I would love a transcript from that meeting, I bet it was scathing. You can see what's coming. Go and read some of Nixon's tweets (their chief propogandist) - he talks about how we're still top 6 and it's a huge 15 games coming up etc in response to people questioning the long term future of the club. The fact of the matter is there isn't a long term future for this club - contracts are being run down, 5 of the 6 January transfers have been brought in on a 6 month contract and multiple players are out of contract in the summer. Eustace has lived this day to day. He's not asked for the world and they will not (or more likely cannot) provide him with anything so he's done the honest thing and left with his head held high and his reputation intact. TLDR: he's left for a smaller, poorer club in a desperate relegation dogfight - that tells you everything you need to know.
