We've not been great, but we've not been awful. The argument is that more money should have been made available, but his desire to be heavily involved in the transfers themselves is questionable. Aren't release clauses just standard practice? It seems like a difficult one to exclude from a coaches contract. Regarding the second point, it will always be speculative as we don't know whether he approached that conversation in good faith, if he was simply making himself look better, or whether it was a shot to nothing. On several occasions in my career I have made my employer aware of the fact that I intended to move on and I have spoken to them about 'things that would make me stay'. Those demands have rarely been reasonable as I've only ever made it to that stage once my mind was firmly made up and I knew there was little to do to keep me. So, that isn't a criticism of Eustace, but I also don't believe that he entered into that Monday conversation with any intention of staying - and the club likely will have known that. TommyRovers
Eustace said he wanted talks with Waggott and Pasha about a contract and reassurances. In my belief, he had no intention of staying after Derby contacted him. It was a face saving tactic.

I'm the opposite - he had every intention of staying and was using the Derby offer as a trump card. He also had no interest in talking to Waggott and Pasha - he wanted to talk to the owners. I'm sure he knew when he walked into the Board Room and saw those two cunts sat there he knew his time was up.

Won’t change the shit show that we have here. I was one of Eustace's biggest fans on here and I'll definitely gloat. We may pass each other like ships in the night at the end of next season, but I think it's going to take him to the last 18 months of his new contract at Derby for him to manage a Championship club again. I'm petty. It's not a flaw, it's a feature.

At least Eustace had the decency not to down tools and throw his toys out of the pram before he left.
LeftWinger
Well his first game resulted in Derby's heaviest defeat in almost 3 years. Long may it continue.
onlyonejackwalker
6 hours ago, Mattyblue said: Yes we get it, all this is purely down to The Snake wanting a few extra grand. But there’s nothing else underlying in your view to two managers walking (and repeatedly trying to orchestrate a move a long time before) in 12 months? A few extra grand? X 52 = red panty night. Underlying? Or just lying? It's certainly not for footballing reasons at Derby. Plymouth, PNE and Hull are hardly a hop, skip and jump from the midlands are they? So it's not closer to family. We have been top six all year, so it's obviously not a toxic workplace. Contracts for players? More funding? Possibly. Every manager wants as much spent on players as possible and its hardly suprising the top four are amongst the wealthiest in our division. Longer contract. More pesos. Most certaiinly. Everyone on this board would immediately.switch jobs for an extea few grand a week. So i dont blane him.in the slightest. But dont spam me with family and unity whilst applying to six other employers please. 6 hours ago, Forever Blue said: He asked for a new contract and assurances on funding. They refused both. So he left. If you are refused a new contract after taking the team from the bottom 6 to the top 6 in less than a year then you know you aren’t wanted. This is the part that is being conveniently ignored. If you do the job you are paid to do at work does that give you the right to demand a new improved contract whenever it suits you? Mattyblue
Still not reading anything in that post that points to any structural issues at Blackburn Rovers, just the age old employee wants away for more cash and a longer contract. I’m all for balance with this situation, yet can’t see any with OOJW…

The only thing I'd say is that given the statements that the club did put out I can't see a situation where it wasn't true, was reported in the LT, and the club didn't put out a massively unprofessional statement to deny it. They are being oddly restrained considering the messaging that has been coming out of the club. Of course we'll probably never know for sure one way or the other. onlyonejackwalker
8 hours ago, islander200 said: Well then he wouldn't have signed a new contract if offered then would he? I agree we have clowns running the club but surely if Eustace felt the same then he wouldn't have wanted to tie himself to such Clowns for a longer term than his current contract?Or would he have been OK working for them with an extra few quid in his pocket? Eustace couldn't possibly work for such terrible owners so applied for the Plymouth, Hull, PNE, Coventry, West Brom, Derby and Hong Kong under 17's in sheer desperation to leave. And be closer to home. But then the minute he was offered a new job he went back to the useless, terrible dysfunctional owners to try and negotiate a new contract, on improved terms. Happy to stay with more coin. Offski otherwise. Nothing to do with owners. 7 hours ago, islander200 said: I blamed him for leaving when he didn't? I think he could have stayed until the end of the season. He would have had better job offers and I think he let the players and the fans down. What he said after the wolves game about speaking with the owners, hoping for a new contract...I think that was waffle he had already agreed to go to derby. Of course he had. We all knew he was off, before he supposedly did. 6 hours ago, Eddie said: This is the bit that I don't really understand. I don't want to speak on behalf of 'onlyonejackwalker' and we probably don't agree on everything, but I'm growing tired of some of the reaction that the Eustace criticism gets. It is possible to be critical of Eustace AND of our owners AND of Waggott. It is possible to think that Eustace behaved poorly whilst also acknowledging that it is a smaller issue compared to bigger problems that we face. But it is still possible to be annoyed and disappointed by all of that. To be honest, I have too much pride in this club to allow the owners and Waggott to lower my standards so much that I will find Eustace's behaviour acceptable. We deserve better on all fronts, but this included on managerial behaviour. Many of you treat this as if it is binary. It simply isn't. Yes its about standards. We all bought into his togertherness mantra, well everyone apart from him that is. He was busy managing his bulk sms to anyone who would listen. Whilst preaching unity. He's been a total prick and I don't believe a word he says. 6 hours ago, Mattyblue said: What don’t you understand? I said is it ‘purely’ down to JE being a greedy snake. I.e. of course it isn’t, there’s nuance to what happened. Matty. Instead of asking me to detail the nuance, why don't you? I think it would take a much improved monetary offer to piss away the chance to take Rovers to the play offs and gamble on keeping Derby up. If he had got us into the play offs, the parachute clubs coming down, the likes of Luton if they stay up, plus lower placed PL clubs would have all had a look at him. His stock would never have been higher. If he takes Derby down he loses all that momentum and should a slow start befall him in League One they will sack him. You must realise how stupid that sounds. We could lose every game till the end of the season and finish 15th. Why is he deserving of a new contract at the start of February? Eustace wasn't paid to do a bad job. He was paid to do a good job. What are you not understanding? ----------- Anyway......What a brilliant response from the players to the chosen one leaving. Fucking dynamite. We look totally invigorated and full of confidence. Maybe folk were not as enamoured as we are led to believe. Or a change is as good as a rest.
