Blackburn Rovers have put Gary O'Neil and a handful of foreign coaches on their list for their promotion bid - and beyond.

Rovers have been planning for unhappy John Eustace moving on for some time and are putting names together, with many based in Europe.

The Championship club have drawn up a list of an initial potential candidates and all of them are outside the UK bar O'Neil.

Former Southampton and Wolves boss O'Neil has impressed if he fancies a drop to the
Championship.

Spaniard Aitor Karanka has his admirers and has previous experience at the level if he can be tempted back to England.

Former Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carlavhal also has his admirers although he is in a job at Braga which makes him a long shot.

Swiss coach Raphael Wicky is another possible as is know to backroom man Adam Owen. He recently came close to West Brom.

One other foreign coach is in the frame but may be part of a team rather than the first choice selection.

George Boateng has strong links with Rovers and worked as a youth coach with them for a spell.

He is available after leaving Coventry City and could be part of a new management team.

Rovers could yet expand that list but they are under pressure to appoint soon to stay in the playoff race.

It is a massive test for their 'management team' who have come together this season

Roll that Dice, deal that Card...here we go again.

Depressing.

How has his exit not been confirmed yet? Fed up with this shit.

His exit not being announced is less perplexing than the complete absence of information on who is taking tonight's game!

Absolute circus 🎪

Is this a game of chicken? Rovers insisting Eustace "does his job whilst contracted" probably in order to screw some money out of him for "breaching his contract". Eustace not giving in to this tactic and saying "fuck it - sure i'll be head coach tonight as well"...
Looking forward to the presser...🤣

It is absolutely crazy that with just over 4 hours to kick off they havent bothered to say who is taking the match.

For all that you wont have any blame attached to Waggott and Pasha on the basis they're only doing what they are told it wont  be the owners who have so little respect for the fans they havent even bothered to tell us who is taking the team tonight.

The only people who need to know are the players. They will know.
It’s Johnson & Lowe isn’t it? 🤔

Couldnt you say that about every element of the club? The only people that need to know are internal. There surely is a duty to communicate such matters.

We have fans travelling down without officially knowing who is in charge.

For some reason, even though I regularly call them both things like snakes, lapdogs, cretins etc, you seem to think I am Waggott in particulars biggest fan.

The main issues in this situation again fall on the owners. Lack of investment predominantly. But obviously stuff like this while immaterial in the grand scheme of things considering what has gone on falls on those 2 dickheads.

Be the bus driver at this rate.

If Eustace's two assistants havent got get out clauses like their boss then that might be what is holding things up if we're being awkward about the terms of their departure.

If they want to go with Eustace however, surely even we couldnt be contemplating putting them in charge tonight?

So as it stands:

Eustace is still technically our manager but presumably wont be there tonight.

We dont know if his assistants are leaving or if they'll play any active role in taking the team tonight

And

With four hours to kick off the Club haven't even announced who will be taking the team.

Way to go Rovers.

And some people are blaming Eustace (who the Club allowed to have a get out clause) for the situation!

I can’t believe they didn’t select a caretaker already!!

How can we have anyone lead the team who isn’t going to be here in 24 hours time?

They have (surely), but the assumption is that they've simply not announced it.

I'm guessing, but I reckon:

Derby have paid the Eustace fee.

The assistants don't have the same terms, we're playing hard ball on them.

The ones that are staying - Johnson, Benson, Lowe, will have been told immediately after Eustace said he was going that they would lead the team.

We're aiming to have a new manager by Swansea.

Exactly this!

Well done, you manage to inject humour into the direst of situations.

And unfortunately it's needed on a regular basis with these pillocks running the Club.

Wonder why Eustace doesnt want to take Benson and Lowe with him having seen what they can do first hand?

surely the Rovers supporters deserved to know and that should have been in the statement released on Monday evening?

What about the supporters travelling down to the Hawthorns tonight not deserve to know?

Do you not agree that the communicate from Rovers owners and club top management is piss poor and getting beyond the joke? surely if so, its it one of the key part of the club proper communication with your fan base and supporters whilst STH, match day fans, or live in Devon or Scotland, surely we all deserve to be told 2 days ago who would be in charge?

of course its pathetic from the club and  said yesterday the supporters deserved better communication from the club. Lets be honest, The Eustace Derby situation should have been sorted at the latest Sunday evening. Surely one of Rovers club management  or someone at Rovers media department saw the links/reports from Reporters linking Eustace with Derby? Surely, you have a conversation with him on Saturday night/Sunday morning  to discuss those reports. Surely that is logical approach?
