As others have said, Derby will have already been in touch with Eustace and his agent. There is very little chance they would have made an official approach if they hadn't had encouragement that he would take the job.

But, no. We will get a manager in who knows exactly what the problems are, but who will know this is one of the best 30 jobs in English football and one of the best 100 jobs in European football and will jump at the chance to get back into football, or raise their profile, or believe that they've seen enough from what Eustace and JDT to think that they have a chance of getting things right for 12 months and getting us promoted. 

The money won't hurt.

Some names that popped out were:

Valerian Ismael 

Rob Edwards

David Wagner

 

I even saw Billy Davies on the list and wouldn't put it past this lot.

I'm sure he was told lies, but that still doesn't mean he's not an idiot for believing them.

If the owners had only been around for a year or two and been able to say that the JDT fiasco was an outlier, then I could understand believing the promises. But he had 10+ years of evidence and probably a fair amount of inside-football information to let him know exactly how this club is run.

We all know from the Andy Cole story that Waggott that he's been a known quantity for 30 years. It would take 5 phone calls to get a good sense of what this club is about. Wouldn't you do that? When I take on new jobs I do a bit of my own due diligence and that is a lot harder than it would be to get information about a football club that has 30 first-team players a season, multiple former coaches, former senior staff, etc. 

70% of the players we sign talk about reaching out to a former Rover and asking them if it is a good place to play. You don't think Eustace didn't do the same? Couldn't have got a quick call with JDT or his agent to get a sense of exactly what happened? Spoken to Coyle? Lambert? Bowyer? Mowbray? It's a long list.

I think he knew exactly what he was getting himself into.

Absolutely, outside the stadium. Support the lads inside, then after the final whistle 👍 those who refuse to go to the games should be outside making a noise. 14 years and counting, yet another demoralising day for the fans/circus.

I agree that Rooney or Gerrard would be too high profile for this lot, plus even they would get fed up with Venky nonsense and walk out within a year as they can afford to and don't need the cash.

Waggott and the Venky dogsbody will want someone low profile who won't attract a media circus to the club which could shine a light on what they are up to behind the scenes. So it will be someone low key. 

They will also try to get someone who will tolerate their nonsense and not resign or look for a route out of here - so in that case it will be a desperado.

I would be expecting names like Mike Beale, Ryan Lowe, Paul Warne and Ian Evatt.

Maybe, maybe not. He might have come here hoping it would change, but in reality it was unworkable and far worse than he ever imagined it to be.

The worst part is the message it sends out round the game to other prospective (decent) managers - that the club does not function properly and should be avoided

If Eustace walks nobody can blame him, like every manager before him, promised so much and given so little, its always the case. He never applied for West Brom or Coventry jobs, thats nonsence, but he's been cherry picked here for the Derby job and I think he'll go.

The next appointment is irrelevant to me, its rinse and repeat.
