Fixtures announcement

When are we expecting to see the next batch through?

Latest Sky Sports Selections Notification

Selections for matches scheduled after the first weekend in March will be made by the broadcasters on a four-week rolling basis starting from 1 February (e.g. a selection for the first weekend in April will be selected in the first weekend in March). The selections will then be announced to supporters following an agreement with all required stakeholders within seven days.

Reads to me like it could well not be till the first week of Feb? Wouldn't put it past them to announce them after the FA Cup 4th round.

They haven't gone back on what they said, they always maintained that when we got to this stage of the season it would be on a 4 week rolling basis again.

Probably a good thing, had they made the selections for March onwards in November we would have been selected every week.

Now are drifting off to mid table hopefully they will leave us alone.

Disagree.

Firstly they said fixtures would be announced up to March 1st by November 1st, they were announced on November 11th and it was open to debate whether that included March 1st weekend - the piece I have copy and pasted is also unclear and poorly written.

Secondly this means it can be up to three weeks before the matches that they tell the public:

The selections will then be announced to supporters following an agreement with all required stakeholders within seven days.

No use to us if they know 4 weeks before but don't tell us up until 7 days after?

On the subject of Sky match choices it looks like our match at QPR next Tuesday (which was scheduled for live coverage on February 8th had we not been in the FA Cup) isn't now being broadcast live.

I reckon that just hasn't been updated. Newport v Morecambe is live the same night and was originally meant to be on Sky Sports + like the QPR match.

This is what the EFL said before the start of the season:

  • By November 1, selections shall be made in respect of all matches to be played between the end of the third round proper of the FA Cup and the first weekend of March.
  • Selections for matches scheduled after the first weekend in March will be made on a four-week rolling basis starting from February 1 (e.g. a selection for the first weekend in April will be selected in the first weekend in March).

So they were announced on November 11th:

https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/2024/november/11/sky-sports-tv-picks/

10 days late and they never included March 1st weekend, probably realised it was FA Cup weekend!

Now they have added the 7 day part to the second point. Give them an inch they'll take a mile, wait and see when they announce March 1st weekend, does lead me to believe it could be after the FA Cup 4th round.

I think the deal is every team is on at least 22 times (could have that figure wrong) so i'd say we've a good few games to be moves still

Yes, that includes the opening game, bank holiday games, and the final game.

Plus all scheduled midweeks (Not including the Portsmouth game as that was a postponed weekend game).

At the moment we have been on Sky 16 times, 18 with the upcoming PNE and QPR games (if the latter stays scheduled as a live TV game).

With West Brom away, Stoke away, and Sheffield Wednesday at home all being midweek, plus the two easter games, and the final day of the season, that takes us to 24 slightly above the minimum.

Of course further selections will probably depend on how our opponents are doing rather than focusing on ourselves sliding down to the bottom half of the table.

I assume they will, and it’s obvious why Sky would want to give less notice as the season gets towards its climax, they what to pick matches with something riding on them - however that makes no difference to the fan who has had to hold off on trains etc (or take a chance on one assuming a game will stay at Saturday 3pm) to their financial detriment.

It’s no hardship to Sky to pick the games well in advance in the first two thirds of the season as those matches don’t have the same jeopardy. From now on you get feck all notice as they want their money’s worth, so let’s not pretend they’ve been altruistic towards fans.

As I said earlier in the thread, the way they’ve slipped that 7 day part in basically means it is no longer 4 weeks. May well be for March 1st but can’t see them sticking to it 100%. They already went back on the November 1st agreement as I mentioned earlier. Can’t be trusted, sad how we stand for it in England - treated like numpties at the end of the day, no excuse at all for their continual lies.

Norwich at home moved to 12.30 purely to be one of the additional games not even on the main Sky channel.

Yet more disregard shown towards fans. Away fans setting off at silly o clock and some home fans missing too all so arm chair fans can watch it if they dont fancy any of the other games on at the same time.

Norwich fans can take heart during their 5am alarms (earlier if they aren't driving themselves) that this is the modern game now and their own club wanted it. I forget the other reasons it's OK.

It's like a lot of issues, people in England will whing and whine about something but as soon as it comes to actually doing something about the problem it's all in the too hard basket.

Pathetic really.
