Wegerleswiggle Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) Love Eustace but that one's on him. Ridiculous subs. Changes should have been made at HT. Quickly going right off Cantwell. My front 4 would be Dennis Ohashi Kargbo Gueye Edited February 4 by Wegerleswiggle 1 Quote
Exiled_Rover Posted February 4 Posted February 4 For the first time this season I have to put that loss squarely at the feet of the manager. How he continues to trot Pears out there when he's giving away a goal a game is beyond me. Another howler again. If we had their GK it's at least a draw. Then to only give Kargbo 5 minutes at the end is criminal, especially with Hedges stinking out the joint again. You're not telling me he hasn't been running rings round our players in training - he ran past two of theirs like they weren't there then. 4 Quote

Michael123458 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 £40 rovers fans paid tonight to watch that. Get a few beers for journey home make it go quicker 1 Quote
Torgeir Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Kargbo is going to need to adjust. He looks quick but also very small/lightweight. Might be more of the same as ACD. Quote
Andy Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Kargbo looked decent in his cameo. I thought Buckley was pretty decent tonight, too. Maybe I have low expectations for him and I'm pleasantly surprised by an average performance. Thought both goals were avoidable, which seems to be the recurring theme for us. 1 Quote

Boro, WBA, Norwich and Coventry will be finishing above us. Wouldn’t put it past Bristol City / Sheff Wed either. We have 8 points from our last 11 fixtures As someone else posted earlier, we’ll drift back to 10th-14th and we’ll be 12 months away from losing Travis, Tronstad, Brittain and Hyam on frees. 2 Quote

I think Buckley has and continues to contribute a lot more than Cantwell. At least he holds the shape, gets his foot in and on his day can pass the ball well. Cantwell I still have absolutely no idea how he intends to impact a game of football. I feel like we get significantly worse when he comes on - looser shape, lower energy, less threat... He drifts around doing so little except slowing down the play and losing the ball. We've had over half a season of Cantwell now and I think he's quickly moving into the lost cause category. Hopefully the new signings can bring a side of his game out we have not seen yet. I do think him and Gueye are very poorly suited to one another as a pair - maybe Cantwell and Dennis could work better. 3 Quote

Do we get a choice, don’t they league legislate as to first available opportunity ? I can’t see why we would have agreed to a fixture the day after the window closes unless mandated ? Quote

That’s another example of why the transfer business needed to be done earlier. It’s another 3 points thrown away as even after the window has closed we’ve not been able to field 2 new signings. 3 new signings. Quote

He sees the other keeper every day in training, I’m assuming Toth is even worse! He’d be playing him otherwise. I can’t imagine Toth was a Eustace signing at all and I’m guessing he’s looked pretty average so far. 1 Quote

scotchrover Posted February 4 Posted February 4 A really disappointing night. Individual player thoughts are : -Buckley- nowhere near good enough at this level. -Hedges- forgot he was on the pitch. -Cantwell- doesn’t look 100% right to me. -Dolan- the most appalling decision maker in that team. -Beck- struggled against the directness of Smith (I think he was called) which seems to be a common theme for the lad. He needs moving further forward, onto the wing. -Forshaw- probably the best appearance so far, even if it was for a short period. -Pears- questionable keeping. Time to give Toth another go. On another note- why the hell did we stop pushing forward after we equalised? We had them on the ropes. Eustace’s tactics and subs are at fault tonight for me. 1 Quote

Kargbo probably faster, but I’m not expecting much. The only player we’ve signed this window that we know will improve the starting eleven is Dennis. And big question marks over his fitness considering he hasn’t played much for a good while. Quote

London blue Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Pears: 2/10. One good save. Awful distribution and gave a goal away. Flapped at everything. Beck: 3/10. One of his worst games, was rattled and showed his immaturity Batth: 5/10. Dealt with most of what came at him but poor playing from the back. Hyam: See Batth Britain: 5/10. Tried but was visibly frustrated. Had nothing Infront of him to work with. Travis: 5/10. Overran in midfield and couldn't push us forward. Buckley: 0/10. A truly woeful display. Lacking accuracy, bite and any semblance of game management. Hedges: 1/10. A point for not taking himself off. Such a poor winger. Dolan: 5/10. Not his worst game and got the goal but I'm being generous. Weinmann: 2/10. Invisible. Can't remember him touching the ball. Guaye: 4/10. Ran his heart out but did little else. Lacked quality. Subs: 0/10. Special mention to Cantwell who played as poorly as anyone over 90 mins, all packed into 10. Kargbo gets a reprieve for being new and quick. Eustace: 1/10. His worst game that I can remember. Allowed our midfield to be overrun for 70 mins. Left Hedges on and made some truly mystifying subs. Dog shit from all involved, really. 3 1 Quote
