I’ve been really encouraged by reports on social media of the players not being too phased about the chaos, and instead being focussed on really pushing to try and make this a season of success.

Here’s Mogga reporting on his conversation with Danny Batth: https://x.com/fyldecoastrover/status/1889824190041358478?s=46

And another comment here from Weimann:

Got to love these players. It would have been very easy to down tools and give up.

They make us proud.

That said, we as fans should not be taking our foot off the gas in making our feelings known about those parasites in Pune. The word “parasite” was thoughtfully chosen there, as it’s the most accurate metaphor for their presence in the club that means so much to us all.

Up the Rovers, fuck the Venky’s.

Can you thoughtfully choose another word that isn't the kind used by fascists to describe other races? I'm sure you can come up with something else. I strongly dislike Venkys too but there's many words and many metaphors that could be used. It'd be more understandable if you hadn't thoughtfully chosen that word so to advertise it as that looks even more of a red flag

That’s quite a leap you’ve made there about someone you probably don’t know.

I doubt it was meant in any racial context. Its a big thing to call someone out that way.

That said not sure parasite is the right word as they aren't getting anything out of the club. Its hard to find the right term for the relationship as its so bizarre. Absentee land lord not right - theyd still make some rent? Malevolent overlords would require some engagement.

I would maybe add Benson to that list too, Johnson I think gets a pass because of his playing history with Rovers, but it seems that all 3 offer something to the coaching set up

I think Johnson mainly (and rightly, in my view) gets a pass mainly because of his involvement with the academy at a time that they were really exceptional - but I totally agree with you about Benson. The stick that occasionally comes his way when we have next to no evidence about how good he is at his job baffles me, to be honest.

I’ll keep it short because everything’s already been said.

The bond between the players and fans after the game was very apparent on TV.  That and the performance was quite simply brilliant.

well done all of you. Superb.

Hmmm...The problem is that parasite does seem so appropriate for what these bastards are doing to our club.

Of course, racists and fascists will try to appropriate all sorts of words and images-do we just sign them over and abandon them?

Even Billy Bragg says that we should reclaim the cross of George and I have been highly uncomfortable, driving through places like Burnley Wood to see them festooned everywhere.

I am speaking, as someone, who has witnessed a person being challenged for using "black eye" in an important child protection discussion. The other one that comes to mind is another well meaning person being frozen out for using "nitty-gritty". Apparently, in some communities, this has slave trade connotations...That was in Liverpool lol....

Indeed. I'm only pointing out the connotations. I'm sure the guy isn't racist. But certainly it's wilful neglect at best. I agree that parasite doesn't fit particularly well and given the connotations I wouldn't use that word

Parasite doesn't seem appropriate for what they are doing, though. I could understand parasite being used in some situations towards a large group of people in a social class that wasn't a racial group - eg landlord. It fits in that situation. But aimed at people of a race that do get dehumanised in this country when the word doesn't even really fit seems like something that isn't worth doing

It looks like that to you. You aren’t everyone.

And my comment looked like a leap to you but you aren't everyone. So where does that get us? And some others are saying parasite doesn't really fit whereas others think it does. So where are we now?

Where we are is you insinuating someone is using a racial slur. Pretty distasteful thing to do. I’d suggest not making assumptions about people you don’t know. Use the report function if you think there’s an issue.

I never gave it a thought about having racist connotations until you brought it up 🤔

Vermin, the dregs of society, fraudsters and conmen, dishonest, immoral, corrupt, deceitful, unprincipled, unscrupulous, depraved, vile, shady, dodgy and crooked miscreants

Just a few we could use

Parasite is ok though

Two quality goals from Gueye and almost a third....what a game for him! Hopefully he keeps scoring and now hitting form until the end of season!

Also seems Buckley getting game time recently has benefit him massively and he has also hit form.

You can say that again.

Cunts?

Also, if anything they are a Virus, they insinuated themselves into a healthy viable host and slowly poisoned it until it is a decaying husk.
