Same here, thought Cantwell played nice and cool under pressure to be honest. Can't say he did anything to be critical of.

It was one of Cantwell better cameos which says a lot as he's been poor recently.

Linking up with Dennis and Kargbo will help I reckon.

I think Buckleys really getting back to his best with this run in the team. When tronstad's back I'd like to see bucko pushed further forward, I think that would be a great midfield as him, sonny and trav are all good at closing down and breaking up the play whilst having him further forward allows for hopefully more through balls to our attackers

Buckley did his signature drop of the shoulder in the first half...Sent their player packing...He can be a real player on his day.

To the tune of ‘I believe in Joe Hendry’:

Say his name and he appears. I believe in Makhtar Gueye.

I believe in Makhtar Gueye.

Our smiling giant, for a million, from Molenbeek

Is causing chaos, for defences, every week.

They say I believe in Makhtar Gueye, I believe in Makhtar Gueye.

(I don’t waste my evenings…)

What the hell is that?

Fantastic, unexpected result and away performance. Considering the circumstances, certainly our most impressive performance of the season and great character from the players.

Gueye was obviously the star of the show. In the first half at times he wasnt particularly good, he felt a card in waiting, it often wasnt sticking and he was pretending to be injured a lot. In the second half he was incredible, and a very popular matchwinner.

Im sure people will say I told you so but this sort of performance was not even in flashes prior to a month or so ago, especially in front of goal in the past. With his feet, up to now he has been a non entity in front of goal, hes been wayward and/or meek and predictable. His first goal got help from poor keeping but was great improvisation, and his shot off the bar and also his second goal were two different techniques but both text book. In his own box he was also superb heading balls away.

Hyam was brilliant at the back and has had an excellent season that hasnt got the credit he deserves. Led by @RoversClitheroe who for some reason despises him, hes not been the most popular since last season but hes gone even beyond the form of his first season here. Batth has looked a yard off it recently due to playing so much and no surprise to see him break down. Sanderson has been rash in his cameos to date but came in tonight and was very solid. Ribeiro tired towards the end as youd expect and got caught out once or twice but overall was very steady similar to Pickering. Carry on like this and the customary short term deal will have to be extended, or would be if we were capable of extending contracts. Brittain as youd expect now was solid and Pears had little to do but did it well.

Travis still looks a bit rusty but really grew into the game with a leaders performance. Buckley was decent enough next to him too although gives away silly fouls too often.

The 3 behind the striker is the biggest issue. Weimann had another invisible game aside from stabbing it back for the second. Dolan was the best out of 3, Hedges again a bystander. I also felt that the subs didnt really aid us, you might want one or two of those stodgy and hard working starters off the bench in such a situation. Cantwell worked hard and blocked well oncd or twice but was loose at times too and Cozier Duberry is a liability in terms of losing the ball. Kargbo lacked the maturity to run to the corner at one stage too. The key is to find a way to get at least one or two of the likes of Dennis, Cantwell, Ohashi and Kargbo in the team behind Gueye from the start, but fitness and form is not helping that.

A special thanks goes to Jim! (I'm assuming you didn't go!)

Thanks for asking but no, I’ve been laid low by a grotty virus so stayed at home. Delighted with the win, hoping to see one before the end of the season!

Remember when we played Millwall in the league cup quarter final (I think in the Appleton days), Danny Shittu developed his own gravitational pull and it felt every ball from them or us was redirected to his head. I imagine that’s what West Brom fans would feel tonight about Gueye.

Should lose our manager every week, to be fair.

Yes---I'm getting ahead of myself!

We want them at The National Stadium.

If you don't break your duck before the fixture list runs out YOU ARE BANNED from any playoff or the final at Wembley if we are participants. Contracts may be placed on the heads of anyone who attempts to get you into the grounds on said match days.

You've only yourself to blame.

In the meantime I hope you feel better.

I felt prouder as a Rovers fan tonight than I have for a while. Proud of the players, staff and fans - the rest of the cabal can f*** right off.

My worry going into the game was how the players would react to the last few tumultuous days and that fear was allayed after about fifteen minutes when we settled into the game and pretty much controlled it. That ten minute period at the start of the second half was the perfect anecdote to the bad feelings I have for those people in charge of the club. I felt it was the players too sending them a message.

Every player really gave us something to be proud of and it's probably unfair to single any of them out but Hyam, Travis and Gueye were excellent tonight. In the last few minutes I saw Travis was clearly running on empty but still got in several telling challenges. He appeared to be the de facto manager tonight and led by example. I have an apology to make to Gueye in that I just didn't see a player in there. How delighted I am to be proven wrong as he was just outstanding tonight. He gave the perfect centre forward's display and was also our best defender at their set pieces.

So, so proud tonight but a special word for the fans. The balance they struck between supporting the players and disparaging the owners and Waggott was perfect. Watching the players celebrating at the end gave me the distinct impression they agreed with us.

Thing is, the players are in the same boat as the manager. Most of them have contracts that expire soon and it's likely they've not received anything from the club addressing this.

Eustace gave the club one last chance, a big demand was that they sort out this contract issue and show some long term support for the playing and coaching staff. These requests were dismissed outright.

I don't think it's a case of him abandoning them, I'd suspect most of them will get out at the first opportunity as well. Everyone in the playing and coaching team are a solid unit, that much is obvious. Any rumours that were spread contrary to this were probably put out there by the club as yet more divided and rule tactics. Eventually this is not going to work anymore as they keep doing the same thing over and over again and they're not smart enough to come out with any new excuses.

Well well well. What an incredible performance. A few have said our best this season.

I might be going a bit hyperbole here, but I think that is the best performance/result since we were relegated from the prem. Consider the context;

External:

-Away from home against playoff rivals

-Wba have only lost once at home all season.

-We're out of form and haven't won away in a while.

-24 hours less rest than WBA and we're playing away from home.

Internal:

-Club a complete shambles at all levels above the players.

-Current manager current negotiating taking over a divisional rival in the relegation zone.

-No communication about who was even taking the game until hours before ko.

-Outrageous club statement causing a massive fan disconnection

-Beck injured before game and Batth coming off in the first half.

Somehow after all of that those players fought their hearts out and came out with an incredible 2 nil win. The Mak, what a superstar.

Only surprise was bringing on ACD instead of Kargbo and not giving any mins to Dennis.

A truly wonderful night.

Dennis not had much football but fresh for Sat at least, we'll be v short if batth and beck are out for a bit..

Buckley has been useful, i'd say on paper him and trav are a better partnership than trav/tronstad, as Buckley gives the creative outlet. But tronstad far more likely to be in form is seemingly the issue.

So proud of the lads tonight. What a performance after 3 or 4 days of absolute turmoil.

Come on lads - u CAN do this, piss those fuckers right off and get us up!

Oh and as it's been discussed on here a few times previously, if anyone is in any doubt as to what a cult hero is, it's our Big Mak!!

You just know Mowbray is looking at Gueye and thinking, "Right Winger, maybe occasional rightback. Must line up an offer"

If Mowbray had BigMac he would be the right winger for sure.

I liked Mac from the off thought guve him a few games and he could be good.  Sadly he then went backwards in keaps and bounds.  Every game he seemed to get worse then BAM a transformation.  Superb.  I do not know why the refs give him NO protection.  I have noticed for a few weeks now he gets some rough treatment.  Lots of 2 handed oushes in the back and seldom donthe refs call it.  The one tonight where he was called for a foul and actually had his shirt pulled AND a push in his back.  Penalty, nope.  Criminal decision and the replay showed the ref right in line.

Didn't see that coming!

Delighted even though my bets on match went down.

Gueye immense - has to keep improving, confidence must be rocketing.

How we missed Travis whilst he was out injured - player of season so far.

DO NOT give it to Lowe until end of season (though credit to the staff for tonight) - he is not the answer and no Tony Parkes.

Have I not missed Mowbray pacing up and down with hands in pockets looking utterly lost!  Can't stand Mowbray and Venus.
