Because we have a small squad that is stretched enough as it is. We have a small chance of making the playoffs, an even smaller chance of making our way through them, but a 0% chance of winning the FA Cup.

It allows us to focus our attention where it matters and to get that tiny bit of extra rest that could prove the difference in one or two matches.

We're not making the play-offs - it's not going to happen.

The cup offers the chance of making the last 8 or going further and sight of Wembley, and it makes the season exciting for players and fans

Ask the Rovers players if they're "happy to be out of the cup".

It's a ridiculous thing to say

Do you not think we probably need the £200k to £600k we could generate for being on TV against a big club in the next round?

I don't think we need any money. We clearly have no intent to use the money generated from transfer revenue for anything other than basic overheads.

I don't think the club generating extra revenue has any impact on anything.

Ultimately well beaten by Wolves but we acquitted ourselves reasonably well.  Thought the centre backs, centre mids and the new signings played well. Toth and Cantwell were absolutely shocking. The subs couldnt make any impact.

As long as Eustace doesn't quit then I feel like we will have more to offer at WBA than I expected based on today game.

Good summary. Maybe it is is the freshly pressed dark roasted Aeropress coffee early in the morning, but there was a lot to be positive about with that performance. Left side looks very good and will skin a few Championship defences. Dennis will be a handful when he is fit. Gueye continues to be a nuisance

The obvious weaknesses didn't disappear and we all know them.

The only way a goalkeeper improves is regular games. You can miss a few tackles and get away with staying out of the spotlight. ( take a bow Mr Cantwell) but there is no hiding place for a goalkeeper.

Hopefully there is a goalkeeper in there somewhere but we will never know from cameo appearances. Remember that goalie who Mowbray shipped  out because he and othere on this forum didn't rate him

Hey ho, off to chip the ice off the path in 18F weather

If you are on the ‘sooner we end up in administration the better’ boat then fair enough. But otherwise, clearly we do need the money.

Personally I thought we did ok considering the number of new signing in there. It was only a 2 minute spell shooting ourselves in the foot that cost us. Up until then we were well in it and should have been infront with the Hyam header. Kagbo looks lively but is clearly going to lack end product. Still, a fast Dolan may be better than a Dolan.

Toth looks a liability and JRC was awful. Ultimately , a bit like against Forest in the league cup QF a few years ago, you just saw the gulf between bottom of Prem and our level.

Agree, Kargbo looked like a Dolan-type. Eager small runner but link play and judgment dubious. However, it is early and can hope.

I actually thought the CBs were poor today - both showing why they ply their trade in the Championship. Too many free headers in the box because they couldn't deal with the movement of the Wolves players.

Well, positives - Ribeiro looks very tidy and I’d be more than happy with him starting. Kargbo looks like he has a thing we don’t currently have, which is pace and a desire to travel with the ball. Dennis has visible quality but looks a long way short of full fitness. Hopefully he can apply himself and get up to speed. Finally, at least we don’t have to go home to such a godforsaken place as Wolverhampton, which is - along with Coventry - just one of the most pointless places I’ve ever had the misfortune to visit.

Negatives are obvious, but not least how thoroughly ineffectual the “cavalry” were when coming on, aside from Gueye. Hedges a never-man, Dolan a bundle of wasted potential. Woodrow looked game but played out of position. Weimann an earnest professional but really should be a bit-part player in a team looking by for top 6.

Post-match from Eustace is now appointment viewing, but we’ll not learn anything until the deal is confirmed tomorrow. Pasha and Waggott looking all too comfortable in the JW Upper. I don’t understand how they’re not covered in Bovril, beer or meat pie up there.

I think all the seats around them are cordoned off..

JRC has reverted back to his old form of being absolute crap. He had a spell under JDT were he was one of the first names on the team sheet but like Buckley he has regressed massively.

To be fair I thought Buckley had a good game and JRC made mistakes but got better as the game went on. Still a very decent player at this level when he's in form and playing with confidence

Far more importantly after 14 years plus of general decline we as fans desperately need a bit of success on the pitch. Wherever it comes from, be it League or Cup.

I don't think so.

We are out of golden eggs for now, if we are committed to only spending exactly what we can afford as a self-sufficient club then we will be able to keep the lights on through transfers.

There will be enough academy talent and the odd player increasing in value and we will be able to keep things going.

Put it this way, the couple of hundred thousand generated from an extra cup tie isn't going to make the slightest bit of difference. Let's say things got THAT bad. What is that? Another week of staying in business?

It's a drop in the bucket.

I’ve only seen JRC playing with confidence and form for 12 months in his x amount of years here. The guys crap.

JDT is the only manager who's really managed to get a tune out of him.

That isn't some pro-JDT statement, but I think he's a fairly limited player and it is the only time that the system really worked in his favour.

The well is practically bone dry.

Given the lack of talent and the contract situations who (apart from Carter)  could we possibly sell for a worthwhile sum?

This could be very painful week for our Club.

These two legends will haunt you tonight for that comparison.

Expect to be woken by the sound of a piano crashing down your stairs 😉
