New manager wishlist

Fully agree. We are looking for the best man to come in NOW and deliver over 16 games or whatever we've got left now.

Not the summer.

Not a 'style of play'

Not 'working with young players'

Not 'building for the future'

Or any of the other claptrap and soundbites that people often come out with which are totally out of the question at this operation, unwilling or unable to even offer improved deals to its few quality proven players beyond this/next summer.

I'm already annoyed that we're going to West Brom without a manager - we should have had someone in immediately. We've tossed off January due to a dismal and negligent approach to transfers and now are risking tossing off two more games this week whilst we pretend to conduct a managerial search.

This summer is going to be a disaster, everyone knows it, the club are actively preparing for it by running everyone's contracts down and not signing anyone for the long term.

Is it really too much to ask to throw the Eustace compo to Warnock or Allardyce and offer them a couple of million bonus if they somehow get us up?

At the very least it would be entertaining even if it ended in failure.

Its a no brainer isnt it.

What do people think of Neil Harris? I thought he’d done. Good job with Millwall and couldn’t understand his departure?

I think if we were firefighting relegation near the bottom he would be a shrewd appointment but I don't think he's the one to hand a 15-match playoff free hit to.

Meh.

Yeah, I’m not saying he’s anything special but my overriding feeling is that he was getting a lot out of the Millwall squad and I couldn’t understand him leaving, wasn’t there a disagreement?

Not a lot!

Personification of Mr Average who has achieved  very little as a manager.

We can and MUST do better

Honestly, for THAT job, I’d defo give it to Warnock for the rest of the season.

warnock has retired to his devon farm

allardyce is enjoying life talking about the game

Warnock has said he's retired every time he's been out of work for the last 10 years, he keeps on coming back because he can't resist it when he gets the phone call.

I remember when we had talks with him in 2016 before insanely appointing Coyle instead - there were folk on here saying Warnock only had 1 year left in him before retirement so we should avoid - he carried on for another 8 years after that. I'm pretty sure he'd love it for 15 games and a free shot at another promotion. Nothing to lose.

Allardyce has never been able to resist a hefty contract or lure of a bonus - he took the Leeds job in almost impossible conditions because they offered him a mega bonus to keep them up, pretty sure he'd do the same here if the package was right, but I agree I think his best days are behind him and it's a while since he was involved in the chaos of the Championship.

A safe pair of hands but not long ago Millwall were giving him stick for his style of play. Might upset one or two here.

Not advocating for Harris but the "style of play" thing has annoyed the f*** out of me for 15 years. It's why we got rid of Big Sam and partly how we ended up here, boo boys whinging about style of play.

If we got someone in for 15 games who played horrendous turgid football and we won 10 of them 1-0 and got 6th place I couldn't care less how they did it.

Oh I fully agree, I found the anti-Allardyce stuff ridiculous and have never taken much interest in 'styles' of play. All about the results from here and then the owners and board can smash the team to bits in May if we miss out.

But there are plenty who obsess about such things and Harris is a bit like Rowett - boring yet effective at this level.

Eustace's position at Rovers in now untenable should his Derby move stall (though highly, highly unlikely).

Therefore staggered Rovers have made no announcement as to who will take the team tomorrow night unless it's the new Head Coach!

Just further underlines, IMO, how incompetent and shambolic we are.

probably cant as he might claim constructive dismissal

Im sure yesterday that you put him on your shortlist.

Why the sudden change?

is this a real question?

Cooper is still being paid by Leicester and are we likely to pay his compo to bring in to the club RF99

The communication from the club is poor again.

Not an itk, just heard murmurings.

Apparently we've had a Canadian round Brockhall recently.  Not got the guys name sorry but do vaguely recognise him.  Apparently he only does couple of months on a job and then moves onto the next one.  The ace venturer wants to try his hand over here.  Not sure if he can handle dumb and dumber down Ewood but that'll wait and see.  But bruce almighty, if he is the new manager I think we will struggle.

Im in no doubt that he wont come, thats not my question.

Unless im mistaken, he was on your shortlist only yesterday. What has changed from thinking of him as a candidate to telling people he is unrealistic?

I know Elliott Jackson said he isnt realistic so wondering if it was that.

What does it matter why he ain't coming. Full stop. I read somewhere that Cooper is still being paid by Leicester so no way are we paying compo for him

I have no idea what Elliott has said.

What your shortlist and who is first choice from it?

I wouldn't want Allardyce permanently. However style of football is irrelevant fot the next 15-18 games.

We need someone to come in and make them feel good about themselves and get the place bouncing. Id say Warnock with his arm round the shoulder  approach and to a lesser extent Allardyce with his unshakeable belief in his own ability would be the men.

The likes of Harris might be feasible if somewhat boring options for next season if we dont go up.
