It is however if we got in the playoffs by any margin it would have been (and still might be) a real achievement. I think the vast majority of supporters accept he has squeezed every drop from this squad.

Even against Wolves - the drop off in quality from Kargbo / Dennis (on debut in England / hasn't played for 9 months) to Dolan / Hedges was stark. He's worked miracles.

The most ridiculous part of that Nixon article was when he said the club are considering George Boeteng as part of the new coaching team

Talk about backwards,  surely you choose your man and let him bring in who he wants. He will already have to accept Lowe and Benson

As my subsequent post alluded to, I’m amongst that majority.

Hang on, if Eustace had his way it would have been Bamford and Wallace, not Kargbo and Dennis.

Not saying he didn't get as much as he could out of the team but he had nothing to do with those signings I would guess.

Its not a criticism of you though. "Slammed the shortlist." The situation is dire, the likely candidates are all considerable downgrades on Eustace.

don't agree the situation is dire.

Which if any of Karanka, O'Neil, Carvalhal and Wicky would you see as good appointments and as appointments that give us a chance of a top 6 place?

I gave my opinions on all 4 supposedly candidates earlier today. here the post https://www.brfcs.com/forums/topic/37586-new-manager-wishlist/?do=findComment&comment=2688082

We could appoint and they could get us playoff place. Just like Eustace got us top 6 before leaving for Derby, did you predict that? no he didn't, neither did I in all fairness. I thought we might challenge for it.

Right now, we are 6th and we have a good chance of top 6 if(big if) we make a good appointment now. Over to Gestede, Owen and Suhail to deliver

So did he take the West Brom job?

Or did he turn it down because he couldn't take his staff?

I gave the proper context to the story unlike your post which did not

Its very normal that any new head coach bring one or 2 staff with him but works with the rest of the staff there.

But it wouldn't be normal for us to appoint Boeteng and then tell the new man he has to be part of his coaching.

We will already be expecting the new manager to keep Lowe,Johnson and Benson

There isn't a job for Boateng unless the new manager asks for him

Karanka would be a shit appointment

Shortlist(if it actually is)Looks poor

Would love Damian Duff !! Nixon’s list is very underwhelming…. Likes of Wicky & GON  are poor coaches .. rest are just have beens with no hunger at all …. IMG_6963.jpeg.c99d377eb1502deaf47b254d83cf4602.jpeg

Its seems that Rovers have had this shortlist given Nicko hints since Sunday.

Wicky was close to getting the WBA job before but broke down over one of his coaching staff wouldn't come and his GK coach he wanted couldn't get a work permit. I could get behind that but whether he would come with his own choice of staff I don't know. Hopefully we been talking to him off the record and seeing whether he will come or not without his own staff. If not, moved on very quick.

O'Neil, It is someone I think would be good choice for me but doubts whether he would fit our footballing structure and whether he would accept those terms

Carvalhal has always been a head coach who doesn't stay long at any clubs and I'm not sure that sort of appointment is right for the club

Karanka,, had success at Boro but his man-management skills seems to be possible a problem plus his lack of success since that promotion at Boro

I would like a new head coach in by Friday cos we have a good chance of top 6 and the right appointment could make this happened. Its seem that the search for the Eustace's replacement is being done by Gestede and Owen who I guess with make their choice to recommend to Pasha who then will decide yay or nay.

I'm not surprised that it is mainly foreign shortlist given that they will work under Gestede has Head of Football operations and Owen has head of Technical development, whilst having little say in transfers. I'm not sure O'Neil would accept that but you never know.

Owen will probably be off in the summer as he seems to move clubs every season.

What do you know of Wicky to say he would be a good appointment?

Work experience guys like Gestede picking our manager. What could go wrong

Youve been critical yourself of the fact that Eustace feels that working here is impossible and he would rather go to a relegation scrap. Of course its dire. And embarassing.

Your post on those options goes into detail about structures and if they would be interested. Im just after a yes or no if you would be happy rather than avoidance of the question.

Burnley appointed a new coach to the staff before appointing Parker as their head coach

Assistant head coach to a new head coach? or even the new head coach which I wouldn't be surprised to be very honest

Not really been on board with the idea of Duff, until I saw Nixon's list and now I'd probably prefer us to take a chance on Duff, rather than appoint the likes of Karanka

If Boateng is given the job as head coach would you be dissapointed In the club?

We should be looking to get the best man possible until the end of the season.

We should not be looking for a longer term appointment now unless the club can give a definitive answer on the transfer budget for the summer and what the situation is regarding contracts.

Yeah I remember Burnley doing that and I remember most the comments towards it were negative

There is no reason for us to appoint Boeteng and insist the new manager works with him

I haven't said Eustace felt it impossible to work here but what I said was he wanted to greater say in transfer targets and to spend some fucking money given what we received in the last 12 months plus promises made to him about having £5m to spend then not having it a few months later.

He has been clearly unhappy here for some whilst unbeknown to us the fans.

If Derby are going to offer him a greater say in transfers and spend some money then I can see why he wanted to jump even tho Rovers still have the opportunity to keep him by offering him a new contract and the assurances he wanted. Rovers should have offered them in my opinion.

Cos the next appointment has to fit into the structure we have and for me, accept that they will have big say in transfer cos Gestede and Owen will run that side of the recruitment.

Avoidance of the question? is that a joke? You are the best at avoiding questions, you couldn't even give one name who you would like to see on a shortlist, talk about avoiding such a simple question.

I have given my opinion on all 4 choices. Your problem is this is much bigger question than just yes and no question. How can you not see that?

I think we need to appoint a new head coach for more than the short term.

I have said that not one name is anything other than a serious downgrade on the head coach weve just driven out. I said of the names mentioned, Rob Edwards would be my pick, forget shortlists, but even then, would prefer Eustace to stay.

We just have to accept that the club is a dysfunctional mess and not change it but just hope a manager is desperate enough to work amidst it. No money, anyone of worth sold, no contracts given to add security, arse licking and incompetent board members and people like Rudy below willing to recommend shite to be added on the playing side. If whoever comes in has any ability and credibility, he will soon leave as we have seen. Just seems futile.

Would any of those 4 being appointed cause you to be angry/annoyed/dissapointed/resigned to the fact that the play offs arent happening under him?

This business is all about money. The only thing an out of work coach/manager would look at is the paycheck. Why do you think Eustace took the job at Rovers? For some of these guys it’s not about reputation it’s all about money in the bank. FFS…look at our managers before Mowbray. It’s a cash and grab. Pay me 10k a month and I’ll be your manager even if you fire me after 4 games. I don’t care. Just pay up or shut up. And thus JDT and Eustace walked hand-in-hand out the door and lived happily ever after! The evil chickens in the east continued to prepare their master plan that some day will show everyone who was right!

Bah - enough internet for today….until 8 that is.coyb.
