Seems unusual not to have Lowe as caretaker to the end of the season and then see from there as an option in the poll. Caretaker to permanent was the only option. I had clicked Carsley as my choice (it still is irl) but can't believe the likes of Warnock would be chosen above seeing the season out with someone who knows and who has coached the players under the system we are currently playing. So I've clicked David Lowe permanent to give him a boost in case he ever looked

If we were sat midtable, not going up and not going down, yeah give it to Lowet for the season but as we're 5th and have a real chance of doing something, we need a proper manager.

Lowe might be a good coach (he might not 🤷‍♂️) but anyone who saw his post match interview can see he isn't a manager.

Don't want to risk my ITK status but the new manager is a young ambitious manager who in circa 12 months will leave due to failed promises

Please tell me it's not Wellens.

I don't know how many more shots we will have at promotion - at least until Venkys are gone - and I don't want to be sat in the summer thinking we wasted one by having Lowe take charge of the side for the final few months. He has no experience as a manager and this is a big step up.

He's the perfect short-term caretaker and a nice figure to the keep in the coaching staff to maintain some continuity, but I don't want to see him actually managing the side for anything more than a couple of fixtures.

You see, I can give you a thumbs up from time to time!

4pm Update - Nearly 100 votes - As clear as mud! 🤣

What is clear I think is the likely reaction if the likes of Boateng, Karanka, Wellens, Lowe are appointed.

Edit: Bit surprised Allardyce is so much more popular than Warnock IF thats the road we were going down. (Which we probably wont)

Rovers should do everything they can to make an appointment now, since the only thing we have left going for us in terms of respect at this level is our current league position. Right now it could be used to get us a manager better than we deserve.

Away from that, "the owners and longterm project", what most managers look for... is not going to get us anyone of note.

Sadly plenty fans STILL have their heads up their arses.

I voted for Big Sam, but still think it's pretty sad he's leading the poll tbh.

They need to be taking advantage of our league position to get in the best possible name we can attract whilst we sit in 5th.

If we give it to Lowe and it turns sour then it will really go to shit, turn toxic, we'll slide down the league and be a less attractive prospect to any potential targets.

Get it sorted now. Get some stability and long term plan with a new manager and give the players who need to renew a reason to stay.

Can we add Danny Rohl to the poll please.

Could you imagine if we were an ambitious club who went for a manager like that.

Instead, relegation threatened Derby County came and took our manager (with ease) and we're now scrabbling around for the best of the worst.

Tragic.

I don’t think anyone is advocating giving David Lowe a 3-year contract, but I can see advantages in not rushing the appointment.

The biggest thing we have going for us now is a dressing room united in their anger at the narrative that John Eustace alone got them into the top 6 and John Eustace doesn’t think they can stay there.

I think that anger can get us into the playoffs and the best way to puncture that balloon right now is to bring in a different voice saying different things.

The social media piece from Dolan didnt exactly scream player antipathy towards Eustace did it?

However, if they were feeling any sense of injustice against him I'd more or less guarantee that will wear off very quickly, especially if the next couple of results go South.

Then they'll be thinking "What are we doing with David in charge? We need a proper manager!"

No way we would consider Rohl, although we probably should.

It would be a case of out of the frying pan, into the fire for him. Think the Wednesday fans hate Chansiri as much as we do the Venkys

My choice wouldn't be for Lowe given all options but him as short term caretaker has to sit higher than Allardyce or Warnock bundling in. The fact Allardyce is top of the pile is pure nonsense given some of the names on there who have won promotion or reached the play offs more recently

Taking longer than I thought. Top appointment today would have increased gate tomorrow.

Ok I'm getting carried away. If it t turned out we got Richie Wellens it will be a quiet day.

Steve Gerrard for me.

No way on Rohl, his contract with SW includes a £5 million release clause

As opposed to ours where we are happy to sell managers like players.

I wanted Gerrard when JDT went to shit. Very ambitious man and would be an attractive name for the club. I understand the concerns but would put bums on seats and be an exciting one at least.

Im warming to the idea.

Bit of Pizazz and extra excitement around the Club for a month or two.

Might be the last chance of that for a VERY long time.

I cant for the life of me see Waghail wanting to pay the wages he'd likely want though.
